Basics
Name: Tessa Arthur
Nicknames:
Age: 16
Birthday: September 13th 1998
Grade: 10th
Power:
Tessa has the ability to designate objects and persons at a range of 0-200 meters.
A designated inanimate object can, at her discretion be activated, causing the object to seek instances of her 'targets', taking the objects with them. The speed at which the object travels depends on the amount of a limited resource she invests into the object, the amount invested into the target, and the size of the object being used as a projectile, although this can range from a pebble to a truck.
Each point on the surface of a projectile seeks a target at the same time and strength, so rotation can be created at the designation of the projectile. Being designated as a projectile has an side effect on objects, rendering them brittle and easily shattered, which ends the effect.
If the object misses it's target, it will continue to seek it's target, however, the projectile will act according to it's current momentum, slowing to a stop some distance away, then accelerating towards the target again. If it encounters another object en-route, it is likely to be shattered.
She can designate any number of targets, however, objects are attracted to each of those objects, forces acting in many directions at once, which leads to objects getting 'stuck' in midair. The precision of the targeted area is about the size of a standard playing card, moving closer than that improves the accuracy, to a finger's area at touch range.
Mechanically, the attraction between her targets and projectiles resembles, but is entirely distinct from and does not interact with the electromagnetic force. This effect is not weakened by distance between the objects. This force then acts on the object, creating acceleration in the classical way. When contact between an active projectile and a passive target, whether or not it is on another object or person, the ability ends. The ability is otherwise long lasting; up to 24 hours.

Appearance:
Tessa is a white, Caucasian girl with brown, straight-wavy hair, and blue eyes. She often ties it into a bun for combat reasons, letting it down only in a secure environment. She stands 5' 3", with the very beginnings of muscle tone, but with an equal amount of flab. Her normal attire is casual, aiming to downplay her presence, both in and out of combat situations, normally adding some minor jewelry to her ensemble.
She has no major scarring or tattoos, and an excellent complexion, one of the things she takes pride in, considering it her best feature. Her proportions are average, and a secret.

Personality
Overall Personality:
(previously)
Tessa is a quiet and mildly introverted girl, unlikely to try to make change or challenge someone in perceived authority. She has slightly above average intelligence, although rarely displays it due to her shyness. In spite of her social reticence, she has strong draws towards communities, leaving her in the awkward position of skirting around groups, watching and hoping to be welcomed in, but unable to muster up the courage to walk up. She has little confidence in her ability to attempt new things, although she has pride in the few skills she has gained in her life, mostly domestic type cooking, sewing, and clarinet. She makes for a poor solo performer due to stage fright, but as a part of a larger ensemble she can perform adequately. As a result of her being unable to make new friends easily, essentially requiring chance or the bold kindness of a stranger, she goes to any length to maintain a bond with a community or person, in spite of the other party's occasional non-interest. Privately, she is nosy and curious, about the lives of others, although often lacks the courage to go through with those feelings.
Her greatest fear is that she is a burden on those around her, barely tolerated, and secretly mocked and despised. Her general demeanor is with eyes towards the floor, although she smiles, a habit cultivated to prevent people from asking her what's wrong. Her decisions are largely based on peer pressure, in a vacuum, her decisions reflect a mixture of selfishness and kindness, depending on the circumstances. She thinks consistently about how her actions will be perceived by others. She dresses to blend into a crowd, although relishes the opportunity to dress up.
(present)
However, in the wake of the adversarial relationship between Gifted and mundane humans, Tessa has toughened up significantly, and while she still retains her quiet demeanor, two years of suppressing emotion and doing what is needed to survive have hardened her personality, so that she can fight effectively, although she still balks at outright killing. If she gets the chance to be away from a high-stress environment for a significant period of time, her previous, more submissive qualities may again emerge. As another note, she rarely questions orders from those in authority from her perspective.

History
Family Members/guardians: Dead and dead, due to Gifted/Mundane conflict
History:Tessa was born to a middle class family with only slight Gifted connections. Her elder sister has no Gift, nor did her parents, but there were Gifted among her cousins, leaving her in the strange position of being somewhat of an outcast in her own family, although in reality her parents and sister acted with love throughout her life. Through school, she was always on the fringes of the social crowd, and was rejected a few times from groups being deemed 'creepy', likewise, in middle school, she was asked out a few times, but only a few weeks afterwards, the boys cut ties with her, calling her clingy. After a few more weeks trying to deny the reality of the situation, she fell into a depression, only emerging from it after months of misery, although she maintains some hopes of those rekindling secretly.
Her group expanded slightly in 8th grade, forming a few deep friendships. However, upon the Gifted part of her family's insistence she be sent to a boarding school several states away (which she fought against), she was forced to say goodbye to them, with an adverse effect on her psyche as well. She accepted the fact over the summer, and promised to keep in touch, but realizes that they will probably grow apart.
Academically, she is a B student with a few Cs and As mixed in, depending on the level of participation demanded by the teacher. She has no criminal record or reputation as a troublemaker, although she has broken the law on a few occaisions, each time with her circle of friends, shoplifting a few times, smoking and drinking once or twice, and trespassing once.

RP Sample: Tessa looked over the sea of faces, heart pounding. Each and every curious pair of eyes drilled holes into her. What if she messed this up. Would they kick her out, send her away? What would she do then? She couldn't possibly face her friends; her old friends after disappearing for the summer, it'd be so embarassing. Not to mention the laughter of all those kids, all more experienced with their powers. Their Gifts, like her cousins, who spent one week showing her tricks in the woods by the lake house. Worst of all, they were lined up alphabetically by last name. She hated that system, because it meant she had to go first. All the time. What was she even supposed to do? The teacher had told them to just do what they could with their special abilities, but what did that mean? Was it like...a big deal? She wanted to turn away, walk off the stage, in the middle of the dark skinned lady, the Dean's speech about them, the new students. The fresh meat. Urgh. But she couldn't, because that would be worse. That would make her the girl who couldn't even try. She'd do it, if she could sneak away unnoticed, but now, she was stuck, and the only thing she could do is dread the moment the teacher finished.
That moment came way too soon. She nearly stumbled over her own feet as her name was called in a seemingly kind 'Arthur, Tessa'. What was she going to do? Her one cousin said he had made a dragon out of fire and had it fly around, and what could she do. Nothing. She hadn't even practiced that much, just mostly using her ability to play around, and once to pass a note, but someone had almost noticed that, and she never did it again. That was a big no-no, apparently.
She was center stage now, her body and mind disconnected from one another, and the eyes of the entire auditorium were on her. A moment of silence descended before she was even aware she should be saying something. She opened her mouth as the Dead spoke 'Go on, introduce yourself', and shut hers, as not to interrupt her. Another moment of silence. 'I'm Tessa uh...Arthur', she stammered out. 'Uh...I don't know what to call my uh...Gift.' She fumbled in her pockets for something, anything. Two coins. They would have to work. Looking down, she touched her pointer finger to one side of the penny.
'Uh...um...' She tossed it into the crowd, hoping someone would catch it and that she wouldn't look like a total idiot. 'Um...and so um. That's the target I guess.' She touched her finger to the quarter. And here's uh...the other thing. She held it in her hand, between three fingers, not letting it go as she concentrated momentarily on it and then, it started to pull at her grip, trying to escape. She let go, and it flew lazily into the air, in the direction of the other coin.
'Um...' She wanted to be done now. She looked at the teacher for approval, hoping that she could take her seat again, and maybe disappear forever. The 26 cents would be a cheap price for that.
