1. Telepathy:
Gawain has the power of telepathy. Although he can read thoughts, he can only read the thoughts that involve him. If someone has a thought about how Gawain acts or looks, he can hear them. If they think about what he might do or what they will do to him, Gawain can hear them. As long as the thought involves him in any way, he can hear them. If the thoughts do not involve him or the person is too far away, Gawain cannot hear their thoughts. The farthest distance he can hear them from is 100 yards, or a football field. One inch farther and he is unable to hear anything.
2. Lie detector:
Gawain's power of lie detector is very touchy. He can see black devil horns on people when they lie. The person must be in the process of lying for Gawain to see the horns. If the person is wearing a hat, or it is dark, he can't see them. If a person know of the power, they can easily use Gawain's weaknesses to prevent him from seeing the horns.
3. Zoopathy:
Gawain can only communicate with one animal; his Hamster, Ewok. To talk to Ewok, he used to talk out loud, but they have grown such a strong connection that he can now talk with him telepathically. The hamster responds telepathically too. They can hear each other from a mile away due to their strong relationship.

Appearance:
Gawain is an American boy with dark brown hair that is often mistaken as black. His hair hangs in an effortless heap to the top of his eyes and bottom of his chin. He has crystal blue eyes that contrast with his dark hair and tan skin. Gawain stands at a whopping six feet. He has subtle muscles that bulge slightly, but don't overwhelm his kind features. A big smile often adorns his circular face and dazzles the people he meets. He is seen as very handsome.
The uniform he wears is the required outfit for the prefects, but he adds his own flare. Gawain wears his uniform in the normal way; buttons all the way up, tie tight, and pants pulled up. The small addition that Gawain adds is a brown and white hamster. This hamster, Ewok, escapes the naked eye. Gawain makes sure to keep him hidden in his pockets or up his sleeve. Being able to communicate with the animal helps to keep him out of sight and well fed. On casual days, Gawain wears t-shirts and jeans. He will dress up, but prefers not to.
Personality
Overall Personality:
Gawain is an athletic person who values brains over brawn. Seeing how others are hurt by violence, he avoids fights as much as possible. He is more endurance than he is speed. Running every day helps to keep him in shape. His favorite sport is baseball. Although many people recognize him for his amazing athleticism, Gawain is very smart. Reading is one of his favorite hobbies. He hates to admit that he is smarter than most people, but will accept praise when it is given. Gawain can study for five minutes before a test and make an easy A. People admire him for his talent, but some people hate him for it. His intelligence is below the surface and rarely seen. He knows more than he lets on.
Gawain is a gentleman that is polite to everyone, but prefers to be in solitude. He doesn't like getting close to people or relying on others. Working in groups is hard for Gawain. He includes everyone and takes consideration of others, but wants to be in charge. When he is not in charge, he feels overwhelmed and forgotten so he gets quiet and slinks to the background. Gawain sticks to his beliefs and voices his objections, but respects other's opinions.
He is a very kind person who always respects others. Sometimes he can be selfish, but he usually keeps the needs of others before himself. Even though Gawain is nice, he can be angered easily. When first angered, he will stay quiet and pretend it didn't happen. At the second level he will make comments or hints in a soft tone. On a third level, he will crack and yell for a few seconds. Fourth level anger results in sulking, ignoring, and short bursts of anger. The final level should never come, but will cause Gawain to lose it and start a fight. Gawain is not one to start fights, so the last level is very rare.
Concerning his powers, he prefers to keep them secret. Gawain uses the information he gathers from people's thoughts to determine the person's intentions. He does not like others to feel uncomfortable around him, so he doesn't let them know that he can hear their thoughts. Being a lie detector, he doesn't tell the people, but rather, uses the knowledge to bring out the truth. He asks intelligent questions to get the other person to tell Gawain everything. Letting people know that he can talk to Ewok would arouse a lot of questions, so he lets that stay unknown.

Gawain grew up in a military family in America. He was born in Virginia, and his father left on deployment shortly after. After he returned from deployment, they stayed in Virginia for a two more years before they moved to Florida. His sister was born in Florida when he was four years old. They moved to Texas, then Florida again, Washington state, California, two more places along the California coast, Washington state again, and finally Colorado. Everywhere they moved, the family supported each other and tried to get as comfortable as possible. The family of four was close and did a lot together, but they didn't know about Gawain's powers. He kept them a secret because he didn't want to drive them apart.
As the years went on and they moved to Colorado, Gawain's powers grew. It was harder for him to keep them a secret. On his sixteenth birthday, he got a pet. A hamster he named Ewok. The family was having fun at the party when they noticed Gawain talking to the hamster. As he spoke, they thought nothing of it. Lots of people talked to their pets. But then, they noticed that the weasel was responding. They were having a conversation. Gawain did not know that the others could not understand the weasel, it was new to him too. Once Gawain's parents figured out that he had powers, they avoided him. They knew that he could hear some of their thoughts so they learned to leave their mind blank around him. Now knowing that he could tell when they were lying, they barely spoke to him. Even though they had not kicked him out, it felt like he was alone. Gawain began spending more time outside of home. He would wander streets and parks to waste time, then go home late. This provided relief from awkward situations. The family gradually drifted apart.
One night, Gawain was walking down a street near his school. He had decided to take the longest way home, exiting his school in the opposite direction of his house. As he walked down the street, a shadow followed him. No one saw him arrive home. When he woke the next morning, he was at Ashford academy. He believes his family is relieved that he is gone. Knowing that he has no where else to go, Gawain became a prefect. He had been offered a comfortable place and a good position amongst the students. Gawain would help Ashford so that he wouldn't have to go back to living his bleak family life.
