"Sleep soundly safe in your heart, You no longer have to face the evil in the dark." The voice cried as it sung out with heart-shattering-sorrow. Everything in the infirmary becoming dead-silent as the voice's owner sang the bitter-sweet words to the little blonde boy in his arms. "Just rest your mind, and leave your pain behind.... Remember softly, of a time when the world was so bright." His hands holding onto the child delicately like he was made of cracked glass. Which was unfortunately a close comparison. The fourteen year-old bright blue eyes were now dull, and lifeless. Two sapphire gems that had lost their shine, with dark circles covering them. His once glowing cream skin was now the color of ash. His body was battered, and beaten, covered cuts, bruises and dried blood.
Tears streamed down the Owner of the Voice's cheeks, and fell onto the boy's unresponsive face. It took everything for the young man to hold back his sobs. "You've fought so bravely, my brother. And so you can rest, for now there's nothing left to fear." He couldn't break down just yet. He needed to sing this last lullaby to his younger brother while he still had him. And he wouldn't let anyone take the sunshine away him until he was done. "Fighting onward, you dreamed unreachable things. But now your dreams carry you to a place where these things come true." As the words left his mouth, the older blonde started to choke up. He didn't believe in God or Heaven, but his little brother did. So deep down at his core, for his beloved brother's sake, he hoped that they existed.
He moved one of his hands over to his brother's, and held it gently to his lips before kissing it. "I'll hold your hand while you sleep. So don't be afraid, I won't let shadows touch your dreams." A pause. "Maybe in time, we'll leave this all behind. We'll look up skyward, and the stars, they will shine in your eyes" He pulled the boy's hand away from his mouth, and pressed it against his forehead as he finished singing. His own sapphire blues squeezed themselves shut as he broke down in tears. The nurses coming to pull him away from the body of the man's baby brother.

Then the world seemed to fade away, and was momentarily replaced with an inky blackness. However, that too disappeared as Liam opened his eyes. Without his contacts, his gem-like blue eyes stared at the sky, the sun almost completely set in the distance. The dream had ended, but for some reason the Prefect couldn't sake the feeling that it was something more; almost like that scattered dream was a far-off memory. "I want to connect the pieces..." He muttered under his breath as he sat up, and rubbed his eyes. Letting out a sigh he leaned against the tree, and stared out over the waterfall.
After a few more minutes passed by, and the sun had completely set - the darkness was cut through by little lights appearing around the young man. The fireflies had come out. Still to this day, following the wishes a certain little blonde boy to watch over his big brother.
