Out after dark [Seth]

The young girl sighed as she looked out the window of the dorm she was located in. Four floors up, she wasn't tired, she wanted to get out of here. She looked to see if her roommate was in the room. Nope, or she couldn't see her anyway. Slowly she tip toed across the room, opening the door, sliding out, and shutting it behind her. She looked to her left and right, nobody was there. A small smile was on her face, it wasn't her first time sneaking out of the dorm, and it wouldn't be the last either. Normally she was found to be a good student, but when it came to being bored there was only one thing left to do, find some fun. She got to the stairs and very quietly walked down them, being extra careful not to slip. She heard a noise as she reached the bottom of the stairs and stopped. I bet those are perfects... She waited for the voices to quiet down, moving the opposite direction from her location.

She walked quietly to the stairs, again taking her time making sure that she wouldn't trip. Nobody was on the second floor, or nobody she could see anyway. She walked to the stairs and started making her way down, going a bit faster. Now on the first floor she walked down the hall to the door that lead just outside. She opened it and slipped through and shut the door behind her. Finally she started running towards the beach, hoping to get there and be out a little bit. If she was lucky she wouldn't get caught. Finally she made it and smiled to herself. I must get back soon, I'd hate to get locked outside. Oh heck I don't care if I get locked outside. She took off her high heels and ran in the sand. Because she was alone and couldn't care in the world, she started dancing around in circles till she got dizzy and stopped. "I have all the time in the world for peace and quiet!" She laughed and laid down in the sand, getting her pink dress dirty.

It was funny really, but one of the most desired patrols among the prefects, besides around the cafeteria, was along the beach. Seth wasn't entirely certain why that was, failing to realize that most just took a nap along the sands, not caring that couples would run around on romantic dates.

Seth, of course, felt none of that laziness creep into his body. The beach, for all it's beauty gave him the feeling of power. All the elements present in this small area, it opened up such possibilities that, simply standing around it, he felt powerful, almost godlike even. Of course, these hotheaded thoughts came to an abrupt crash when he heard the voice of a girl off to the side.

Seth paused in his moment of solitude, and frowned. Striding quickly over to the disturbance, he frowned as he viewed the girl laying on the sand in a pink dress. "You're dirty." He muttered, focused more on the sand that clung to the fabric of her dress more than anything else. Normally, he'd be more focused on the fact that someone was breaking curfew, but the girl provided a slight resemblance towards his sister, if only introverted in color scheme. She had his, well not compassion, her resemblance wasn't enough to earn actual sympathy, but he was willing to be non-hostile about the whole situation.

Amelia would have jumped but she was already on the ground. It was clear that the male standing a few feet away from her had scared the crap out of her. "Yeah... so." She didn't realize that he was a perfect and she was in huge trouble. Now if she had she would go back willingly, but it wasn't going to keep her from going outside again and again. She didn't move from the ground, just laid there looking up at the stars as if Seth wasn't there. Maybe I'll go in the water. So what if I didn't bring a suit, it's much more fun going in clothes anyway, besides if I sleep outside my clothes would just dry up anyway. "Who are you?" She asked looking up at him, slowly moving into a sitting position. She hoped that he wouldn't drag her back to her dorm to soon, she had just gotten there after all and all that hard work of sneaking out would have been for nothing. "Am I in trouble?" She asked finally, hoping he would say no.

He watched as the girl twitched on the ground at the sound of his voice. It was slightly amusing to see, but set the difference between his sister and this girl even further apart. He let out a small sigh, figuring that there was little point in wasting time and was about to tell her to follow along, when she spoke again.

"Heh, I'm Seth Rosa, of the Prefects." He stated, before frowning slightly, and sat down opposite of her. He smiled slightly, his mood still in a very good mood after having got to talk to his sister earlier in the day, so just once, a little sympathy for a wandering soul would be allowable today. "Well, it depends on how you look at it. Certain students get free passes due to demands placed upon their bodies by the...changes some encounter. I assume that's why you're out here, right?"

Amelia was a bit surprised the the perfect hadn't started dragging her along, or at least had ordered her to stay up from the ground. "Oh hello Seth." She smiled back at him before adding, "Amelia Ramos." There wasn't anything worse they could do with her, she was forever at the school... It wasn't like extra homework was a big deal. Getting kicked out of the school didn't seem like an option, even she knew that they wouldn't kick her out even if she did sneak out at night. No she didn't have any free pass. She wanted to ask how one such as her could get a free pass but he was answering it for her. "What are you talking about?" Now he was confusing her. She couldn't have felt any safer out here. She decided it was best to answer his question, "I'm out here because I'm tired of being in the dorm."

And because I couldn't sleep but I find that part none of his business. Of course she had more to say, but she wasn't about to share. Sighing she laid back down on the ground, she wasn't worried about him. He seemed harmless to her, or at least right this second anyway. If he was lying about the free pass, she couldn't tell right this second. Now if he had any ideas about hurting her, she'd just use her power empathic manipulation power on him. If she touched him of course, she wouldn't dare try without.

Seth let out a small groan. While he was trying to do the kind thing and give her a easy out, she was just too noble to even agree with it. Well maybe noble was the wrong word. "Amelia Ramos," He repeated, unsurprised that the name didn't jog a memory.

Leaning back, he listened as she complained about being restless, confined into the dorms. He shrugged off what was probably a half-truth. Almost everyone grew tired of being confined to the same stuffy building at one point or another. "Well, I suppose we could wait a few hours before I escort you back anyways, just don't try to run off. The results won't be plesant."

The young man fell backwards, resting in the sand, enjoying the gritting feeling of the minerals as it pressed against his skin and clothing.

Amelia still didn't understand what he had been talking about. "No really what is this free pass you are talking about? Are you trying to scare me or something?" She was really confused, she hadn't heard of such a thing and she lived at the school. Seems I've been reading to many books, again. She smiled seeing him leaning back. Seemed he was enjoying himself out here too. It was nice being out doors, she laid back down in the sand and looked up at the stars. She wouldn't run off but she dared the question anyway, "What are you going to do? Jump me?" She laughed, not believing he would do such a thing. No she wouldn't have it come to that, she'd come willingly, she just wanted to hear his answer now. He is giving me free time outside, cool. She looked up at the night sky, she couldn't help but love it.

With him laying in the sand too, she felt it was time to go in the water. To late, if I'm going back... I better go swimming first. Now it was her turn to scare him, she got up quickly and ran towards the water, throwing her shoes on the dirt and went in. Half of her pink dress was soaked, and stuck to her skin. Oops I forgot about that... To hide her embarrassment, she took in a deep breath and ducked under the water. Not thinking about the rest of her dress getting wet in the progress. She came back up, boy it was cold.... Now where did Seth go? She searched.

"Sometimes, with some powers comes mutations, or psycological disadvantages that force a person to need certain physical stimulations. It could be as simple as having gills, or having a need to be surrounded by water. In fact there's a rumor going around that there's currently a student living in the water, not sure why, but that's an example of psyocological mutation. For situations like that, it's best to try and help the student rather than break them mentally. With powers like ours, sanity and morality are things that we need in order to prevent catastrophies." Seth sighed at that, thinking about the Battle Front and how they tried to flaunt all rules. "It's why we try to maintain such a strict school code, actually."

"As for trying to stop you, the easiest thing would be to turn that sand you're sitting on and turn it into fumed silica. It'd be quite similar to quicksand actually." He paused in his ramblings as the sand rustled beside him, and slowly stood up, watching as the girl ran towards the water.

Seth frowned, wondering if she would try to run off again, but due to her low hostility and amicable attitude he would allow her the minor freedom of going into the water. He stood up and shook his hair out slightly while walking to the edge of the water, watching the girl's clothes get soaked and cling to her dress. He let out a small sigh, admiring the girl's lith frame while trying to convince himself he was just making sure she didn't make an attempt to run away.

Amelia was looking at him, having a hard time believing him. He seemed to believe it to be true, she couldn't tell if the rumor was true or not. She could tell just by looking at him that he himself seemed to believe it. There was something nice about this guy, this perfect. He was smart too, it wasn't everyday that you seen another smart person walking around. She stayed quiet, not sure what else to say about the subject. She didn't dare say that she didn't believe it, but she really didn't. It wouldn't keep her from going in the water. "I can handle my own powers just fine... I just choose to stay here." She didn't finish, she could have run away but she wouldn't have anywhere else to go. Home was gone, her parents was gone, that was the end. Here was the only home she had left.

"This isn't the only time I broke the code, but sneaking out of the dorms at night is just about it. I haven't done anything else that would count as rule breaking." Complaining to the school for not letting her skip more grades didn't count, and neither did correcting the teacher in front of the students. "I'm not sure how you'd plan on doing that..." She paused thinking to herself she better shut up before he decided to show her. She seen Seth standing by the edge of the water, staring at her. Another blush on her cheeks before she went back under the water. Oh how nice the water is now... not so cold now is it? She thought she felt something touch her foot and she came back up. She looked around for a long movement before something grabbed her ankle and pulled her under the water, lucky for her she had taken a breath before going down.

Seconds passed, then a minute. Time was still going and she still hadn't returned up. Under the water, Amelia was kicking the thing that had it's grip on her foot, but because it was dark, she couldn't quiet figure out what the thing was. It was hard seeing under the water, it was black when it was night time. Forcing herself to hold her breath longer, she finally stopped kicking the thing and let it continue pulling her down.

Seth mostly found it amusing that the girl was telling about multiple infrindgements upon school rules. There was no time limit on drawing up punishments, but he supposed that it was pointless to point this out as it would be such a mood killer. He smiled, although pulling her out of the water, soaked as she was would defiantly be quite amusing. He paused slightly, at that thought, it seemed that he was falling for the corrupt sight in front of him.

Either way, moral and hormones aside, his attention was quickly focused back on Amelia when she surfaced again. He couldn't help the small grin that popped up on his face only to frown as she quickly submerged again after taking a quick gasp of air. He frowned, something seemed off.

Fearful for the situation, Seth performed a few quick transmutations, turning his nail plate on his thumb into a thin razor chitin and quickly cutting into his stomach, before performing another transmutation to turn some of his own body fat into linseed oil that quickly soaked into a rag pressed to the wound. He shook his hand, watching as the nail plate flew off his finger and blood flowed freely from his thumb, while he took out a stone of magneisum and wrapped the rag around it.

It had already been 20 seconds. That was more than enough time to at least assume that Amelia had tried to run off, if it wasn't something more sinister. Quickly running off into the water, Seth threw the stone further ahead watching as it hit the water. Taking a deep breath, he jumped into the water and activated another quick transmutation, forming some barium around the stone. Instantly a bright flash formed in the water, Illuminated the depths of the ocean with a green light bright enough to see the girl floundering below. He paused trying to get an assement of the situation.

Who knew how long it had been that Amelia had been down under the water. Less then five minutes hopefully, even being dragged down below, a minute was enough for her to have some problems. She was having a very hard time thinking straight, trying to pull herself up and kicking at the thing at the same time. She just couldn't see passed the dark colored water. She moved her arms up, trying to pull the weight of herself and the thing out of the water. Failure. The thing, what ever it might have been was to strong. All she could see was the water getting deeper and deeper. She felt her body being dragged farther into the ocean and farther down. She felt doomed, as if her life was finally over. It almost seemed like it when she seen a light under the water. Fear swept over her.

What ever the thing was, it let go as soon as the light came near it. She hadn't seen the thing, time was running out, she had been under the water way to long. Her mouth slowly opened as if air would suddenly come in... Her eyes shut.

Seth frowned as he watched the girl sink farther into the water before forwning slight, and quickly swimming after her. At the moment, he really wished he could produce an electrical charge, being capable of electroysis would be a useful ability at the moment, but he could do no more than break apart the water molecules into their base components, and hope that he didn't screw up too badly.

Finally, after a few dreadful minutes of swimming, he finally managed to grab onto the girl, and noticed that her mouth slowly opened. Fearing that she was already suffering much greater effects from having been underwater so long, Seth quickly pressed his mouth to hers, breaking down the water in both of their mouths, along with his exhalation. It left quite the salty taste, but the additional oxygen should keep her from suffering too much, hopefully.

Gritting his teeth, he didn't worry about what ifs and pulled the girl to the surface.

Amelia would have struggled from the thing that had just grabbed her but she was to weak from fighting the thing that had grabbed her ankle. Then something was up against her lips. She didn't react because she was knocked out from no oxygen entering into her system. Having the water break down and having some oxygen from the male helped her body breath, just slightly. There was still water in her lungs that needed to come out one way or another. Her body was pulled out of the water, dragged on the sand away from the water. Since her mouth was still open, oxygen continued going into her body, allowing her to take deeper breaths. Her eyes open and she turned on her side coughing up water. What just happened? She laid back down on her back and looked up.

Oh the stars are so pretty... She thought to herself, as if she was in a daze. She wasn't sure how she had lived through it, but the male next to her, she turned her head to see him. Seth had saved her, she needed to speak up, she was being rude. He deserved to hear a thank you, and yet no words came out of her mouth. Thank you Seth... For somebody that almost drowned she sure had a lot of thoughts flooding her mind. She coughed, trying to make out some words. "Thank you for saving me Seth." She couldn't help but hope that he wouldn't start claiming that the myth was real because she wouldn't hear anything about it. As far she was concerned she had just been got by sea weed or something. Of course right this second she was scared to go back in the water, but still wasn't ready to move.

It was quite easy to be fustrated with the current situation, as Seth simply sat next to Amelia, holding onto her and making sure nothing horrible went wrong, like the girl choking on her own vomit. Usually, Seth was quite capable with a multitude of situations, but he didn't know enough about human anatomy to try something stupid, not after a few of his own failed attempts at selftransmutation that resulted in quite serious injuries.

He let out a relieved sigh as he watched the girl's eyes more or less focus, although on what he couldn't quite tell. With out the constant need to watch over Amelia for sudden changes in her situation, Seth's thoughts turned back towards the events underwater. That defiantly wasn't some swimming accident, or the results of some vegitation. She decended way to far, way to fast for it to be something like that. It's too bad I couldn't produce a brighter flare though, I'll have to practice that chain of transmutes later, or maybe just carry around the base elements....

He blinked as the girl mummered her thanks, and let out a low chuckled. Having no experience comforting many people in his life, his actions mimicked what he would do for his sister, and he stroked the girls hair out. "Think nothing of it." He said.

Amelia continued to breath in and out. This had never happened to her before. Yeah it bothered her some that she had almost drown, but it didn't mean that rumor was true. It was just bad luck as she saw it. She blinked a few times, still looking up at the sky. Talk about a close call. Slowly she started to sit up, trying to straighten her back just looking around her. This isn't going to keep me from sneaking out at night. In fact I'm kind of wondering what that was down there. Maybe I'll go back later to check it out. It made her feel better to hear Seth chuckle. Maybe he didn't think it was a big deal either, she didn't care it wouldn't stop her from going back even if he did care. She had nothing else to loss but it was better to sneak out at night then stay in a dorm all night long.

She wasn't about to share her secrets of going out again, tomorrow night. She'd also be sure to be more careful when it came to being loud outside. She could have sworn she had been alone, meaning her loud mouth brought attention to her. Still not ready to go, she laid back down to star at the stars. "The stars are pretty." Her clothes would take forever to dry, they still stuck to her body.
