Fire Augmentation - While Asher does not possess true fire manipulation, meaning that he is unable to generate fire from nothing at will, he possesses the ability to control fire or the reaction responsible for creating fire if it has already been created by some other means. Whether it be the small tongue of flame on a match or lighter, a bonfire or even the sparks created by metal on stone, Asher can take control of this fire and use it as his own. This can even extend to fire generated by another fire manipulator, in some circumstances. Once he has control of an existing flame, Asher can fully manipulate it as well. This means that beyond moving the flame about and shaping it, he can increase or decrease the amount, size and intensity of the flame at will. Using this ability he can flick on a lighter and generate a white hot jet of flame, or reduce a large amount of fire to nothing but hot air in moments. As he must for the moment maintain the cover he entered the school under, he currently feigns that he is a full on fire manipulator, using the lighter that he carries at all times as a kick starter. There are of course, limits to this ability.
If he should ever attempt to control the flame generated by another person (i.e. a fire manipulator) he would have to overcome that person's will power. It would become a battle of experience, will and control, and if Asher were to lose that battle he would have drained himself for nothing. While he himself is immune to flames, he would have wasted precious energy and put himself at a disadvantage. As a result this is a tactic that he rarely tries. In addition, the more drastic the augmentation to the flame he is controlling, the more energy required. For example, extinguishing a massive fire, or conversely turning a match flame *into* a massive fire takes large amounts of energy from him. Once an augmentation has been successful however, he does not have to keep expending energy to *keep* the fire augmented, as this becomes that flame's natural state. Following that line of reason however, it does require energy from him to continue to manipulate the same flame constantly. As a result of this, rather than use the finessed, constructed and quite constant style that most true fire manipulators use, Asher prefers to attack in tight blasts, jets and waves of intense fire to conserve energy and cause maximum damage.
Ash Manipulation - Asher's true weapon, and the one which he keeps almost exclusively hidden, is ash manipulation; meaning he is able to control matter which has been burnt to the endth degree. He can generate ash freely, but this requires a lot of energy, and given his first power, he finds it much more efficient to manipulate the matter he burns with his own flames. Manipulation of ash gives him several tools to use in battle, and several advantages over fully fledged fire users. Obviously, he can utilize ash for projectile attacks and constructs. At high speeds, ash can easily cut, or hit as hard as stone or steel. Because of it's nature, it can even compress tightly to strong bonds and appendages. In addition to this, because it can hold large amounts of thermal energy, freshly made ash is often as hot as the fire that made it, allowing it to deal extra burn damage on contact with a target. Interestingly, as a secondary usage, ash is completely burn proof. Ash is matter which has been burnt to the endth degree to the point where it is physically impossible for it burn further. It can hold massive quantities of thermal energy with no negative effects as a result of this. This means that besides using them to inflict secondary burn damage, Asher can use his ash constructs as a near perfect defense against fire based attacks, as blocking fire with his ash requires much less energy from him than tanking it directly on his skin. Despite these benefits and uses, there are of course drawbacks as well.
Obviously, the more ash being manipulated, and the larger or more complicated the construct, the more physical energy is required from Asher himself. At present, he is not able to main a single construct more massive than a small car for more than a few minutes, and can only keep control over a maximum 5 smaller constructs at a time before he will find himself rapidly losing energy. In addition to this, stress put on the constructs does drain energy from him personally in addition to the energy needed to manipulate them. Using a shield to absorb physical blows for example would tire him out more quickly with each blow the shield took. This applies to using his ash to block fire attacks as well, though it does require significantly less energy from him than blocking anything else.
Fire Immunity - Asher's skin, hair, teeth, eyes and internal organs are completely immune to burning by means of fire or any other means which deals damage by vibrating molecules until they combust or disintegrate. This is a natural and passive ability to protect himself from his own abilities, but also comes in handy in any conflict with a fire manipulator, as his body cannot be burned or damaged by even the hottest flames. However, there is a drawback to this ability. Like his other abilities, tanking of this damage directly does cause rapid exhaustion, which increases the hotter the flame his body is being hit by. If he is not careful, this can easily lead to unconsciousness and even a near comatose state of exhaustion, especially if he is also manipulating ash or flame while also resisting incoming damage. The hottest flame, white, he can not withstand on his full body for more than 2 minutes before passing out.

Appearance: Asher has a punkish look to him, a large part of his rebellion against the life which he was raised in. He generally keeps his very long hair tied back in a messy ponytail, which stretches a few inches down his back. At the front he also keeps it generally quite messy, though styled to a degree in a flashy, fan-like fashion, and bangs that fall to cover the right side of his face and somewhat cover his eye. Another interesting thing an observer may or may not notice about Asher's hair would be its color, which is of course a deep aqua blue. Having done so in direct defiance of the catholic boarding school where he spent much of his early life, it is his pride and joy and he tends to keep up with dyeing it. Underneath the dye, though few people will ever see it, his hair is a light, sandy brown. In addition, he wears colored contacts which he obtained after leaving the school as well, which turn his eyes a bright fiery red. He also uses the contacts to outwardly support his cover as a fire manipulator, claiming that the gift changed his eye color. Their actual color is a cool, almost mint green.
Physically speaking he is quite an attractive boy, with strong features reminiscent of his Scottish heritage. He has a strong, well defined jawline, broader cheekbones and a well shaped chin, which matches his intense eyes and naturally angled eyebrows. His ears are slightly larger than average, and angled, oddly matching the overall look though he dislikes their size personally. A teenage life spent largely on the streets has resulted in a rather hardened physique. While he is not a body builder or extremely buff by any means, plenty of fighting has left his shoulders, arms and abdominal muscles quite hardened and toned, matching his medium frame quite well. He stands at a height of 5'10", weighing in at a healthy 145 lbs.
Personality

Also include at least one strength and one weakness.[/b]- Asher is incredibly difficult to discourage or deter from something once he's set his mind to it, making him very goal-focused and *very* motivated in general.
Positive:
* Street Smart- Having spent most of his teenage life on the streets of Glasgow, Asher has developed quite bit a of street smarts; this makes him quick on the uptake, difficult to fool or take advantage of, and wary of almost everyone, which can often serve as a protection.
* "He's a scrapper, that one!"- While he has no formal martial arts training, Asher has been in more than a few street fights in his time, making him intuitive, difficult to take off guard, and a hard hitter.
* Fiercely Loyal- Though he is wary of almost anyone initially, once he has dedicated himself to a person or a cause, he is fiercely and almost unfailingly loyal and supportive.
* The Accent- Let's be honest here, it's a Scottish accent, it's baddass, 'nuff said. I mean c'mon.
* Fire Knowledge- As per his nature, Asher has done quite the large amount of research regarding fire and the science behind it; interestingly it's the one academic subject he knows very, very well.[/ul]
Negative:
* Pyromaniac...TF2 Be Damned- Asher is a certified, psychological pyromaniac. He is obsessed with setting things on fire and seeing them burn. This, in combination with his easy to provoke nature, often leads to...mysterious burning pyres found around the school. Among other things. Yeah...it's a problem.
* "What's the problem, /officer/?"- Asher has extreme issues with authority of all kinds. Cops, government, prefects, nuns especially. This causes him to rebel purely for rebellion's sake, which can make him a dangerous person to be around. Especially in a school like this.
* Cigarette Addiction- Asher is well and truly addicted to smoking, and usually has a pack smuggled on him somewhere at all times. Besides being distasteful to some people, this habit is also against the rules.
* Chaotic- Asher tends to act before thinking, causes trouble, and unless someone he's close to is involved, is very careless when it comes to people getting hurt or even killed. He's chaotic by nature, and this can put the people around him - or in his way - in serious danger.
* The Accent- OK we get it! You're cool! Jesus, man. [/ul]
Likes:
* The Unusual- Anything out of the ordinary; whether it be tattoos, art, a person, an idea, if it breaks the norm, he tends to be interested in it. Especially if it's against the rules.
* Cheeseburgers- The man is a massive fan of cheeseburgers. I mean, can ya blame him?
* Fighting- Asher is never more at home, or more pleased, than when in a good old fashioned scrap.[/ul]
Dislikes:
* Sour Things- Lemons, sour patch kids, these are things to avoid.
* Boredom- He can't stand to be bored, inactive or standing still in general. Even when standing around he can usually be seen flicking his lighter open and shut, just to keep himself moving.
* Betrayal- Anyone willing to betray friends or family, especially family, is on his list pretty much immediately. Despite his chaotic nature, once he has committed himself to someone or something, he is unfailingly loyal.[/ul]
Extra: Besides the other traits mentioned, Asher's current goal is to get out of the school as quickly as possible and by any means necessary. The longer he's away from his older brother, the longer he's afraid that he's out getting himself hurt or killed without someone to watch his back. To this day he carries his brother's lighter with him, given to him after the event that just preceded his being taken away. It is the *only* lighter he will use, and trying to take it...well...anyone smell burning hair?

History:
Asher and his brother Malcolm were born to the relatively normal household of Asher and Lara Klein in the highland area of Scotland. Their early life was relatively peaceful; like many of the people living in that area, Asher's family were in fact Roman Catholic, with his father actually being the deacon of their local church. Early life was simple, though by no means fun for the two brothers. They underwent baptism together as infants, and from that point on the two were inseparable. As children they attended church together, played together, and - almost always - got in trouble together. The two had a penchant for breaking the rules, and early memories for the two - around 5 years old and onward - were not pleasant. Their mother was distant and quite absent from their lives. However, their father, refusing to have misbehaving children in his house, would often resort to beatings, berating, and even locking the two in a cupboard with the order to "pray on their sins" for hours at a time; this last one became his "favored" punishment. Of course, these punishments did not do much to spur them towards "the faith." In fact it did quite the opposite.
The cupboard the two were often locked in one at a time had many supplies in it, but in particular, there were matches. Being twins the two easily developed similar tendencies and, locked in that cupboard for hours on end, the two quickly learned how fun it was to light the matches and watch them burn. Before long, both were getting in trouble on purpose, and spending the hours burning tissues and bits of things they smuggled in with them rather than praying. It was better that than have their father beat them, or call them the horrible things that he sometimes did. This went on for quite some time before the two boys made a mistake: they got caught. And what they got caught doing could not have been worse. Now age 12 and obsessed with fire and burning, the two stole a wooden cross from their parents' room, and smuggled it downstairs to light. The smoke alarm was what gave them away. At the sound of the blaring noise, their parents came rushing down the stairs. And when they saw what their sons had done? It was the final straw. After the beating of a lifetime, it was decided. They would be sent to the city. For catholic school.
Needless to say, the two were not happy, but packed up they were, and off they were sent to be "reformed." Of course this, too, was not exactly the most effective. "The devil's own stubbornness" was a trait their father often attributed to them. The beatings only increased once they reached the school. The classes were boring; and the nuns there, perhaps less forgiving than their father, did not take kindly to the boy's shenanigans, and certainly not to their pyromania. It wasn't long before two were fed up of life in "the love of the lord," though ironically the beatings and hardship, rather than separate the two, had drawn them closer together. Asher often fought with other students, and had few friends in the school. His brother though, was someone he knew would always have his back. He developed a strong loyalty and protective nature towards Malcolm, and when his brother divulged barely a year after their arrival that he was planning to run away from the school, Asher followed without hesitation. The two set a fire in the basement, and used the confusion to slip out the back of the school. Children, alone and without family to go back to though, where would they go? The two didn't know until they walked and hitched their way to a train station, and saw the city's name in big, glowing letters: Glasgow. It was a troublemaker's paradise; that was where they belonged.
Life on the streets of Glasgow was most certainly difficult as ever, but the two had their freedom. And together, they felt invincible. It wasn't long after they entered the city that they fell in with local gangs for protection and things they needed; besides, the two had no more stomach for authority, and they didn't mind them burning things. The two quickly gained notoriety as the "torch twins" among the city's less reputable denizens. They liked the name, but didn't realize how real it would become for them. At age 14, both of them manifested their gifts, almost simultaneously. Asher developing his ability to control charred matter and his pesudo-fire manipulation, and his brother developing full on fire manipulation itself. The two could not have been more delighted. With more than the power to do so, they broke from the gangs and started to roam on their own, causing trouble and mayhem wherever they went. Asher quickly adopted his blue hair and red contacts to set himself apart from his brother; as close as they were, he was quickly developing a love for the outlandish and different. During this time he also developed his habit for smoking, with his brother purchasing an old, antique lighter that the two shared; an IRA relic, in fact.
It wasn't until two years later that, once again, things would take a turn for the worse. The two were, as usual, causing trouble. Their target for the day, massive old apartment building that the two thought to be completely abandoned. The plan was to burn it down, and use the ashes to build a sculpture on the wreckage in defiance of the law. Unfortunately, their research was poorly done. And the two had neglected to discover that there were squatters still living inside. As soon as the building started to blaze they fleed, frightening the two as they came running panicked out of the building. As the two looked on in shock, the surprise and fear of the moment overcame Malcolm and he lost control, the building going up in a pillar of white flame high enough to see for miles around. Knowing the people had seen them, and knowing the police would be looking for the two of them after this, Asher did the only thing he could. He told his brother to run. Malcolm hesitated, but Asher demanded he go. Better that just one of them ended up in prison than both. Reaching into his coat pocket, Malcolm pulled the lighter the two had shared and gave it to Asher, lingering for a moment before sprinting off just as the sirens could be heard in the distance. Asher turned and boosted the flames even higher, burning the old building down to a cinder, turning as the police arrived and grandstanding to keep their attention. Needless to say, he was locked up, and awaiting trial when several very strange men came to his cell in the middle of the night several days later. After one hell of a struggle - and several broken noses - Asher was finally subdued, and soon boarded on a ship bound to, as the agents cuffing him put it, "a prison for his kind." Already contemplating the ways to get back to his brother, Asher went, determined that he would be back in no time.
