Myra stared up at him with eyes as big as saucers, but she didn't try and run away. Not yet, st least. While she was shaking like a leaf, she was fairly certain that she couldn't make her legs move beyond that. If she tried to run she would probably fall flat on her face because her feet got tangled up so she would be scared and bruised instead. That didn't seem like a good idea. Not one bit. So instead of trying to get up -and stay up- and bolt, she kept on staring at him as he inched closer, trying to calm herself.
She squeaked when he took her hand even though his turned back into a human's at the same time. She couldn't help it. She was so unused to anyone touching her, let alone a ten foot tall lizard man that still somehow kept his voice and sounded like her friend. But she didn't try to yank her hand away from him. Weird. Sure, his scaly appearance didn't push her over the edge but surely touch would. At least that was her thinking. W-wait...he's touch-touching me! She suddenly got scared all over again and hurriedly touched her skin with her free hand, trying to find any traces of her venom. No, no, no, she'd just made her first friend, she couldn't poison him! She didn't know what she would do if that happened. Even if he lived he would never forgive her.
She wouldn't deserve to be forgiven either, poisoning him when he was only trying to help her and-- wait a minute. Her skin was dry. Dry. Her chromatophores were still going but she wasn't secreting anything toxic. He had somehow wormed his way into her subconscious and turned her venom switch off. She was sure that she had a look of wonderment and awe on her face but she didn't really really care. She would be embarrassed later, when she as alone in her room and thinking back on it. When he pulled her closer and into a hug -one of her very first- she didn't jerk back like he was on fire. Instead she snuggled into him, actually wanting to be closer.
She sniffed, curling into him. "I-I'm sor-ry..." She didn't know what she was apologizing for. At least, which thing she was apologizing most for. Being a coward, yes. Reacting to him like that, definitely. Almost poisoning him, probably. She closed her eyes, finally starting to relax against him. She'd never been this close to another person for a prolonged period of time. She liked it. He was warm too. Because of how small she was she didn't exactly generate a whole lot of body heat, so she was pretty much always a teeny bit chilly...yes she was on a tropical island in the Pacific ocean but she couldn't help it if her internal temperature was stubborn and Scandinavian.
She smiled a little even when he said she was sage with him. She believed it. He could snap her like a toothpick without breaking a sweat and yet his hug was just tight enough to make it feel like an actual, real hug, but not enough that she freaked out.
In fact, if she wasn't careful she would nod off right there in his arms. He was like a big, electric blanket. Scales optional.
