Evan rolled his shoulder slightly, wincing as he felt a mild bit of pain. He was grateful that there was a class to train his powers in, but boy, did he get showed up by some of the older students. It was, in all honesty, a bit of a blow to his ego. Sure, he knew he would be the best around, but it still annoyed him to know that he was nowhere near the top, like he had once been. Sure, those wails and screams still haunted his dreams, but he had been considered one of the strongest in the group. To be knocked down a peg in front of pretty much the entire class was humiliating and embarrassing to say the least, though he managed to hold it together until after class, when he took his anger out on a punching bag instead of a person. That might have been how he screwed up his shoulder, seeing as he had not practiced his martial arts in a while. He tried not to focus on the pain and decided to turn his attention outward, to all of the young women around him. Some of them paid him no attention, and others looked at him with a startled look on their face, as if they had never seen a young man before. He grinned a little and winked at them, trying not to laugh when they blushed. The orange-haired young man had always been rather popular with his peers, mainly because of his laid back attitude and sense of humor. Of course, his good looks also helped a little, but, he was not about to brag. At least, not yet, anyway.
Evan decided to approach the group of girls with a confident grin and started chatting them up. He felt rather at ease once he was with them, even when he found out some of them had boyfriends. He had always found it easier to be around people than to be alone. When he was, his mind went to weird places, so he preferred interaction, that way he did not delve into the stranger parts of his psyche. “Hey ladies,” he said, flashing them all a charming smile, “How’s it hanging?” He attempted to wrap his arm around one of them casually, but she batted his arm away and he obliged her. After all, it would be rude to continue to invade a lady’s personal space without her permission. They chatted for several minutes about casual things, like the weather, how annoying school work was despite the fact they had so little of it, and how strange the school building looked. One of the girls in the group was newer to the school, and she thought that Evan might know why the school looked like a castle. Unfortunately, Evan knew about as much as the poor girl, so he merely scratched the back of his head and replied, “I’m sorry, Shelia, but I don’t know much about this place myself. I was just kinda put here, ya know?”
After a few minutes, the girls excused themselves from Evan’s presence. He smirked a little bit to himself; he had seen one of the girls eyeing him and made a mental note to himself to get her number later. He put his hands in his pockets and continued to walk down the hallway, noticing it was mostly women that he passed by. Of course, he was not really going to complain; he was into women, after all. Still, he had not realized how large of a percentage of the student body was female. Something in the back of his brain nagged him, as if to say something was not right, but he ignored it. He continued walking casually, only stopping when he brushed shoulders with a pretty, auburn-haired girl. He stopped for a moment to look at her with curious, ruby eyes before a flirtatious smirk took over his lips. “Woops, sorry about that. Seems that I’ve stumbled into an angel. What’s your name, beautiful?” He knew he was laying it on a little thick, but that was the idea. He was not honestly sure if it would work, but it would at least start a conversation. Even if she was not interested, it would still be nice to talk to someone, and maybe even answer his question about why there were so many girls at the school.
