Basics
Name:Dexter HammondsNicknames:Dex/DaxAge:18Birthday:February 27thGrade:12thPower:Vertigo InducementCauses a disorientation of balance in an individual, causing them to stumble around or even fall. Basically the same as inducing the effects of spinning around for a while on a person, without the spinning part.He can do this to only one individual at a time in serious amounts, to a maximum of two in moderate amounts.Low to moderate inducements would be causing disorientation and unbalance in his individuals, making them less likely to hit him properly and more likely to stumble, trip, or slow down when they need to stop and think. The amount of time he can do this depends greatly on his physical condition at the time, but normally he can hold it up for about 5 minutes without any bodily harm to himself with a cool-down period of around 10 minutes until he can use it again. These low-moderate inducements does not require any buildup period and Dexter does not need to be in peak physical condition for him to use this.Much more drastic inducements of this power would include causing the subject to fall over and in extreme cases, momentarily create blind spots in their vision (similar to when you stand up so quickly and your vision starts going black and your head pounds). However, to get this extent it takes a lot of time with Dexter being unharmed, as the more vertigo he induces in a person, the more physically exhausted his body becomes and the more disoriented he also becomes. When he is harmed, it's a lot more difficult for him to get the energy he needs to cause extreme vertigo onto a person - and it'll exhaust him more quickly. If he is given enough time to cause blind spots in vision through extreme vertigo, it lasts maybe only 30 seconds then he has his normal cool-down period of 10 minutes unless he wishes to start causing a noticeable dent in his physical energy. He cannot ever induce unconsciousness.Sensory DeprivationDexter can cause the momentary loss or dulling of the basic five human senses in others, but not himself. These senses include vision, hearing, smell, taste, and touch. Dexter is only able to affect one person at a time with this skill, and he can limit a maximum of two senses at a time, and cause the momentary loss of only one at a time. He can dull one sense for about five minutes, two and a half if he's dulling two at the same time or if he's causing the loss of one. However, the loss of vision sense drains more energy out of him to block or restrain and it causes him to go out of breath if he keeps it up for longer than a minute.Vision"Dulling"Vision is a lot more complicated than the other senses to restrain, as he can restrain it in multiple ways. Dexter can inflict temporary colour blindness in individuals to different degrees - some people won't be able to see certain colours while the extreme would be only black and white. However, he does not use this often as it doesn't have much use. The other way he can affect vision is by creating blind spots or the loss of peripheral vision, forcing tunnel vision onto the person. Same as other restraining of senses, he can only keep this up for five minutes at a time and this one is special, having a ten minute cooldown versus the others that have a five minute cooldown."Loss"Dexter can cause a complete loss of sight for a very short period of time, only being about forty-five seconds with a cooldown of five minutes. The individual will lose all ability to see - although if the people uses other senses like echolocation or aura sensing, he cannot block that unless they do actually "see" the aura with their eyes, and not another sense.Hearing"Dulling"Dexter can cause a reduction in hearing. This is not hard to explain - he can make it feel as if the individual is wearing earplugs and can't hear outside noises as well as they otherwise could. This can last a maximum of five minutes on its own, before the power shuts itself off and goes on cooldown for five minutes."Loss"When one loses hearing, it's the same as being deaf. They can still feel vibrations, but their sense of hearing is completely gone. Someone could shoot a gun next to their ear and they would not notice. Dexter can keep this up for two minutes and a half with a five minute cool-down.Touch"Dulling"Dexter can cause people to feel less in their nerves, making them more immune to pain or unaware of the damage that was caused to them - both a good and a bad thing, as it causes people to pay less attention to how hurt they are so they don't realize the damage that has been done to them, but it's also good as it means they can go on for longer while in pain. However, this does not make them stronger in any way and they're still limited as anyone else is, just without feeling as much pain. He can keep this up for five minutes before it shuts off on its own, with a five minute cool-down."Loss"Same as dulling, except to an extreme extent by causing the individual to feel nothing - not the wind on their face, not the clothes they wear, not pain, etc. Can last up to two and a half minutes, same cool-down as the other powers.Smell"Dulling"Although not as exciting, Dexter can cause people to lose part of their smell, rendering them almost incapable of smelling mouth-watering dishes or saving them from smelling disgusting things in a public restroom. This can mainly just be used to mess with people and can only last up to five minutes, with equal amount of cool-down time."Loss"Not much is different about this, except that he causes complete loss of smell for a maximum of two minutes and a half.Taste"Dulling"Dexter can cause people to lose part of their taste, making their food less interesting and doing not much else other than confusing people when they're eating. This lasts up to five minutes and has the same amount of cooldown, as all other subpowers of his sensory deprivation."Loss"Dexter can make people have very, very bland meals for about two and half minutes at maximum, as he can cause their tastebuds to completely lose all ability to do their job. Five minute cooldown, as well.Enhanced ReflexesDexter is able to react a lot faster to things than most other people. If you throw a punch at him, he's a lot more likely to respond to it very quickly and avoid it, unless you throw him completely off-guard or hit him where he can't see you. This is not to the extent of Dexter being able to dodge bullets midair or react instantaneously - he just has peak reflexes like someone who has been trained their whole life to react to things as fast as they can. However, this makes him a bit skittish so when someone even pretends to throw a punch, he tends to try to dodge it unless he knows its a fake.Member Group:

Non-canon.Appearance:
Dexter has somewhat short, dark-brown hair that reaches down his neck, coupled with a bit of unshaved stubble around his moustache area and jawline and a well-kept beard. His face is cut as if it were a sculpture - very carefully moulded with jagged points and a prominent jawline. His eyes are a vibrant blue with pale, light brown flecks near the pupil. He looks relatively old for his age as he doesn't sleep as well, giving him bags and lines under his eyes and some wrinkles around his face.
There tends to be a certain way he looks at people, in almost a demeaning way, with an amused smirk and raised, bushy eyebrows. This, if nothing else, can cause people to want to punch him in the face. Dexter keeps himself relatively clean, hating the idea of being "smelly" or "gross" as he values a clean body more than anything. However, his hair does not support this as he doesn't care much for how it flows. He's below average height, about 5"8', and he's very thin. He does have muscles, but his bone structure is not very thick leaving him looking relatively frail when he isn't tensing. His legs are also quite long, allowing him to move relatively quickly.
Dexter tends to be an oddly dressed individual, wearing clothes that make him stand out in a crowd - but not because they're brightly colored. He likes to wear extravagant capes that are almost as noticeable as his southern accent, and the occasional beaded shark-tooth necklace. If he's not wearing a cape, though, he'll be wearing suits and ties that make him look more professional then anyone else around him. These also contribute to his desire for intellectual superiority. However, he's not afraid to show off his chest, and tends to wear clothes that show at least a bit of it or are relatively low cut. This is not the same for his pants, though, and he never neglects to wear long pants. It's very uncommon to find him in shorts due to his discomfort with his spindly, long legs. Occasionally he does wear normal clothes though, especially when he feels like just messing with people without them realizing he's there to watch.
Personality
[/div]Positive:
* Quick-thinker- Because of his rapid reflexes, Dexter is also a very quick thinker that reacts to things very quickly, although they tend to be on impulse.
* Fast-moving- Dexter runs fast, reacts fast, and just generally is pretty fast. He tends to move pretty quickly and he's pretty good at it.
* Jokester- Both a good and a bad thing, Dexter finds a huge amount of humour in his own actions and he always tries to put himself above others by irritating them and getting on their nervous. He therefore smiles a lot and jokes around a lot.
* Intelligent- Although he tends to rely on raw instinct in quick situations, Dexter is pretty smart and he could get along well in school - if he cared.
* Calm- Sure, Dexter starts fights all the time. But that doesn't mean he isn't amazingly calm throughout them. He loves to toy with the mind while keeping his own intact - hence why he remains eerily relaxed almost always.
* Respectful- Although this may come off as odd, to people that are like him who love to joke around at the expense of others (or have beaten him by also cheating in some way), Dexter is very, very respectful and he'll dip his head to them when they walk by.
[/ul]Negative:
* Jokester- As mentioned before, Dexter loves making people feel like utter crap. He enjoys laughing at others' expense and this tends to get on others' nerves.
* Instigator- Dexter starts things. A lot of things. He loves conflict and thrives off of it, especially when people get upset at him.
* Cheater- Dexter doesn't understand the idea of fairness. He does things to benefit off of them, and he has no concern for doing things the "right way". He goes the easy way in life, and he doesn't care much for others that are negatively affected.
* Dare-devil- Dexter loves risks - he thrives off of the prospect of danger or doom. This can cause him to do irrational things if he sees them as fun.
* Gambler- Dexter, although it is unlikely due to his powers, is very likely to throw everything away when playing games like poker. He's good at them because of his constant practice, but he risks almost everything when doing it.
* Fragile- Dexter has a very fragile bone structure, and, although he moves fast, his punches don't mean much because of it. If you hit him badly multiple times, he'll be down and out for the count.
* Fickle- Although Dexter is a member of the Battlefront, he is very focused around what benefits him at the time. He will be loyal during setup battles with many people, however when it's more one on one situations he'll pretend to have no association with anyone and will not help out fellow Battlefront members if he sees them fighting, unless he knows they'd have a good chance of winning.
* Selfish- Everything's about him. Dexter loves the spotlight, and he loves himself. He values doing things for himself more than doing them for others, and is willing to make others feel bad if it makes him feel better.

[/ul]Extra:
On being a Battlefront member, Dexter is not an avid participant. He only is a part of it in hopes of escaping the school one day, due to his dislike of authority figures. However, this does not mean he goes out looking for fights and he tends to pretend to be a neutral member around prefects, although he'll try to piss them off as he does with anyone else. He's a useful member when a huge conflict arises, as he is loyal to his side, but otherwise he barely talks to Battlefront members and when he does, he doesn't treat them as any bit more of a family than anyone else. He's also very fickle and doesn't always jump in to help fellow Battlefront members when they're under attack if he feels like he may be personally harmed.
Dexter also has a slight southern accent as he was raised in Texas.
Dexter does have his down days, which are identified by his sudden lack of teasing or annoying people. For a lot of people, these days would be viewed as "Dexter's best", but really, they're when Dexter feels extremely down about his life and past.

History
Family Members/guardians:
Mom - Liza Peacock (this is not known)
Father - Jeremy HammondsHistory:
Dexter was born and raised in Houston, Texas for his whole life, until he was flown to Ashford.
Dexter was always a bit of an odd kid, managing to cause children that annoyed him to get sick or momentarily lose their senses, sometimes on purpose, other times by accident. Therefore, he was often avoided and deemed "the bully". To get the attention he so desperately desired that was not given to him at home, he grew up trying to get kids to pay attention to him by annoying them or irritating them. After a lot of time of doing this, he started to enjoy it and he became agile due to the need for him to dodge punches from bigger kids - and because of his enhanced reflexes. This socially isolated him further, and it was lucky that Dexter "thrived" (as best as anyone could) in this environment as it allowed him to emotionally detach himself from people and practice his abilities on them, making him quite good at it. This, however, was fortunately never brought to the attention of any authority figures until much later when they started to figure it out.
Dexter's parents weren't extremely loving, either, like mentioned earlier. His mom left after he was born, not wanting to deal with him, and his dad was huge on gambling and would take off to the casinos nearly everyday. This is truly what lead Dexter to being who he is today: someone who desires attention, who just wants people to notice him, more than anything in the world. Regardless, Dexter eventually started accompanying his father to casinos, learning how to play games like Poker and Black Jack. His dad only began to like his son when this started happening, as Dexter seemed to have a natural gift of "messing" with the other players, which, little did his father know, was Dexter's powers in effect. This is when Dexter felt the most loved in his life - next to his father when he had a hand of cards and a drink in his hands.
Eventually, Dexter began to go to the casino on his own when his father began to lose it all, and Dexter needed to win some extra cash for the family. Instead of getting a job and going to school, he'd go and play poker, winning almost every game. People began to suspect him and accuse him of counting cards. However, the owner had no way of proving this and Dexter denied that he was counting. They got in an argument, and Dexter used his powers on the man. Some policemen got interested due to the yelling that was going on in the casino, and came in to find a guy puking on the ground, blinded, with Dexter standing above him, kicking him violently. As to be expected, Dexter was briefly put in jail before the Ashford Academy claimed him as one of their own.
