Marshal wasn't attracted to the tournament by fame or glory. Much like many of the others, he came for the prospect of winning. The prize of winning was so tantalizing that he felt the need to fight for it. This island was nothing like home. Sure, his family was here but they all seemed so distant. Nic had become his own person, V seemed always in the background somewhere, and Rex always seemed too afraid to talk. Whatever it was, Marshal felt utterly alone. He had no clue what it was about the island that made people that were family feel so distant.

Fighting here had a chance of escape, a chance of a new life. Wherever that was. He completely embraced the thought of dying on the island. It came to the point where he hadn't thought of fighting to his last breath for this freedom. After all, there wasn't much to live for on the island.

He entered the fighter's ring in a pair of worn shorts and wrapped fists, his shirt, a well fitting white tank. He awaited his opponent keeping his distance from whatever/whoever he was fighting. It was then that his opponent entered the ring.

This had to be a joke or one of those times where a person looked innocent but had some unseen power. Something that could kill him. The possibilities of the dangerous powers that this little girl had was something he had to figure out, and fast. "Are you lost?" He kept a defensive stance. This had to be a trick of some sort. Could she be a shifter too?

"Dancing bears, painted wings,"

Kia was excited - pumped up even. Her hands were into little balls of fists and she punched the air excitedly. This was going to be fun! She didn't care if she won or not, really. She was just here for the fun - the excitement! The thrill of the blood and pumping, and possibly, the sight of actual blood. Kia didn't like blood; heck, she didn't even like violence! But when the idea of entering a tournament reached her ears, Kia was all for it! No one to stop her from being reckless even though there wasn't anything she could do in the first place. Sure, she was good at fighting from the self-defense lesson she got when she was in middle school, but she never actually used them.

"Fun fun fun fun~!" She cheered, spinning a circle. Clasping her hands together, she gazed at the arena. Her eyes flittered from the corners of the arena to her own attire. She had her little performance outfit on, and it made her feel comfortable and pumped it. Kia had her usual smile as a voice grabbed her attention, which was hard to grab onto at times. She blinked, shaking head at the boy, "No, I'm supposed to be here... Wait, this is the tournament, right?"

She worried a bit, pacing in a circle. Had she gotten the location wrong? No, this was surely it, she was led here by other people, so she couldn't be wrong. She shook her head furiously, stopping mid-step. She took a deep breath and looked at Marshal, her eyes widening on how tall he was. She gulped softly, twiddling her thumbs. "You're, um, tall.... I wish I could be that all!" She gushed, stepping forward a little as she still maintained her distance, "Are you my opponent?"

"Things I almost remember."

"This is the tournament." he nodded before the small girl. Who appeared completely ready for a fight in clothing but looked less prepared in, well, everything else. She was way too small to pose a threat, unless she was some sort of rock manipulator or illusionist.

He nodded again to the girl's question of if he was her opponent. This had to be a joke but, it wasn't it couldn't be. Every detail of this girl was genuine. How could she be his opponent?

"Are you sure you want to do this?" he asked now concerned that she may get herself hurt than the idea of this being a trap. Kia was the most fragile looking thing he'd ever see. How could he hurt this girl?

Kia nodded, taking a deep breath at his comment. So far so good. She made it to the actual tournament, now all she had left was the actual match itself. It couldn't be that hard, could it? Just a punch here and a punch there and then 'BAM!' - instant win right there.

Then again, that's how it always worked in the movies.

She nodded again, this time puffing her cheeks out in frustration. "Of course I wanna do this~!" She reassured the boy, "I know what I signed up for. Now, come at me!" She stuck her tongue out playfully as a taunt, and already a plan was forming in her head. She turned her body sideways, her left leg a little to the right as she awaited the next move. Her eyes were narrowed softly, full of determination, but her cheerful, playful smile was still showing on her face.

'Come on running', she thought mischievously, getting her leg ready to kick in case he charged at her.

Marshal sighed, walking up to the girl as if he were disappointed in the entire situation. A little girl? He couldn't see anything at all threatening about the girl, she didn't have any markers of having any particular power that would be dangerous. But he did get a creepy feeling from her. He'd met a few too many crazies to take her completely as an innocent little girl.

But he assumed whatever kind of crazy she was, wether it was naive or sociopathic, she wanted to be entertained. He looked at her stance and her outfit, the way she was dressed and the way she had entered was reminiscent of a kick boxer. "Kickboxing?" he asked, "is that your style?"

If she had said yes or confirmed such a style he would nod, responding with an, "alright then," and a sigh as he'd get in a similar stance. He would hold out a knuckle as if to bump it, a sign that the fight would begin. At that instance he would wait for her to throw the punch, he was the uncertain one here. She was crazy.

If she had said no or confirmed a different kind of fighting he'd match it. There were a hundred different fighting style's here at the school.

Southpaw boxers, muay thai, kung fu, krav maga, karate, street fighting types (like Rex or Smith), and even those that seemed to have them all (much like Issac or Kiya). People here were the violent type, a fight was going to break out. When this would happen most went about their business or would get involved. Marshal, on the other hand, had no ties to most people, even those he recognized. Marshal wouldn't leave or help, he'd stay, watch, observe. It wasn't so much a matter of interest as it was a means of self preservation. Marshal learned more fighting from laying low at ashford than he ever did on the streets. Observed motion mimicry made him as good as the guy he was watching. And with his regular visits to the gym it was no surprise that he could match up to someone average in strength.
