Basics
Name: Oliver Scott Grey
Nicknames: Scott (preferred name), Grey
Age: 17
Birthday: January 19
Grade: 11th
Power:
Bio-Electricity Manipulation - Oliver possesses the ability to control the bio-electric energy present within his body, which is produced in excessive amounts thanks to the mutation which originally granted him his ability. This electricity can be utilized to a variety of effects. He can channel through his skin, electrifying it to shock anyone coming in contact with him, help repel attacks from metallic objects, or even temporarily allow himself to cling to certain surfaces such as metal. The bio-electricity can also be formed into constructs, which appear a luminescent yellow color. These constructs can be used as weapons, dealing damage via electric shock, shields, or tools, and have a durability equivalent to the amount of bio-electricity left in Oliver's body, unless they are acted upon by an energy disturbing ability. He can also release this energy in blasts, fields or waves to deal damage. Prolonged contact with an enemy can actually allow him to use his bio-electric energy to temporarily interfere with body rhythms to produce effects such as muscle weakness or stunning.
This ability does of course, have its limitations. These limitations arise primarily because of the fact that he is using his own bio-electric energy to fuel the techniques that he uses. When disengaging a construct or after running a charge through his skin, some of the electricity can be reabsorbed into his body. However, after firing a blast, field or wave, as well as when disrupting someone else's bio-electric rhythm or if a construct is destroyed, this energy can not be reabsorbed. Because bio-electricity is essential for vital body functions, this can be dangerous. Although Oliver does have a much greater store of bio-electricity than the average human, his store is limited. If he uses too much of his energy at one time, it can cause severe pain, fatigue, and muscle weakness. If he pushes past that limit, he runs a risk of fainting, temporary coma, or worse. At present, Oliver is only capable of releasing a maximum of 5 or 6 blasts, waves or fields of electricity before he needs to give his body some time to recharge. Constructs made while his bio-electricity is low will be less durable, and the damage from them would be greatly lessened.
Neural Impulse Control (Self) - Oliver's control of bio-electricity extends as far within his own body as the electrical energy used in neural impulses; the signals which allow the brain to communicate with the rest of the body via nerves. At present, Oliver is only able to manipulate his own neural impulses, and only to a slight degree, but this ability can be used to useful effect. In combat he can increase the speed of his neural impulses and the amount of electricity used to stimulate muscles, which results in release of some adrenaline and thus increased strength (about 75% increase) and reaction time. In addition, he can create the same effect within his brain to improve his reflexes and enhance his senses. This ability is limited primarily by his understanding of his nervous system and the delicacy required to perform these operations. He must take time to make sure this ability is used correctly and so can not simply activate it at the tip of a hat. In addition, keeping this ability active for too long without allowing his body to rest runs the same risks as using too much of his bio-electricity. Fatigue, pain, muscle weakness, and potentially even fainting, temporary coma or worse can result.

Appearance:
Overall Oliver, is quite an attractive, athletic young man, aside from being a bit small for his age. He stands between 5'6" and 5'7", weighing in about 130 lbs. This gives him a slimmer build, which fits his height quite well. Despite being shorter, Oliver has always taken good care of his body. Most of his weight is made up of lean muscle, and he is quite toned for his size thanks to his history as a track runner. He also has the hallmark longer legs of a runner as well. His features are almost graceful, with a more triangular chin and high jawline. His nose as well is smaller and angular, with a smaller mouth to match. His eyes are perhaps the most unique part of Oliver's appearance, being an almost iridescent violet color. His hair is blond and mid length, falling to the back of his neck at all sides. He tends to keep it styled messily, with bangs falling to cover his forehead and frame his face.
Oliver's style tends be very athletic. Since his power would render any normal clothes ashes, he tends to wear sports clothes made of fabrics like neoprene, which tend to be more insulated by nature. In accordance with his personality, these clothes are often more form fitting, partially for combat effectiveness, and partially for the purpose of showing off. He always wears a pair of gloves when not fighting, which are insulated themselves to prevent others from being accidentally shocked. He always wears a silver chain around his neck, bearing a small symbol in the shape of a "G." This is a gift from his father, and something he wears at all times. In a fight, this chain can often be seen sparking with yellow electricity.

Overall Personality:
Overall, Oliver's personality is hallmarked by confidence. He rarely doubts himself, and this spills over into much of the way he interacts with people around him. He is, in general, very outgoing and friendly. He enjoys being in groups and social settings, and rarely gets nervous in such cases. He is in fact a show off when it comes to his physical and intellectual talents, and rarely misses an opportunity to do so. This is doubly so around girls. He can be incredibly flirty when the time is right, and will not hesitate to make a move on someone he finds interest in. To those that he counts as friends, he is very loyal and dedicated. He will do whatever is needed to make sure that they are safe. He can be very stubborn and willful however, and sometimes makes enemies because of this.
When it comes to conflict, Oliver is, well, conflicted. He is willing to stand up for himself and others, and will not run away if a fight seems unavoidable. At the same time, he dislikes unnecessary confrontation, partially because of his fear of losing control of his power again. He also realizes that fighting puts everyone in danger, not just himself, and doesn't want to see friends hurt either because they were helping or because they were caught in the crossfire. At the same time, there are certain topics that really push his buttons. People who carelessly use their powers, or who talk big but don't act on their words infuriate him to no end. This often results in him being angry, but conflicted over whether to physically deal with the problem. This can be a weakness in combat situations.
Oliver's feelings about his powers are mixed. His confidence can sometimes manifest as over confidence, both in his abilities and himself as a person. This, combined with his tendency to show off, and his understanding of how his powers work, results in him having the potential to make him quick on the draw so to speak. However, at the same time, he has a deathly fear of losing control of himself again and someone getting hurt. This makes him wary about to what extent or when to use his powers. What this often results in is him holding back when fighting; not using his powers to the full, but what he perceives as just enough to get the job done. This can put both himself and those who fight with him in danger.

History:
Oliver Grey was born in a small town outside of Chicago, Illinois, to Susan and Henry Grey. His father was a chemist, working for a pharmaceutical company in the city, while his mother worked near their home as a nurse in the town's very small hospital. Oliver's early life was quite simple. He often spent much time alone, since his mother worked late often and wasn't home until night time, and his father had to leave for the city any time he recieved a project that needed his attention. Though his parents provided for him and spent as much time with him as they could, a lot of his childhood was spent with babysitters. When he entered school at the age of 4, Oliver was actually quite shy. He had few friends, and found it difficult to be social for some time.
It was in 4th grade, when Oliver was about 9, that he finally came out of his shell. After so long without any real attention from his parents, he began to realize that he could get attention from the students around him. Even as a child, Oliver was quite the attractive guy, smart as well; and when he started showing his personality around others, he quickly started to make friends. By the end of his time in elementary school, he was quite popular, but began to shut down at home. Though he was confident and outgoing at school, he didn't feel comfortable with his parents. This distance only continued to widen as Oliver went through his schooling. By age 13, in 8th grade, Oliver was dating, sneaking out of the house and had generally developed a disdain for his parents. Fighting began to break out, with Oliver often leaving the house afterwards to hang out with friends. On his 14th birthday, when he was entering high school, his father gave him a gift. It was a silver chain with an ornate "G" on it, surrounded by the crest of his family, which hailed from England. At the time he spurned the gift, and left it on his dresser, determined never to touch it or even take it out of the gift box it had been given to him in.
In high school, the trend continued, with his social life climbing, his confidence growing, but his relationship with his parents declining more and more. Halfway through his freshman year he had lost his virginity, more in spite of his parents than for care about the girl in question. He quickly joined the track team as well, finding himself very competitive, and good at the sport; he continued in it all the way up until he was taken to Ashford. As he approached his sixteenth birthday, things began to become strange for Oliver. He found that he often shocked himself, anytime he would touch something metal, even shocking a girl once in the middle of a kiss. After some time, electrical things began to act strange around him, TVs flicking on and off and radios shorting out. Trying to figure out what was going on, Oliver began to do research on electricity and the science surrounding it, searching for some kind of explanation about what was happening to him. Before he could figure anything out however, the unthinkable happened.
It was the night of his 16th birthday. His parents had gone to the trouble of arranging a surprise party, inviting several family members and friends of the family to the home to celebrate. Oliver had found out about the plans in advance, and instead had decided to go out with his friends for the night instead. He returned late, after 3 a.m. to find his parents home waiting for him. It was the biggest argument they had ever been in. They screamed at each other for what seemed like hours, but when his father pushed Oliver, things reached a head. Oliver moved to strike back at him, but instead fell to his knees, clutching his stomach. He fell onto his side, electricity sparking all around his body. What the family didn't realize was that earlier that evening, a very small leak of gas had begun from the stove in their home. With all the fighting and commotion, they hadn't noticed the smell, and the levels had not reached dangerous yet. However, it was at this moment that Oliver's powers manifested in full. An enormous wave of electric energy went out from his body as he lay curled up on the floor, and blasted through the entire house, igniting the gas.
His mother, standing closest to the kitchen, was killed instantly by the blast. His father, further away but closer to Oliver, was seriously electrocuted and injured by the blast as well. Laying on the floor and protected by a cocoon of electrical energy surrounding him, Oliver was unharmed, but half of the home was blown apart by the explosion. When Oliver recovered, several hours later, he found his father, burned and hurt but somehow still breathing. He searched through the house for his mother, but could find no body. Upon walking through the wreckage that used to be his room, he saw something shining in the ashes. It was the chain his father had given to him. He could only sit in the ashes, staring at the chain for what seemed like hours, before he heard sirens coming down the road. Afraid that he would be blamed for the explosion, he threw the chain around his neck and took off. It was several days later when he was found in Chicago, not by the police, but by Ashford. He was taken to the school, and for the past year has been training and learning more about his power in an attempt to control it, and one day return to some semblance of a normal life. Before long, he began to learn about all the students that had died in recent events at Ashford, and decided that he wanted to do something to protect them and try to keep some semblance of peace. It was because of that that he approached the prefects himself, and became a member.
