Basics
Name: Devlin Alexander Ainsworth
Nicknames: Dev
Age: 17
Birthday: January 13
Grade: 11th
Power:
Intangibility: It's pretty much your every day randomly phasing through walls and furniture power. He can only bi-pass physical items, so mental blockages (such as telekinetic shields) are as solid to him as anyone else. How dense an object also effects how he can pass through it. The denser the object the longer and harder it takes for him to phase through. At the moment he can manage to get through walls and normal furniture, but anything thicker than that tends to cause issues. He can currently phase his entire body for a minute tops, anything longer he could forcibly get pulled back together and be stuck within something, probably leading to his death. He's also learning to phase other objects along with him. At the moment he's mastered his clothing and small objects he can hold in his hands.
Air Walking: This is the ability to run, walk, or jump on air as if it were a solid matter. Currently, this power is strictly limited to himself, meaning he can't take anything that isn't on his body with him. He can only last about five to ten minutes in the air before his power begins to falter and he begins to descend or flat out fall out of the air.
Peak Human Conditioning: In short, this makes him slightly tougher than the average person. He can jump higher, run longer, lift more, and has slightly better vision than the average Joe. In no way does this ability even come close to superhuman but it's helpful in preventing him from causing major damage to himself when he falls out of the air or take quite a few more blows in a fight.

Appearance:
Devlin tends to stand out a bit, or perhaps above a bit. He’s a monster in height landing somewhere around 6’7 the last time he checked. It’s also fair to say that he isn’t a bean pole like some other obnoxiously tall guys. He has broad shoulders and has been working to add a thick layer of muscle, in some places he’s more successful than others. His face follows the elongated pattern with a long thin nose and a pointed chin. His lips are also a pale pink and thin, often stretching out into a determined smirk. His eyes are very angular in shape, constantly shifting their shades of blue. However, his hair remains a constant shade of dark blue in choppy sections which fall into his face.
As for his style he tends to keep it pretty standard year around. Temperature tends not to bother him much, so he stays in pants nearly year round. He hates wearing shorts, even when he works out he’s in sweats. As for his shirt, that’s far more flexible. He’ll shift between short sleeves and longs sleeves depending on the season. Normally he’ll have a dark jacket to throw over himself when it’s needed. However, he does know how to clean up and is rather used to the constraints of a formal uniform. Rarely will he make adjustments or changes to it, besides occasionally rolling up his sleeves.
Personality
Overall Personality:
When people say damaged goods they can be one of two things. The first is completely shattered, broken beyond repair and simply useless. The second, it’s more or less in working order but still a little bruised and rough around the edges. Devlin is more or less the second, some damage running deep and others simply scratches on the surface.
A lighter aspect of his personality would be his interests how focused he can become on them. He can normally be found either be engaged in sparring or absorbed in something meticulous like drawing. While the two seem to be on opposite spectrums, it does give him a place to put his energy and calm down. Otherwise, he’ll often become distracted or bored when a challenge isn’t present, he begins to goof off and all productivity is lost for the moment. It’s the reason why his interest more or less revolve around tasks that require him to focus so he isn’t constantly goofing off.
Those scratches can cause some issues to arise now and then. He’s extremely competitive when it comes to just about everything he does. He wants to be the very best he can be and he’ll do anything to prove he can be. He constantly wants new challenges and he’s only content when he can meet those challenges. Otherwise, he can easily get frustrated and even get up into someone’s face depending on the activity. That ties into the very touchy topic of criticism. He’s fully aware he needs criticism to improve but that doesn’t mean he likes taking it from people. In some ways he’s a sore loser but he’ll use those experiences to build off of and improve himself for the next time.
That competitive nature branches off into a much deeper topic. Like most people he does have his share insecurities and the main one would be not being good enough, never living up to the expectations of others. While he’ll never admit it -he’s far too prideful for that- he does have an underlying fear that the friends he makes will eventually realize he isn’t worth their time and leave. It causes him to push as hard as he can in every activity, constantly proving himself. Even though, the only one he’s really proving anything to is himself and that’s never quite good enough.
Deeper damage also lies around his aggression and oddly enough, guilt. He can get very angry extremely quickly, far more than just his frustration when he isn’t able to do something. When people look down on him, insult his parents or money issues his temper flares up quickly. That anger is often used as displacement for his own self- hate and deep set guilt for, in his eyes, making his parents split up. He feels as if it was his fault because he wasn’t good enough and he put too much strain on them, both emotionally and financially. Yet, having never really talked about it, those issues continue to fester quietly and only see the light of day when someone mentions those things.

History:
Oddly enough, Devlin’s story starts out with the typical high school couple, the jock and the cheerleader. Devlin’s parents were high school sweethearts, finding themselves at the peak of social life in their prestigious academy. They were a lovely match in personality, looks, and academics. Yet, there was a vast difference between their home lives and family incomes. Kathleen’s family was born aristocrats, coming from a long and respected blood line. On the other hand, Emmet’s roots were much more modest and held no real economic value. In fact, the only reason Emmet attended the same school as Kathleen is because his father worked as the head of the history department and was able to get him in.
Despite their differences, the high school love birds continued to date throughout their college career and married soon after they were graduated. Not long after they got back from their honeymoon, Kathleen discovered she was pregnant and Devlin came into the word nine months later. In the beginning, all was well and the family managed to get by just fine, even with Kathleen quitting her job to stay at home with the baby. Emmet and Kathleen adored their little boy and showered him in love, yet that love would be no match for the cracks beginning to splinter between the two.
It wasn’t until he was six or so that he truly began to take in all the feuding between his parents. The small child had no clue that it was due to the fact his mother was tired of just barely getting by (as she didn’t go back to work once Devlin began school) on a gym teachers salary. In fact, she was sorely missing the extravagant life style of her past. But, instead Devlin felt as if he was to blame, as if he wasn’t good enough for his parents to stop their fighting and stick together. The boy began trying his absolute hardest in both academics and sports, finding he had a knack for anything on the physical aspect of school.
Sadly, no matter how hard little Devlin tried to mend the breaking bond between his parents, their home life continued to fall apart. It was only the next year that his mother disappeared in the dead of the night without a word to his father or Devlin. As he continued to grow up he found himself constantly questioning why she left, why he wasn’t a good enough reason to stay and how he could have possibly prevented it. He never got an answer to any of these questions which only built his frustration into a short fused temper and made him want to prove to someone, anyone (and most importantly himself, though he doesn’t realize it), that he is worth sticking around.
When he was thirteen his father acquired a job at one of the top boarding schools in the country, naturally he was able to bargain for his son to attend as well. However good his father’s intentions were, Devlin loathed his new school. He could smell the arrogance and snobbery before he even entered the school, and was met by disapproving looks from the other students. He felt like somewhat of an outsider, finding himself unused to the social customs of the legit children in the country. There was hope however, as he was able to expand his artistry skills with charcoal, allowing him a peaceful outlet that consumed his attentions, and he performed very well in the physical classes offered.
In fact, that’s where he met his rival and soon to be semi-friend, Arthur Bishop. The two made an unlikely pair that often drove each other to work harder and expand their skill in order to best the other. Author naturally wiped the floor with Devlin for quite some time, earning the boy’s respect and driving him to prove that he was capable to handle Author in a fight. It was during one of their many spars that the pair discovered their powers. A rather silly and curiosity sparking event that helped bond the two further, especially once the Ashford program came into the picture.
Devlin’s father was far less excited by the thought of sending his son away to another school. He looked to the future, hoping that it was aid Devlin in controlling his powers and he would be able to make something of himself with the aid of the school. So, reluctantly he agreed to send his son. Devlin was rather unsure about the decision himself, excited about the aspect of a new challenge, but he couldn’t deny the thought of leaving his father saddened him. Once he got to Ashford he was met with the familiar feeling of being an outsider but decided to cast it away. A few days after arriving to the school he was recruited to the prefects, a group he was interested in.
