Basics Gael Lennox
Nicknames: Nox
Age: 17
Birthday: March 14
Grade: 11th
Power:
Empathic Water Manipulation - This is the ability to generate, manipulate and control water in its various forms and states, depending upon the emotions the user of the power is feeling. Gael thus possesses the power to manipulate liquid water, ice, and steam/fog, depending upon which emotional state he is currently in. The downfall of this power lies in its elemental weaknesses, and its unpredictability even to him. Firstly, no matter what stage of water, fire or extreme heat can contest it easily. Fire can evaporate water into steam, dissipate steam entirely, and melt ice back down into water. As a result, a fight between he and fire user would drain him quickly, and likely come to a standstill. In addition, in every stage but ice, strong electrical current would also be very dangerous to him. Finally, as with any manipulation power, the larger scale the manipulation and the longer it is used, the more energy it takes. If used without caution, it can quickly tire him out, and even render him unconscious.
In addition, Gael does not have perfect control over his emotions. Through very intense concentration he can force himself into one of the emotional states which allows him access to a certain area of his powers, but this is unreliable and dangerous. What this means is that he is forced to work with whatever power his emotions grant him at the moment, which can be difficult or dangerous for him. In addition to this, if he is in a state of emotional flux, the power he has access to may randomly switch or change, which can make it difficult for him to fight effectively.
Neutral - When in a neutral emotional state, Gael possesses normal water manipulation. This allows him to manipulate the water around him. Besides actual bodies of water, he can even go so far as to manipulate the molecules of water in the air, which he can condense to create any of the three states of water to use, depending of course on the emotional state that he is currently in. While in this emotional state he has full manipulative control over liquid water. This means that he can create jets or waves of it to attack, create constructs out of it such as tendrils and shields, and manipulate its viscosity even to make it thick enough to entrap enemies or hit harder. The less ambient water or moisture there is to use, the more energy is required, and the more tired he will become at an accelerated rate.
Anger/Indignation - When in an angered or upset emotional state, Gael switches to the ability to manipulate water in the form of steam. This steam is superheated and thus capable of inflicting burns on contact with people and the environment. He can project this steam in blasts and waves, allowing him to use pseudo-air attacks with the steam to attack. With serious concentration, he can even coalesce the steam temporarily into scalding water, which can inflict even more serious burns, though this requires a very great amount of energy to accomplish. The major weakness of this power is its lack of defense. While it has versatile attacks and high damage potential, it also has no way of defending against attacks, either physical or energy based. This power conversely also uses the least amount of his energy, which allows him to use it for longer periods of time.
Cold/Distant/Sorrow - When in a sad, emotionally detached, or distant state Gael switches to the ability to manipulate water in the form of ice. He is able to freeze existing bodies of water into ice, which he can then use to attack and defend. Beyond this, he can even coalesce water molecules in the air to extreme density, causing them to snap freeze into ice, though this requires more energy and will tire him quickly. This is without a doubt his most defensive form, as he can make the ice thick and dense enough to resist most forms of assault very well, with the exception of those that produce large amounts of heat, which of course are able to melt the ice. In this emotional state he is unable to control liquid water, which means anything that can melt his ice renders him helpless. He can of course use ice to attack using spikes, spires, columns and projectiles, but the attacks are more linear which makes them easier to dodge.
Confused/Afraid - When in a confused or scared emotional state, Gael gains the ability to manipulate water in the form of fog. In this emotional state, he is able to mix the molecules of water in the air with the air itself, which creates a heavier, cloud-like form of water vapor. This fog is cold enough to cause hypothermia if exposed to it for long periods of time. This ability is primarily used for stealth, as Gael can shield entire areas from view at a time with his fog, allowing for escape maneuvers or hiding. In addition, the fog can be used to use pseudo-air attacks in the form of high speed blasts and waves, though the heaviness of it makes it difficult to aim, and the fog takes more time to get moving, making it a bit easier to dodge than the attacks he can use in his angry state.

Appearance:
Gael in general has a very graceful, gentle appearance. He is fairly tall, standing at around 5 feet and 10 inches, and weighs in on the lighter end of the spectrum, about 146 lbs. Though he is not very muscular, with a fairly average build, he does take care of his body and is in good shape. He has a slim, lithe frame with longer arms and legs, though his shoulders are fairly broad for his size. Notably, his hands are of normal size, but almost slim in their shape, with longer, graceful fingers perfect for turning the pages of a book. Gael's facial features match the rest of his body in their appearance. He has a high, slim, and very angular jawline, with a smaller, triangular chin. His cheekbones are set high and attractively defined, set just under his eyes. His eyes are more almond shaped, and a vivid amber color, with thin, tapering eyebrows above them. His nose is smaller and triangular; his mouth almost always turned up in a warm smile. Notably, his ears are a bit larger than normal, though they are generally covered by his hair. They are tapered at their tips naturally, giving them an almost pointed appearance.
Gale's skin is pale both by heritage and due to the large amount of time he spends indoors, as is his hair which is an off white, almost pearl-like color. His hair is long, reaching down to his shoulders and falling around his ears, giving him an almost fey-like appearance at first glance. It falls at the front in long bangs which cover the right side of his forehead and part of his right eye, as well as framing his face. In general his hair is well kept, though the way it grows makes it difficult to keep perfectly neat, and so it sometimes appears messy. In general Gael's style is very relaxed and comfortable. He prefers wearing fitted clothing like slimmer jeans and t-shirts. He likes to wear light coats, particularly one white affair that he can most usually be seen in. His favorite colors of clothing include white, black, and yellow. Two items that Gael can be seen with at all times are a tooth necklace, featuring a simple white cord threaded with shiny black teeth, and a large black satchel which he carries several of his favorite books in at all times.

Overall Personality:
Gael's personality is largely centered around kindness and empathy. His ability to detect people's emotions and they way that those emotions connect to their powers helps him to be very understanding of people around him. Because of this, he tends to be largely non-judgmental, and very accepting of people regardless of what kind of personality they may have. He tends to reach out to those around him and attempt to help them in any way that he can, sometimes even overextending himself in the course of doing so. One area in particular that he tries to assist people is in helping them to gain control and understanding of their powers. He is a loyal and trustworthy friend, and he greatly enjoys making new ones and meeting new people. He hates unnecessary violence and conflict, and will often try to diffuse a situation before engaging in a fight if at all possible.
When it comes to his interests, Gael's loves consist primarily of books and history, making him a perfect fit for his role of student council historian. He can often be found reading and re-reading his favorites, and loves to find and read new books, as well as collecting classic and rare works. His favorite past time is in fact sitting in the library where he does much of his work, reading with a cup of tea. Though his ability to fight with books and their pages is substantial, Gael is in fact loathe to do so, as it risks damage to the text. He prefers rather to trap his targets in illusions and either avoid conflict or allow his allies to do the real fighting. With regards to history, he firmly believes in the adage that those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it. He keeps personal journals in addition to his recording duties for the student council, and has a near-idetic memory besides, largely as a side effect of his psychometry.
Gael's fears and personal weaknesses largely revolve around the fact that his power sensing and psychometry are very difficult to control. He is in general very cautious and wary of violating people's privacy, but often breaches it unintentionally through only simple physical contact. This conflicts with his kind and outgoing personality, and often causes him emotional turmoil. Even without physical contact, simply being around gifted people causes him to sense very intimate parts of their personality where it is connected to their powers. Because this is largely uncontrollable, one of Gael's greatest fears is unintentionally offending someone and making an enemy. As the very first bad memory that he ever read was in fact the drowning of a person, which he was forced to fully experience, Gael also has a deathly fear of drowning himself which extends to swimming as well.
History
Family Members/guardians: Alec and Sarah Lennox (Mother and Father)
History:
Gael, in point of fact, had a very normal life up until he was 10 years old. He was born and grew up in a small suburban town just outside of Seattle, Washington. His parents, Alec and Sarah Lennox, were fairly normal as well, and were in fact engineers, working in the big city. Although his parents were loving and his home life quite good, Gael had troubles as a child. For much of his early life, he was a very quiet and reserved child. He had a lot of difficulty making friends and connections with others, and thus was quite lonely. He was, however, very smart. He advanced quickly through his classes, teachers stating that it was almost as if he never forgot anything he wrote down. Of course at so young an age, his power had not yet fully manifested, but the idetic memory that it brought him had. He could see everything he had ever written at his desks in his mind's eye, and call it to mind. It wasn't until Gael was 10 years old that he was, very forcefully, alerted to the true nature of his power.
That day, Gael was on a trip with his family into the city during one of Seattle's very rare days of nice weather. The three were visiting one of the city's parks; this one centered around a man-made lake. While sitting on the benches with his parents, Gael noticing a gleaming object on the grass at the edge of the lake, and approached to find a necklace lying there. Of course, being a curious child, he reached down and picked it up. Unbeknownst to Gael, a drowning had been committed at the park not two days prior, and the necklace belonged to the victim. It was a simple trinket, a white cord with gleaming, black teeth threaded through it. When Gael touched it however, his psychometry flared up for the first time. He was forced to experience, in detail, being drowned just as the previous owner had. After what seemed like a lifetime, Gael came to, his parents shouting and trying to wake him, panicked; the necklace still lay clutched in his hand. After a very stressful trip to the hospital, it was determined that nothing was wrong with him, and that it had been a mere dramatic episode.
Afraid of what his parents might think or what might happen to him, Gael kept his power hidden and went along with the story. Of course, his power did continue to manifest, and Gael was forced to learn to deal with it on his own. As the years passed, he actually began to become more and more empathetic and understanding of his fellow students. A bump in the hallway became a life story, and naturally through that story came empathy. Slowly he started to gain the kind heart that he has today, as well as developing some tolerance and control over his ability. Interestingly enough, he also began to make friends. He kept the truth of his new-found understanding hidden, afraid that his power would scare people and drive them away, especially those with bad memories or very private ones.
For a time, it seemed that he would be able to return to some semblance of a normal life; but of course, it couldn't last. Reading was a habit that Gael had picked up as a child, but it became even more entrenched as he started to come into his psychometry. With books, he could distract himself, take his mind away from the visions. It was at this time that he also started to develop an interest in history. The empathy that knowing even the recent past gave him towards students instilled in him the importance of history and the necessity that it be recorded. However, it was books that would reveal him to the world for what he was. Close to his 17th birthday, Gael was reading one of his favorite thriller novels quietly to himself, when suddenly a girl halfway across the room started screaming, describing the very scene he himself was reading. It took the teachers nearly an hour to calm her down. The girl was put out of school for some time, and before he knew it, Ashford was knocking at his door. His normal life was over.
When he reached the school, Gael was met with all new challenges as his power sensing began to manifest itself. For the first few months on campus, he kept his head down, spending much of his time alone in the library. But as he slowly started to learn how to control his powers, he began to venture out into the school and meet people, starting to make friends here as well. He decided that he would do all he could to use his powers to help people learn to control theirs, a sort of penance for the intrusions his powers often caused. It wasn't long before he also learned of the student council. He didn't agree with what he heard of Battle Front, and couldn't see himself aiding the Prefects, as much as he heard of their tyranny. As the student council seemed dedicated to protecting the students, and had the position open for a Historian, something right up his ally, it wasn't long before he had applied and become a member of the council as well.
