Appearance: Everett Emery's hair was a topic of conversation beginning the day he was born. The mop of black hair astounded his relatives gathered in the hospital room (then again, so did the fact that he had all ten toes) and was the recipient of a fair bit of petting. In fact, it was so interesting to them that they pulled off the knit cap the nurses put on him to show off the dark strands against his tinted pink complexion.
But it wasn't the naturally curly locks that Everett liked about his own appearance. He'll tell you his hair is just a tangled mess- and it's just that, when it dries and when he wakes up after sleeping. No, Everett doesn't approve of that. Instead he's always thought it was his bright blue eyes that set him apart. And what attention he doesn't earn from his eyes, he attempts to gain through the outfits he wears, from his "bunny" hoodie with the long strips of fabric hanging from the top of the hood, to the colorfully patterned t-shirts and paint-splattered design hoodie. When it all boils down, this teenager feels most comfortable with a hoodie on.

History
Family Members/guardians: Ethan Benjamin Emery and Kaylee Gene Owens Emery
History: Everett Emery was thirteen years, one month, and five days old when his teddy bear marched up, onto his chest and stared at him expectantly. Now, Everett had been pretty sure that he couldn't sleep prior to seeing the bear, but in seeing it, he was convinced this was a nightmare in which the seemingly harmless plush was capable of wielding a weapon. He tried to reason with the plush creature, but the grey tatty teddy was silent. When words seemed useless, Everett summed up his courage and picked the bear up, setting him on the highest shelf of his closet that he could reach. After he went back to his bed and, finally, fell to sleep.
The very next night his tatty teddy was back, but he wasn't alone. Laying beside the grey bear was his brother's worn beagle stuffed puppy, Indigo. At first Everett was at a loss. Screaming would wake his little brother, which would be embarrassing if it turned out he was asleep himself. So he did the next best thing: he imagined the two stuffed creatures walking away, toward the closet. He closed his eyes tightly and imagined, pretending that he wasn't scared of the possibility of an attack from the plush companions. When he dared to open his eyes again the stuffed animals had disappeared. Rather than tempt fate, Everett pulled the blanket over his head and tried to go back to sleep.
Soon enough, Everett referred to the stolen moments with his teddy bear as his most frequent "dream". Every night that sleep eluded him he'd imagine his bear climbing up onto his bed. That wasn't to say he found it difficult to sleep every night, but it got more frequent as time went by. Within a month, he could definitively say he had more nights where he did interact with the bear than nights where he didn't. And as each encounter played out he found himself more and more aware of each deliberate action the bear took. No longer did it just "appear" the way he remembered it the first time. Instead, it moved at a predictable pace. In an unexpected way it stopped seeming scary, though Everett still put his bear on the shelf in the closet before he went to sleep each night.
The idea that it was nothing more than a dream was shattered when Elias, his younger brother, woke up from a nightmare of his own. Instead of seeing his brother's slumbering form, he saw his brother sitting up in bed, illuminated by the bedside lamp they shared, playing a game of mime with his teddy bear. Only instead of moving the bear's limbs himself, he just lifted his hand and let the plush mirror his actions. Without hesitation Elias yelled for their father.
Everett grew more cautious with his ability after that, but it was too late. He was sent to Ashford all the same.

RP Sample: Riley Douglas had once heard that by the time you were thirsty, you were already in the beginning stages of dehydration. Honestly, the teenager wasn't sure how accurate it was but it did cross her mind when she considered that she'd been ignoring her thirst for the past ten minutes as the monorail sailed onward.
Absently, the teen turned her gaze from the window she was sitting against so that she could watch people bustle by. Though the monorail was in motion there were still a few people who hadn't yet taken their seat.
"Uhm, excuse me," Riley murmured, drawing her hand up to graze the sleeve of a nicely dressed passerby. "Is there bottled water on this monorail?" This particular passerby was without the telltale sign of luggage, which translated to monorail staff in her mind. Unfortunately, Riley was mistaken. The person she was addressing was a passenger just like her.
