Calista clenched her eyes, her body was curled into a ball of her room in the West Tower. They were coming for her. She could feel it. In a matter of moments, she would be dead or worse at the hands of the government. Was this her fate? To fight for her cause with everything she had, to give everything for the greater good of all gifted. A world of equality, hah! That dream seemed long gone now.
Tears streamed freely down her face, as she thought about all she would be leaving behind. When it occurred to her, there was nothing left. Her family hated her. She was useless to the battlefront now that she wasn't a spy. Everyone hated her. She had the blood of her unborn niece or nephew on her hands. She was a monster.
It seemed like the fate of all gifted was to die in some brutal manner. To be betrayed by those they cared about. To fight each other like animals, trapped within these blood-stained walls. There was no escape from it. That wasn't really true, though. There was one escape and Calista had been so close. Death wasn't a monster, it was a savior. Calista had almost reached it, she had almost broken free of this life of destruction, pain and tragedy. This cruel thing they called life. Meredith had stopped her. How could the prefect leader possibly call that 'saving' Calista? Meredith had doomed her. Calista got to live, just to witness one of her few friends die.
She let out a sob, a sad, broken sob. She would be killed soon, and so would everyone she loved. The government would spare no one and there was nothing she could do to save them.
'But, there is something you can do...you can save them, you can save them all...' A voice whispered the intoxicating concept to her.
"What?! Who are you?" Calista stood and called through the empty room, but saw no one. The shadows in the room seemed to shift and grow restless. The voice laughed. That laugh was familiar....it was Calista's own. The dark haired teen dropped back to the floor, burying her face in her hands.
"How?...all I do is destroy everything. Everyone I love, they all suffer because of me." She sobbed. Seth, Lelouch, Chandler, Bridget, and even Meredith...they would all have been better off without her. The voice laughed again.
'the way you know best. The only way to end their suffering
"I-I can't do that. I can't..." Even if she wanted to, how would she? How could she even attempt such a feat?
'You can do it, Calista. I know you can...I am you after-all...we'll do it together. You can save them.' Something inside Calista seemed to grow and shift, the shadows in the room began to grow restless. Slowly, Calista rose to her feet. A small smile began to grow on her face, a sadistic, cruel, smile.
She laughed, it was creepy sound that echoed through the empty room and when she looked up, her eyes were completely black, without any iris, like empty holes.
"I-I can save them..." Calista walked to the window in her room, she raised a fist and threw it forward, watching as the glass shattered into pieces, the little bits creating lines of red down her arm.
"heh..how pretty... she mused, as she saw the streaks of crimson against her snow white skin. She stared out at the expanse of the island before her. She would save them all. as she lifted her hands, shadows began to rise from wherever they may be. She smiled darkly, and with a simple wave of her hand, they began to spread over the island, coating it in complete darkness, snuffing out any and all light and turning the once blue-sky completely dark. Pitch Black.
Calista smiled proudly at her handiwork, before turning to the door. It was time to get started. She ran with an inhuman like grace, as if her feet were barely touching the ground. Just as helicopters began to land on the island, carrying the government and whatever plans they may have. It was too bad, though. Because Calista would beat them to whatever they had planned for the Gifted.
