Basics
Name: Alice Brown
Nicknames: Aly, Nightmare (this one was invented by her, and for personal use, to placate her ego)
Age: 16
Birthday: May, 9th
Grade: 9th
Power:
1) Dream Manipulation - Alice is able to enter people's dreams, and modify them to her liking. She does so through telepathic manipulations with the brain, when it is most vulnerable, altering the images perceived. She can draw upon the subconscious of the victim in order to make a dream more pleasant, or exploit its deepest fears to create a terrible nightmare. In order to proceed with this, she has to be within 20 meters of her sleeping target. Her ability to influence a dream grows in potency the closer she is. At point-blank, the victim cannot wake up unless she lets him to, meaning imprisoning one inside their own head. This ability, however, has its limits, and Alice is affected by fatigue. She cannot perform this longer than an hour, at best.
2) Intangibility - Alice is capable of becoming intangible, capable of phasing through objects and letting objects phase through her. She does this on instinct, but the science behind the ability is basically her being able to make molecules of her body move through molecules of the object she's passing through. It is a neat ability to infiltrate a place or escape it, however it also has limits - she can't phase through materials whose atoms are packed too tightly together, like lead and other heavy metals. Her powers are not perfect, however - she can keep herself intangible for as long as 1 minute, before needing to rest her abilities for about an hour. But if she keeps using her powers to a minimum - for a few seconds at a time, the cooldown is lowered significantly, to only a couple of seconds. It must be noted that constant spamming in and out of tangibility also puts a strain on her, meaning that if she spams in and out, she would also get tired.
3) Audio manipulation - results of Aly trying to practice her telepathic abilities on awake targets. Results are, of course, much less impressive than that of her dream manipulation, where she can control everything. This ability allows her to make another person think they heard something - mostly footsteps, or a familiar voice, from afar. She cannot use this in range further than 20 meters.

Appearance: Aly is a relatively tall, slender girl. She's around 6', and weights 123 lbs. Her hair is short, and somewhat messy, irregular, lacking any sort of structure or 'hairdo', showing her lack of care in that. Its color is ash black, and the color of her eyes matches too. The girl's face is of a triangular shape. Glasses are always on her nose, to make up for her lack of long-range vision. The skin is pale, and very susceptible to sunburn, which is why it always glistens, being covered with sunscreen. A thing to be mentioned is that she's missing one of her front teeth - something she's ashamed to show too often, but which is also an excellent whistling tool.
Alice's choice of clothes, when out of her school uniform, is rather simple - she wears a pair of tight black pants, and a jacket of black cloth. Her boots are made in facsimile of combat boots, but at closer look it's obvious that they're more slender, and less rugged and utilitarian, obviously made for a more feminine wearer. Over her neck there's a purple scarf. She also wears gloves of purple color, no matter the weather, and prefers not to take them off.
Personality
Overall Personality: Alice is a quiet and secretive girl. Experience in this world has taught her to not talk much and choose her words very carefully, as well as consider what she says to who. So she does, and always views people she doesn't know or trust with a heavy degree of suspicion, always asking herself what would they want from her.
Surprisingly, it's not too hard to make Alice warm up to you enough to consider you an acquaintance - all one needs is just pop in her sight often enough for her to start considering your level of 'danger' to her person. She would analyze you, and if conclusion is 'harmless', her relation towards you would be warmer.
Once she considers you a friend, the relation changes completely. While on the outside the interaction won't change drastically, on the inside, Alice will consider your feelings a lot, before saying or doing something. She can be clingy about her friends, and feel something akin to jealousy towards your other friends. For her friends and family, the girl is ready to do just about anything.
Alice is afraid of other 'Gifted', especially when she doesn't know what they can do. She enjoyed being 'special' among normal humans, but being surrounded by other beings with 'superpowers', as she calls them, makes her feel vulnerable and wary. She also tries to keep her own abilities a secret, knowing that fear of uncertainty is her best defense, since it might prevent people from trying anything, before they even do.
The girl is not a paragon of social butterfly, and it reflects in the way she dresses up - with almost complete disregard towards how she looks. It is just a facade, however. In truth, any word of disdain or criticism towards her looks would harm deeply, but not be shown - Alice would just bottle it up inside, to release later. And there will be a release alright.
You see, she has a vengeance streak a mile wide. The girl would remember everyone who ever offended her in any way, and would seek retribution, often disproportional, with the use of her powers as main tool of getting that retribution. She would plague them with nightmares when they're asleep, and take sadistic pleasure in seeing them squirm.
The girl is a good study, and has little problems with her lessons. However, she can be impatient when trying to help others, not comprehending how someone else can't understand or do what she could. Her hobbies are painting (at which she performs rather poorly), and whistling through the hole between her teeth. She is actually quite good at that, and can whistle just about any theme or song melodiously, but that talent she keeps mostly to herself.

History:
Alice was born 16 years ago, in a city named Liverpool, UK. Her family was not a rich one, in fact - quite the contrary. Her father was a dock worker, and her mother did not have any permanent workplace, forced to go from one job to another and not sticking anywhere for long, faced with a steady flow of employers that wanted to keep a woman low. The two lived in a room they rented, in an old house somewhere in the lesser quartals of the city.
Never the less, they were doing their best to be good parents to the child. Joan abandoned her attempts at employment to care for Alice, while James worked two shifts to support the family. The little girl was provided with everything one would wish to have a happy childhood, and never ceased to make smiles appear on her parents' tired faces. She went to school, like a normal child, instead of being raised by the streets, like many of her peers.
The girl discovered her powers at age of 9. During a rather boring class, she noticed one of her classmates sleeping at the back of the room. It was an accident, almost intuitive. At a certain point the girl just ... felt like she was seeing what the young boy dreamed of. Alice was surprised at first, seeing the dream, it being surreal and odd. But then she thought about something appearing in a dream, and it did! It was a white bunny. She discovered she could make all sorts of things appear in a dream, and so she experimented. Her experiments ended up with the boy waking up, screaming, and her chuckling. It was fun. When she came home she told parents, but they never believed her, leaving the great news as mere child's imagination. Alice never told anyone else after that, figuring no one would believe her, and used the ability for personal entertainment.
Alice's hardest times were, perhaps, during high school. Her family, at that point, struggled even more - she could see it. Mom was still unable to find a job, and her dad was fired from the docks. They decided to move away from Liverpool, and from everything Alice grew to be familiar with, to love. They moved to Glasgow, where their far relatives lived. The girl had to go to a new school.
Children can be cruel creatures, sometimes. And the class she went to did not accept a newbie from another city too well. She became ostracized, and bullied, which caused the girl to close within herself. During a fight, an overly strong blow knocked out her front tooth. Standing up for herself, alone, against a crowd, had consequences. Desperate, she made friends with a few other 'outcasts', and they made a promise to stick up for each other no matter what. That made living a bit easier, than it was.
She discovered her second power during a time of great need. She managed to piss off some of the bullies, and was on the run from them, down a narrow alleyway that was blocked by a high brick wall. Alice didn't know that, and found herself cornered. She could hear the three running behind her, too. She was about to slam herself hard against the bricks, but instead, just ... suddenly ... passed right through!
It was an incredible achievement, for her. For a few moments, she did not understand how she did it, but it did help her escape. She told none of this incident, and the baffled bullies were the only witnesses, too stupid to figure out what just happened. But not Alice, oh no. When her mind got cleared out, she saw this newfound power as ... opportunity. To be able to pass through walls, like a ghost, made doors where none existed. And the girl quickly found ways to abuse it.
Her first act was sneaking into bedrooms of those bullies, at nights, and plague them with horrifying nightmares for days, torturing them. It ended up with one of them thinking he was going insane, not able to cope with so much without sleep - he was taken into mental institution for treatment. Alice liked it. She liked the power to punish those who offend her. But it wasn't all.
She also wanted to help her family. Using her powers of passing through walls, she committed a series of smalltime robberies, the money stolen going into family budget without parents knowing. The girl was just enjoying the taste of power. And in doing so, became careless. She had no problems, while her abilities remained unknown. But one day, during a theft from an electronics store, a security camera caught a glimpse of her passing through a wall.
That's when problems started. And men in black suits appeared in her doorway. There was nobody home at that moment. Frightened, the girl wanted to run from the agents. And she would've done it too - with her powers, she was impossible to detain. Instead, one of the agents trapped her ... with a single line. He offered her to either come with them, or have her family suffer for it. Alice loved her family - they were good parents, and kind, gentle people. She didn't want to jeopardize them. So she agreed to go with the agents.
Arrangements were made within a month - to her family, she was going to a prestigious boarding school on government support. In reality, she was going to something akin of a prison. Alice agreed. It had to be done. And family would never need to know...

Alice was packing her things. Her small room, which she was granted in her relatives' place, was becoming empty, devoid of its owner's presence. Her posters, pictures, books on the bookshelf, her clothes, all were packed, within the large roadbags in the corner of the room. Everything that made the room comfortable and familiar for the girl to see was gone. And tomorrow, she would kiss goodbye to everything she used to know and love.
She sat on her bed, looking down at the floor. She had been like this for a few hours now. Most things were packed anyway. Right now, she was just ... confused, startled, and depressed. Unable to wrap her mind around the fact she had to leave all of this behind. To entrust her life to some sleazy government officials who obviously didn't have her best interests in mind. In her hands she held her father's watch, and watched it go. Tick-tock, tick-tock. Counting time until her departure. And with every passing moment, felt the chill down her spine.
Will I ever see them again?
Sounds from downstairs managed to tear her out of her thoughts, returning the girl to reality. Alice could guess by the sound of steps that it was her mom. Time to put the charade again... - she thought, attempting to pull a smile on her face, and failing miserably. The weight that hung on the girl's shoulders, was too big to hide behind such a petty facade.
- Sweetie?
Alice looked at the doorway. Her mother was in her forties already - a sweet, kind woman. She looked older than she was, a few untimely wrinkles crossing her thin face, caused by worry and hardship rather than age. She was worried now as well - the transfer was so ... unexpected, to all of them.
- Hey mom... Something up?
- Nothing dear. It's just... you haven't been yourself lately. Is something wrong?
The woman would sit on the bed next to her daughter. Alice looked away, for a few seconds. She had to lie to them. She did the whole month. Pretending that this change was for good. But with each passing day it was harder and harder to do. Swallowing, and mustering all the acting she could, the girl attempted to sound cheerful:
- It's just... this is going to be a big change in my life... I don't know if I'm ready for it...
Alice would feel her mom's warm hand resting on her shoulder. She looked back, only to see the woman's kind, warm smile on her face, and a bit of sadness in her eyes. That look alone wanted to make the girl cringe from the thought that she was deceiving them, the people she cared the most about. And that was all her fault.
- I just want to let you know honey, that we're very proud of you. This prestigious school will open doors in front of you, doors that were closed in front of me and your father. You deserve a better future than this. But... we will miss you.
She couldn't hold back any longer. Wrapping her arms around her mom's neck, she hugged her tightly. Two beads appeared at the corners of her eyes, running down her cheeks, which she quickly brushed away against the woman's shoulder.
- I know, Mom. I'll miss you too...
