Basics
Name: Veronica Jane Knox
Nicknames: V, Ronnie, Nicci, Onika (younger sister)
Age: 16
Birthday: 3-24-99
Grade: 11th
Power:
Mental Projection: To put it plainly, she has the ability to bring her current thoughts, memories, and emotions into the physical field. She can project them from her mind, just as the name suggests. She can also project a sort of mental screen within her own mind to sort through information at a slightly faster rate, only as fast as she can read and arrange the mental screen. Normally, it appears as a screen in front of her, anyone behind her has the ability to see it. However, she cannot project her thoughts/emotions/memories onto someone else’s mind, this is a power that only works strictly on her. Of course, the larger the image/longer the thought/more intense feeling the more energy it takes out of her. In a way, she also relives the memories. Feeling the pain, joy or whatever emotion was going on during that time. She also must remain conscious while projecting the screen. Mainly she uses it to organize and look at the past, it can be a great way to explain something to someone. To show them what actually happened from her view. This is strictly her emotions, memories, and thoughts projected onto a screen.
Illusion Manipulation: Branching off of that mental manipulation she can also create illusion for other people. These illusions only effect two senses, sight and touch. If she’s creating a bird that bird cannot make sound, but you could feel the feathers. She’s limited to three small illusions or one large illusion that could take up majority of the room. She must remain conscious while doing so and focused on the illusion. If she loses that focus the illusion will begin to flicker before completely dissolving around her. The longest she’s been able to hold an illusion is twenty minutes.
Pain Inducement: This is a bit of a subcategory from her illusion manipulation, focusing on the touch aspect. She can create the illusion of pain within someone. She can target a specific area of the body or simply have the pain radiate everywhere. However, it is only an illusion so there is no actual harm inflicted upon the body. The same rules apply as above as well. She must remain conscious and she only has the ability to cause three people pain at once, the more people she has in pain the weaker the pain is. She can also only hold it for the twenty minutes. If she loses concentration the pain will fade quickly. As a side effect to this, she can project the pain but she can’t feel any pain herself. It’s like a safety for using the power, she’s void of the feeling herself so she doesn’t overly harm herself in the process by accident. That applies even when she isn’t using the power though.

Appearance:
Veronica is a little different from the normal, day to day teenager. The basics are normal, body structure and face. She stands around five feet, two and a half inches, fairly normal height, and weighs the average healthy weight for that height. She has some curves but nothing obnoxious or that makes her stand out. What does make her stand out is her hair and eyes. Her hair falls below her hips in long white, smooth strands. That’s right, white. Her eyes are an odd color that shifts between a red and a blue to a shade that is rather hard to name. Just under her left eye, travelling the length of her cheek is a small scar from a fight.
As for clothing, that’s also fairly normal. Often she wears a white tank top or tee shirt with a blue, long sleeve button up coat over it. Nearly always hanging open to show off that white shirt. A lot of the time she wears black pants or a black mini skirt. She also has a taking to black gloves or really any gloves. They hide the scars across her palms from the car accident she was in when she was little. She always has a pair on, no matter the time or place. And lastly, for shoes, she loves boots. Whether they’re mid-thigh length or shorter.
Personality
Overall Personality:
There has been a lot of change throughout her life which has morphed her personality to what it is today. When she was a toddler she was filled with laughter, talked to just about everyone and was like a little mother hen to her baby sister. Fast forward a few years she was quiet and solitary, going as far to blame herself for anything that went wrong. Now, after those years have passed and taking on responsibility with her friends she’s changed into something else altogether, proud, strong and stubborn. Yet, still it’s rather clear that her past have still left threads of personality traits. Those threads linking every event in her life to her current mind state and changing her personality accordingly.
Beginning with the longest and oldest thread of personality trait, it also happens to be the thread that remains the most deeply hidden. This is the motherly side, the caring heart that she still holds. When she grows close to someone or feels responsible for them she’ll act nearly motherly. Not nagging per say, but always checking to see if they’re okay or if they need her help. Small smiles and subtle gestures to those who are close to her heart. Those who are shown that affection are strictly members of her gang. Darker aspects that still remain are her insecurity that she’s going to harm someone she’s close to. Also, the fear that she’ll be left alone like she was all those years ago.
The next thread stems from her later childhood. This you’ll see when she’s out and about in public or forced to interact with new groups for the first few minutes. She’s very quiet, seldom to speak first. She’s also rather observant, almost in a way that calculating or as if she’s sizing you up. Which she is. She’s determining threat level, if you’re on her side or not. She’ll analyze the situation over and over, trying her best not to miss a beat. Her power tends to help in this area. This is also where she gets that habit of biding her time until the last possible second to make a move.
Last but not least, the most recent addition to her personality. A vibrant change from any other parts and usually occurs once she settles into her skin once more. Now more than ever she’s strong willed and brash. She’s not afraid to tell it how she sees it and if it needs to improvement. If you start to tick her off or go after her family she won’t hesitate to tear into you. Both verbally and physically. When needed she can very much be her own person and take control of the situation. This is also where she tends to get her attitude and backbone from. Backing down isn’t something she’ll easily do.

History:
There was a little trouble from the start with her life, nothing that couldn't be worked out over time. When Edward first heard of the pregnancy he was not thrilled. He never wanted to be a father, much less the father of a kid born from a past relationship. They had a few arguments over if they should get married, who the child would stay with and money. Yet, when the day came that Veronica came around Ed fell in love with her. A good thing too as her mother died delivering her. It was a tragic event but Veronica still had a loving father and soon had a stepmother to call her own.
When they got married Veronica was only three years old and things changed quickly. Her step mother did not enjoy the idea of having another woman's child in the house. And as soon as Elizabeth became pregnant Veronica was often forgot about. Her stepmother made sure all the attention was focused on her and her child. A sadness filled her little body that she didn't quite understand, the feeling of abandonment also began to bloom in her chest as she felt forgotten majority of the time. Just as her stepmother wanted. But the one thing her step mother didn't plan was Veronica's younger sister to take to her quickly.
While her stepmother tried to establish a wall between the two girls it didn't work. Her younger sister always seemed to crawl out her room and into Veronica's, they would play with V's dolls or stuffed animals when Victoria could finally hold onto them. Veronica adored her sister and her sister adored her. One of Vicky’s first words was 'Onika', her own way of pronouncing Veronica's name. Veronica's life was beginning to cheer up and continued to do so for the next four years, much to her step mother's displeasure. To Veronica it seemed everything was going to turn out just fine, until one night when she was seven.
They were in the car, on their way out to dinner for Veronica's birthday. While crossing the intersection their car was T-boned. Her father and younger sister were killed on impact. Veronica was sliced up pretty badly from the glass, the scars still remaining on her hands. Her step mother received a concussion and a broken arm. In one moment Veronica not only lost her most beloved family members but also her home. Of course her step mother blamed Veronica, they were out for her birthday after all. Not two days after the pair were cleared from the hospital they took a drive to an orphanage, one where Veronica would remain for several years.
At the orphanage she was very quiet and docile. She seemed to just be going through the motions, hardly saying a word to the other children. Her stepmother's idea that V caused the crash stuck in her mind. She still feels guilty to this day, partnered with the thought one day she'll end up hurting someone she cares for again. That was her life until she was about ten or eleven. That's when the head of the orphanage died. Suddenly it seemed like her world was crashing. She wondered where she would live, if she found a home at all. Would she get a horrible family or just relocated? What would happen to the others?
Troublesome thoughts wound around her head until Rex stepped up to the plate. She followed him quietly, only speaking up when spoken to and following commands easily. Several people said she was like a little doll, quietly sitting just out of site. While it was tricky at first they fell into a pattern of life and everything was turning around. Over time she became closer to Rex. it was almost like they were a duo. While V stayed out of the heavy duty gang business she still aided Rex when he needed it, watching his back for him and keeping the others in line. V remained very composed and subtle with her methods for the most part, still speaking quietly and only when she had to.
When she was fourteen the gang got into a fight with a rival gang. It wasn’t like these things were surprising, in fact they were rather normal. V was hopping around from person to person, trying to keep everyone safe but she slipped up. She wasn’t there to watch Rex’s back and he was stabbed. Rushing over to him she flipped. She couldn’t stand the thought of losing someone else in her family and she let all that pain in a single shot to the rival member standing over him. Before she even got there he was withering in pain from an unknown force, that is the exact moment she realized she had a power deep inside her. She wasn’t the only one as another member also discovered their gift that day.
They were able to scramble enough to win the fight and patch Rex up, but things changed after that. V had a gift and practiced it in private, only allowing Rex to know about it and eventually a new friend named Jason. Jason was a newer member of the gang but climbed the ranks quickly, establishing a third spot in the top ranking members. They were a trio, perfect too. Close friends, all bringing something new and brilliant to the table. All until the day that Jason betrayed them and had Rex dragged away to some place, never to be seen again.
V lost it for a moment, the sense of abandonment welling up in her chest when she found out Rex willingly walked away. Even if it was for the good of the group. Yet, with Jason and Rex gone she knew she had to step up now and take control. It took some time for the group to become functioning and she had to come out of her shell a bit. In fact, it even took a small fight within the group to show who really is boss. V had to duke it out for a while before coming out on top. A new, brasher and stronger Veronica came to the surface to protect her family. It was working well for a few months. Everything running smoothly once again, even with the loss of Rex weighing heavily on her mind.
Around the ten month mark she was walking around the streets by herself. Something she normally didn’t do but she needed to get away and clear her mind. Taking a shortcut through a back alley she heard footsteps coming up rapidly behind her. Figuring it was a member V took her time to turn around, which she shouldn’t have. By letting her guard down that moment she signed her fate away. A hand clamped over her mouth, a cloth with chloroform on it covered both her mouth and nose. Panicking she attacked the man who held it here, his body spasming in pain but it didn’t matter. In only a few moments she began to see black spots, falling to the ground with the man behind her. Hours later she woke up within Ashford Academy.
