Monsters. Monsters frequented her dreams and gave her reason to wake up early in the morning on this particular day. Monsters were her excuse when she stumbled through the hallways and gave the teachers a dazed, 'even if I wanted to pay attention, I couldn't' expression during her second day of classes at the school. Funnily enough, Lillith Malixi did not believe in monsters when she was awake. Well... At least not when the sun was shining outside. So when classes finished for the day for her, Lilith made up her mind. She was going to find out where the monster sounds she laid awake at night listening to were coming from. But first, the sun had to set.

After dinner had finally finished, Lilith went back to her dorm, pulled on her one piece grey suit, belt, and mask for her poisons- just in case something went astray and she was in a situation where she'd be breathing in the poison, too. The capsule placed in her mask was empty right now, just to seal the mask completely. The ones on her belt were full of poisons- some she didn't even remember creating. Lilith checked herself in the mirror, making sure the outfit looked to be in order. She still put on her uniform jacket and pants over it, just to avoid being in any unnecessary trouble with the prefects. She'd been warned about the prefects by several people, yet it hadn't yet been forty-eight hours since her dad dropped her off outside the school.

Like sneaking out in its own wasn't bad enough, she could add not knowing hardly anyone to why she'd be in trouble for this. But if it was just a student, not a teacher, they couldn't do much... Right? Her thoughts were interrupted when she realized her gray suit was still visible beneath the uniform, not to mention how out of place her mask was. She just hoped they didn't notice her at all tonight.

Lilith Malixi felt she was ready. Without a single word, she slipped through the hallways, then into the basement, a small keychain flashlight clutched in her one hand, held down by her waist. With every step, it trembled with the movement, throwing light in odd places for brief moments before shadows rushed in to fill the space once again. Each step deeper into the basement only made her more fearful, which was apparent if anyone were to see the wide eyed look she sported. She was going to do this anyway.

No one ever mentioned cleaning supplies... monsters, kids who were locked in from detention years prior and never let out, but not mop buckets. Running into one and being sent tumbling to the floor evoked a scream from the fifteen year old. The mask only slightly muffled the high pitched cry. After the sound escaped her lips, she covered her mask quickly with one hand, before tucking the flashlight into a pocket with the other. After hesitating just a moment to make sure she was okay, she righted the empty, dusty bucket and got back to her feet, brushing away the dust from her uniform.

"Not a monster. Someone must have forgot to move that. It's okay.

[/color]" Lilith murmured to herself, inhaling sharply to chase away the thoughts that were now starting to scare her again. The idea of a monster was scarier when you gave the monster a reason to come and find you.[/blockquote][/blockquote][/size]

Seth strolled along the darkened corridors of the dungeon. It was a place where very few people ever bothered to walk along, as most remembered the horrible things that had occurred here one time or another. While an odd statement to make, it was quite true. The prefects as a whole weren't pure, and in the beginning it was nearly impossible to do much more than just put down the first up-risers. These dungeons were used just for that, containing the most violent, and powerful of students at one time of another and attempting to teach discipline.

Why was Seth down here then? Was there some poor soul trapped, and forced to endure whatever tortures Seth could conjure in order to instill some respect towards others? It was doubtful, seeing as how Seth himself was walking down the empty corridors, holding onto his arm and gritting. It was obvious why, painfully obvious why he held onto the limp, as it seemed that from the tip of his fingers a little past his wrist was bright red, and the drops of liquid that followed after it, creating a light patter against the stone floors showed that the wound was bleeding.

Seth was called the mad scientist by some of the rumor mongers, having been believed to conduct experiments on Prefect prisoners, and occasionally, when wounds such as this occurred, they brought more fuel to the fire than anything else. Still, self-transmutation came with a hefty price, but Seth couldn't ignore the possibilities that it would open up if he was capable of even an iota of theories he created.

A small crash and a mild scream quickly drew his attention away from the stinging pain of his hand. Glaring, he made haste towards the location of the sound, and came to find a....person standing before him, dressed in quite the odd apparel. "Who are you?" He staged whispered, unable to muster the energy to yell.

Who was she kidding? No amount of reassuring herself beforehand would have prepared her for Seth's approach. It was simply a miracle that she didn't scream again when she saw him standing there before her. Maybe her mind was playing tricks on her, but it sure seemed like he appeared out of no where.

Lilith took a step backwards once he stopped, proving to herself she still had the power to run if she needed to. Actually, running was sounding like a very good idea, other than the fact that she'd probably get lost. But if she was lost, maybe he'd be, too. She made a mental note to reconsider the possibility of an escape by running if things took a turn for the worse.

If he thought Lilith was oddly dressed, she'd easily be able to point out the fact that he was walking around with blood dripping, which seemed completely out of place. She would have been more surprised by it if concern hadn't won over and etched its way into her expression. First things first, he asked her a question.

"Lilith Mal-

[/color]" Lilith began, her voice obscured by her mask. It was still possible to make out, it just had a hollow sound to it. She paused long enough to slip the mask off, which proved to be a quick and simple process. Holding the mask in one hand as it dangled at her side, she tried again.

"Lilith. What happened to your arm?[/color]" Lilith prompted, not seeming to realize just who she was talking to. Even if she had correctly identified him as a prefect, [which she had yet to do] she wasn't ready to believe they were as unkind as others said they were.[/blockquote][/blockquote][/size]

Seth saw her take a step back, in the narrow corridor they were in, it would mean she had only one way to go for quite awhile. He reacted quickly, slamming his bloodied hand against the wall, but as he took the few seconds to concentrate on what would normally be a simple transmutation, he realized that she didn't run, and let out a sharp hiss as his hand flared with pain. He clenched his teeth and tried to focus past the pain.

Her voice, thankfully, provided a wonderful distraction, due mostly to the distortion that it was under, providing him something else to think about, though it didn't last long as she quickly removed the instrument, and spoke again. Huh, so it's a she. Seth though, having been previously uncertain about the figure's gender in the dark halls.


"Lilith, I hope you realize that you're tresspassing on quite the forbidden area." Seth muttered, as his mangled hand gave a small twitch, fighting the urge to hide the blemished skin in a pocket or behind his back. There was no reason to be selfconscious.

Luckily for the girl, Seth didn't feel up to detaining anyone. His current streak of defeat with situations was effecting his decisions badly, but with his recent doubt in his capabilites, it was easier to just let go of other obligations as well. His perfect demanor was slipping this year, due to situations that most wouldn't be expected to handle. Still for Seth Lorenz Rosa, they should've been simple matters, not the trials they had become.

He let out a small groan, and slumped against the wall. "I messed up, rather badly." He stated. "Why are you down here?"

Lilith jumped when his hand met the wall. She couldn't decide why he'd done it, but she didn't want to find out. She stood as still as she could manage, her eyes slightly wider now. Generally, she was more alert, watching him with more interest and more apprehension than before.

"If I'm going to go to school here, how could I possibly be trespassing?

[/color]" Lilith questioned, her tone innocent rather than accusatory or challenging. "And if so, why are you trespassing too?[/color]" The idea that any area would be blocked off from certain students and not others didn't sit well with Lilith on principle, if he was telling her the truth. Her thoughts shifted when she noticed his apparent pain.

"There were funny noises keeping me up last night, I came to explore.[/color]" Something about his current condition convinced her not to say something foolish, like that she was searching for monsters. She could tell that story to others in hopes of fitting in later. For now, she took a few cautious steps closer, tilting her head as she examined his injury from afar, her mind sifting through any useful poisons she might have. The idea was a bit silly- she wasn't likely to have a healing poison. Perhaps something to numb him, but she wouldn't want to risk it going wrong with something she wasn't certain about.

"Is there anything I can do to help?[/color]" Lilith questioned hopefully. It was hard to see him sitting there in pain while she sat idly by. In fact, Lilith just couldn't do it. She had to help, or at the very least offer. Besides, despite the earlier scare, he seemed pretty harmless to her.[/blockquote][/blockquote][/size]

The small hop back, from the sound of his flesh striking the stone walls was amusing. Enough so that he managed a small smirk at the girl. "Did you ever try to sneak into the Teacher's lounge, or the Boy's locker room with such a flismy excuse. Some areas are just off limits to those not authorized to enter, or given permission."

"This is one of those areas, allowed to be entered only by faculty and Prefects, the later of which have free reign over this area." As he stated this, Seth pulled himself from the wall. The constant slouching, moving, leaning, all of it was done to try and keep his body from focusing on any one thing for too long. The last time he had messed up a transmutation like this, he woke up in the nurses office a week later. Internal chemistry was quite the fickle thing, apparently.

He blinked slightly. "Funny noises?" Seth questioned, uncertain how to take such a statement. He shook his head as he looked down the narrow corridors, then grinned. "Are you talking about those monster rumors?" He said with a small laugh.

"I'm not sure. Right now, I just need the pain to stop." He muttered, looking at his arm. "Everything else is manageable."

"Well, no, I had no interest in going into either area, and that's a little different. At least there's a reason. Why can't I be down here?

[/color]" Lilith's tone shifted slightly. There was the accusatory tone. Now he had her slightly annoyed- only slightly. Being annoyed didn't suit her, and really, it was more annoyance at getting used to a new school than actually being upset with Seth, though she didn't distinguish between the two.

"Surely the prefects aren't more important than the teachers.[/color]" Lilith pointed out. He made it sound like they were, at least when it came to this area of the school. Could it possibly be so? Was there something significant about it that she was missing? She couldn't think of anything it could possibly be.

"Maybe...[/color]" Lilith blushed, assuming he didn't believe in the rumors. Since arriving, it was all she heard about. "I didn't say it had to be monsters, I was just making sure it wasn't monsters, that's all.[/color]" Lilith hoped that might salvage the situation. She held tighter to the mask as her mind wandered to her previous daydreams of finding this said monster and subduing it single handedly.

"I wish I could help... I don't know how to do anything useful like that, I mostly use my power to sedate people. But... maybe I could make sure you get to the nurse's office instead? Something in there will probably help. Or I could try to get a nurse to come down here for you?[/color]" Lilith proposed, her tone soft and slightly guilty, like she'd somehow let the stranger down by not knowing how to use her power to ease his pain. Her mind was, in fact, occupied with plans and promises to learn how to do something kind with the poisons. With the proper research, she was sure she could find something that would do someone good rather than cause them pain or inconvenience them.[/blockquote][/blockquote][/size]

"What's important in this school is maintaining order. The teachers are often incapable of that. How would a normal person stop someone from throwing around fireballs." Seth shook his head. "The Prefects are the ones who take all the risks to keep this school from turning into a warzone every day, and this lovely little place you've found yourself in, is the detention center."

Seth frowned. "While I'm not aware of the disturbance that occured last night. At best, all you'll find down here are haunted memories of past actions. Speaking of which, we should probably leave the area, you wouldn't want to get in trouble."

He started towards Lilith, before pausing, glancing towards her mask, before frowning slightly. "My arm will be fine on it's own, I was smart enough to only destroy the top layer of my skin this time." He made another glance at the mask, this one more obvious than the last and asked a question. "What are your powers anyways?"

"That doesn't make much sense.

[/color]" The fifteen year old's voice came out as more of a huff. Prefects definitely lived up to the warnings she'd received about them. "If it's a detention center, why can't I be down here? I can't really do any harm to it, so why keep people away?[/color]" There was little chance of Seth getting out of this one without a new strategy. Lilith was not impressed by the new status quo that was forming in her mind.

"Oh, right.[/color]" Lilith offered a sheepish smile, raising the mask to give him a better view, "Technopath and poison generation. So... I brought my mask in case I had to use some poisons on the monster.[/color]" With that, it occurred to her that she'd parted with her name and her powers with really no information in return. That definitely wasn't the best approach at conversing with a new person, especially not in a place like this.

"What about you?[/color]" Lilith asked sweetly as if that might convince him to tell her, just in case he didn't want to on his own. "You didn't tell me your name, either. It's only fair.[/color]" Maybe she'd be lucky, or maybe he didn't mind telling her and he'd part with the information. Then it'd just be a matter of her remembering it when she woke up the next morning, which, chances were, she probably wouldn't. Maybe, though. It was better to give it a shot than not to try at all.[/blockquote][/blockquote][/size]

"Just because you can't, doesn't mean others aren't capable. In order to be fair, restriction are placed on all, instead of subjugating a few. We students are already ostracized from the outside world because of our... differences, why continue it here, where we are as close as possible to being similar to one another?" He wanted to lead the girl out of here, but really, why did she have to question things so much. It really made him want to toe the line of morality again, and force her to recognize her superior, to submit and accept the workings of the world.

He let out a small shuddering sigh, remembering the tears that had sprouted in Calista's eyes when he tried to explain that things were impossible to fight. Seth was broken, unable to pick up a cause, because he had been forcibly forged into a follower, but, thanks to Calista, he would never be one to force his opinions on others, not when it wasn't absolutely necessary.

His lips twitched into a soft smile as the girl spoke again. It was hard not to be amused by how helpful this girl was, despite her being annoyed by the inner workings of a school. Still, he was intrigued by her powers, wondering the extent she was capable of, and what her true potential was as well. His mind ran rampant at the possibilities that this girl had laid before him.

Seth's thoughts were jarred again by the girl's voice, but saw a quick solution to one of their problems; avoiding additional prefect attention. "Maybe I'll share with you, if we leave this area?" He offered, taking a few quick steps past the girl, before stopping and looking back to see if she'll follow. "If you really must stay here, at least let me take you to my...study."

Lucky for Seth, that did it. Lilith fell silent for a few moments, considering the implications of what she was proposing, at least the way he was spinning it. She still couldn't imagine why prefects weren't suspected of having dangerous abilities, but maybe if she just thought of them as police, she could tolerate the idea. She was going to try.

"Maybe... I think if we're allowed elsewhere, destruction just as probable, we should be allowed here.

[/color]" Lilith reasoned. At his suggestion that they leave, she found herself pausing with a rare look of forced calmness as she weighed out the factors of the situation. He was injured, so maybe she had an advantage. She could still run, and if they were walking together, maybe she could get away so that she could continue her exploration alone. But if she followed him and ended up alone with him, there was no chance she'd be able to accomplish anything monster related. Lilith finally decided she'd rather go with the boy than run into the monster alone.

"Alright, you win.[/color]" Lilith relented, quickening her pace until she was at his side. "But only if you tell me your name on the way. I'm not walking with a stranger.[/color]" Lilith wasn't certain if she'd really refuse to go if he didn't give his name, but that wasn't the point. Lilith was actually just struggling with how tough he was making her attempt to salvage the situation for herself.

"And, why do you have a study?[/color]" Lilith quizzed. Just as before, she was onto something that just wasn't fair. He had a study as a student? She certainly wasn't offered space beyond her dorm.[/blockquote][/blockquote][/size]

Seth smiled as he walked through the corridors, running his good hand along the walls. "My name is Seth.... Lorenz Rosa" He stated, figuring that giving his entire name would be just as prudent as his first. There were rumors about any long standing prefect member, so if she asked around, he'd be pretty easy to identify. "And We've enacted Prefect patrols to go through the school regularly, in order to maintain peace and civility."

Seth paused at a wall, his fingers running along the cold stone in front of him, before he turned to Lilith and grinned a mischevious one. "As for why I have a study, well" He chuckled, pressing his fingers against the stone, and using his powers to compress the stone, causing it to collaspe in on itself and open up an entrance that contained three granite desks, two cabinets filled with beakers and other scientific equipment, and a pile of books cluttering here and there. "It's not exactly a school approved thing."

Seth laughed as he stepped into the room, and motioned for Lilith to follow him inside. "You should feel honored anyways. Being the first to see my retreat out of anyone, and all."

Just like that, she thought she'd misjudged him. Surely he didn't mean anything by what he'd said previously. He gave her his name, no less his full name, which was more than she'd done. She decided to drop the prefect topic when he said they enacted patrols. This choice was mostly because he didn't seem to have nearly as much concern about the issue as she did.

It seemed a little bit hypocritical of him to mention the other people ruining the school, only to ... well, Lilith wasn't even sure what he'd just done. It seemed like something out of Harry Potter, only, there wasn't a silly spell or an umbrella, just his hand. Her eyes lit up with curiosity again, a smile appearing at her lips. Hypocritical or not, that was awesome.

"That was the coolest thing I've ever seen,

[/color]" Lilith offered, her tone as delighted as she was. Her eyes scanned the room when it was opened, noting the objects inside. She only forced herself to look away from the magical room when Seth was gesturing for her to go in. Into a room that shouldn't exist, with a boy who seemed to be the only one to know where the doorway was, or how to open it? Lilith's eyes did flicker with distrust, but it was only there an instant before she walked into the room behind him.

"The first person...?[/color]" Lilith echoed, her mind following with, 'then, why'd you show me?'. She kept the question to herself, smiling as if she wasn't interested in why. "Then, thank you, Seth. And, uhm, sorry for giving you a hard time with all the questions before.[/color]" Her cheeks actually began to get a little bit of pink to them as she considered how unkind it was for her to waste his time with the arguments she had.[/blockquote][/blockquote][/size]

Seth laughed as he walked further into the room, running his hand into one of the bowls that were sitting on the tables. Having gathered a handful of the powder, he walked over to the three dishes on the table, and sprinked a bit of the powder, producing a blue flames. "Actually, it wasn't anything fancy. Just the break down of bonds within a collapisble material. And this is simply a thermite reaction fueled by dicyanoacetylene, which results in the blue flames."

He smiled at the girl, as the flames finally illuminated the area into something approaching daylight within the dark confines, rather than the shadowy images that they had dealt with before. Seth paused in his rambling as he noticed the rather cute features of the girl. Simmering beauties, he could deal with quite easily, having been desentized to such women thanks to his sister. He let out a soft chuckle and pulled on the coat of his jacket, causing the prefect badge to flash in the bright light.

"And it's no problem. Everyone asks questions." He smiled slightly as he sat down on one of the tables. He motioned towards the other tables and let out a small sigh. "As to why I decided to show you this place, due to your talents, your help would be quite useful. You're able to produce organic materials quite freely with little risk to your health, and I bet you'd be able to bring this lab into the 21st century too." He smiled warmly, hoping that something would come of his offering.

Lilith was by no means scholarly. She preferred the satisfaction of a victory in sports over the accomplishment of an 'A' on an assignment or report card, and in fact, she devoted a disproportionate amount of time to sports, like many of her teammates did. So when Seth created the flames, explainable or not, Lilith was impressed. She was even more impressed when he sort of explained it- she was sure he could have actually gone to the trouble of making it make sense, too, if it wasn't for the fact that she doubted she'd ever need to know that information, and she didn't want to imply she didn't know something he referred to with such ease. There was one question she couldn't resist.

"It's still hot, though, right?

[/color]" By the time Lilith asked, she was standing in front of the table with the bowls, genuinely tempted to reach out and find out. Her hand was resting against the table just a few inches away. No matter what his answer was, she wanted to know first hand. Surely it'd only hurt for an instant if she got too close, and besides, how often would she get the opportunity to see blue flames in person, much less be close enough to touch and feel the heat? The blue that would tint a regular flame meant it was much too hot as far as she was concerned, so as long as this one wasn't burning equally as hot, she saw no harm.

When Seth chuckled, Lilith couldn't resist looking in his direction to see the jacket get removed and set aside. The badge did get her attention. She'd noticed a lot of them, though she didn't put together that it meant he was a prefect. Call her oblivious or just disinterested- she wasn't about to address it then, either. She did give a nod of acknowledgement when he said her questions weren't a problem, taking a seat when he motioned to the tables. Having no real preference and deciding if she was going to be in here with him, she should sit by him, she took a spot across from him.

"You want my help?[/color]" Lilith murmured incredulously. "I don't think I'm that great with poisons... Sorry. But, I guess I could help you with the technology.[/color]" Beyond truly not having experience with her power, in part because her father had no interest in her developing it, she also didn't have names for the things she could create. The idea, for Lilith, that she could create something tangible and seek out information on it on the internet was, well, novel. She wasn't even sure if her poisons were things that occurred naturally in the world. And if she didn't know, she had no idea how he expected her to help with anything.[/blockquote][/blockquote][/size]
