Basics
Name: Lyle Palmer
Nicknames: Belyle, Monster, Alien
Age: 17
Birthday: 24th November
Grade: 11th
Power:
Major, Alter Physical Structure; Nightmare Embodiment / Form;
Lyle has forever been changed by what his body has gone through, allowing him to embody his own Nightmare and Fears, by doing so he transforms into a devilish creature that stands a height of 7'2". The process of the change is quick, though it is painful, usually with Lyle screaming while his bones break audibly and flesh tears, though strangely this does not activate his caustic blood, which can eat through glass and still hurts Lyle in both forms. A sleek black figure of blackened skeletal proportions, with slick oil gleaming off his armored carapace and flesh. His hands turn to razor sharp and slender claws that span a foot in length, his spine bleeds downward to create a tapered tail of jagged spikes with a harpoon-like tip at the end. His feet mimic his hands in form, though his legs are reverse jointed things to allow him to jump great distances. Most his body is covered in armored carapace plates, his lips disappear and what is left his a sleek emotionless black face of an Monstrous creature. With teeth that could shear through metal bars. His body's joints are not normal either, like a doll, allow him to turn every limb and appendage around as if he were facing the other direction this also gives his body a doll like consistency when moving at times, meaning his body can veer unexpectedly in various directions.
Benefits while in Nightmare form;Benefits while in Human form;
- Enhanced Speed, Endurance and Strength
- Enhanced Jumping capabilities
- Extra Appendages; Tail, Secondary and Tertiary Mouths
- Extremely Caustic Blood that can also eat through glass, though is slow to do so
- Ability to climb most surfaces, including horizontal surfaces like ceilings
- Razor sharp claws and feet
- Able to reverse all limbs and appendages, including his head to face the other way without any ill effects
- Armored Carapace
- Accelerated Metabolism and Healing, can only regenerate fingers with time, as well as tail tip and carapace plates
- Enhanced Speed, Endurance and Strength
- Extra Appendages; Secondary and Tertiary Mouths
- Extremely Caustic Blood that can also eat through glass, though is slow to do so
- Accelerated Metabolism and Healing, can only regenerate fingers with time, as well as tail tip and carapace plates
- Unpredictable Limb rotation and movements brought on by nightmarish, doll like actions
Drawbacks;
Caustic blood is always active and effects Lyle, leaving him with scar tissue all over his body from wounds and burns, though his body does neutralize it to scab with time. His spine is riveted with black carapace spikes that extend from his neck down to his tail bone in regular intervals, which mark him as Gifted. His secondary and tertiary mouths are visible at the back of his throat and are still active while he is in his human form, another mark against him as Gifted. Though fairly athletic, his body requires three times his weight in food a day to sustain itself. To transform into Active mode, it takes at least eight seconds of excruciating pain as his body reforms and folds into itself before stretching, this includes sounds of breaking bone and tearing flesh. After long whiles in this form, Lyle begins to lose his sanity slowly, as he realizes that he has become what he never wants, a real monster.
Major, Partial Spectrum Concealment;
Except for the normal visual spectrum, Lyle does not register in any other sight based scan. This includes the visual tells that one gets from watching air flow, motion detection, infrared and thermal, as well as all supernatural sight based powers of detection. All these and their derivatives, count Lyle as a motionless and inanimate object with no warmth or visual life signs. However normal cameras will be able to spot him, as will the naked eye.
Drawbacks;
Lyle is often mistaken as a Corpse by both doctors and supernatural mediums, as he emanates no life force or any other visual queues. This also makes it difficult for him, as all sensors, including automated doors fail to recognize him as being there. This ability also does not hide his scent, a heavy smell of anti-bacterial and chemical agents. Nor does it hide his heavy footsteps, given that he weighs between four hundred and six hundred pounds. The added weakness is that his likeness can be faked on film and there is no way of telling if it is him or not, as well as if he is ever captured, there is no way of actually finding Lyle except via the naked eye, scent or by sound. This ability also sometimes causes Lyle to hallucinate when looking at recordings of himself, or into mirrors while alone.
Minor, Toxic Bacterial Symbiotes;
This bacteria is held in the secondary and tertiary mouth cavities that Lyle has for breaking down food, it is also the biological contagion that was introduced to him before his Gift appeared. Though it has mutated and lives in symbiosis with Lyle, through testing, the bacteria has been found to be able to go through latex and most plastic materials. Currently known symptoms of infection, as a viscous clear ooze, are extreme nausea and the complete loss of balance through unnatural affliction of vertigo.

Appearance:
Lyle was a handsome young man once, though that was a while ago now. Throughout his Gifted life so far, he has been ridiculed and attacked because of how he looked, suffering from countless scars and wounds that would have killed lesser men. He stands a height of 6'1" with a medium frame, though he is muscled and has a well maintained body, he weighs over six hundred pounds due the density of his muscles and bones. Lyle has light skin tones, clear grey eyes and messy black hair that passes just past his shoulder. He has soft hands and long arms, his teeth are slick obsidian black and fairly sharp looking. His spine is spiked, from short almost half foot spikes near his neck, then elongating before shortening again at his lower back, forming a ridge of blackened slick spears of carapace and blackened bone. At the back of his throat even in Human form, Lyle has a set of extra mouths, a cylindrical ridged body with fanged obsidian black teeth that span a foot in length, within the first mouth spans a second with the same reach. Dripping with toxic bacterial agents with the ability to chew through most metals, they are frightening things.
Scarring however pockmarks his entire body, bullet wounds, blades, burns from both fire and chemicals. His body looks like a canvas for pain, starting at his face. The left side of his face is missing, as if the muscles were torn away, going from the cheek bone with melted flesh down around the jaw and touching the chin, revealing his blackened teeth, cleaning this side of his face with disinfectant often so it smells sterile. All the flesh under his wounds also looks as if a chemical burned its way down from them. One quarter of his lips are missing over at the left side, the right seems relatively unharmed, though he is missing a bit of his right ear, signs of shrapnel damage though minute. Across his neck, from ear to ear there is a scar that mimics having himself almost decapitated, more chemical burns and melted flesh showing from the wound and moving to his collar bone as if dribbled on him. His hands look as if he had been crucified at one point, circular wounds in both palms, more splatters of chemical burn marks surrounding the scars themselves.
Lyle's active form, his Nightmare Transformation looks hideous and has gotten him persecuted as a Monster on multiple occasions. After his change, he stands a height of 7'2" and as his flesh folds inwards, his bones separate to fill the gap in size, his skin turns to a blackened carapace, almost like armor in a skeletal guise. His fingers elongate and become razor sharp claws that span twelve inches. His legs become reverse jointed things and his feet mimic his claws. His body becomes a gleaming thing that looks slick with oil, emotionless and almost featureless face, his lips and ears vanishing to reveal mandibles and teeth. His spikes grow in size, his tail bone stretches outward to form a deadly appendage that is tapered into a harpoon at the end and the look he gives off is something from a horror movie.
Overall while in Human form, he wears his Uniform, that had to be tailored to fit the spines upon his back. Except that he wears bandages across his nose down, to cover the missing part of his face so that he doesn't scare anyone, though he does have a collection of gasmasks that work just as well. Otherwise he wears tattered clothing, t-shirts, jeans and items that can be easily thrown away or used quickly as a source of bandages. Sneakers and his black and white hoodies are the only items he truly cares about.
Personality
Overall Personality:
Lyle is mostly a good person, with wholesome family values, though that has only changed a little with time as his experiences mold his body and most importantly his mind. Loyal to a fault to those he considers his friends, given that they have probably seen past his monstrous appearance, though he will still never do something suicidal to aid them. Good humored and often found taking abuse from ridicule and insults, though will give as good as he takes, given that he just doesn't want physical altercations to occur. Not that he is against physical fighting, he would just try to leave it as a last resort if possible.
Honest to a point, he will only lie if it is necessary for his survival or others. His mindset is ephemeral at times, given that he drifts deeply in thought. He is known to reward people who don't recoil from what he looks like beneath his bandages or gas masks with jests and camaraderie. It isn't that he is fearful of how he looks to others that he covers his face, it is more that it is a method to avoid confrontation or medical emergencies like panic attacks from strangers. Though trained in medical knowledge, he is not a doctor and has not sword the Hippocratic oath, and is very willing to let someone die if they deserved such.
Perhaps slightly psychopathic, as he has a personal internal trigger, if jokes go too far and people classify him as a Monster, he will most definitely lose his temper. Internally he tells himself that people aren't food, even if his symbiotes tell him otherwise. Trying to stay human is what he strives to do with the help of those around him, one day at a time, he just tries to be friendly and helpful. Enjoying life as life and trying not to think about how people could abuse him and his abilities. The type to be neutral and yet outgoing, he loves to jump and climb still, as well as being fairly athletic. Lyle also has a thing about his weight, embarrassed by such a thing, yet not about the scars on his body or anything. Being self conscious isn't one of the traits he kept while being basically a medical patient all his life.

History:
Lyle's Family were well off, Father is a Scientific Microbiologist and Geneticist for the CDC and his Mother, though a trained surgeon and holding a medical doctorate specialized as a Neurotoxicologist. A match made in heaven, as they found each other after quite a nasty outbreak in America, which was quelled through another scientific breakthrough or another. Living life normally, his Parents were well known for being leads in their respective fields, owning a moderate plot of land outside of the city of Los Angeles, where they conduct research together within their free time away from work.
There was born Lyle, surrounded by sterile rooms and often regularly vaccinated by his Parents to keep him safe from the things the create, which are sealed and shipped off to the Government as test samples. Lyle on the other hand lived life in both a forested area and a wide open plains, he loved climbing and just enjoyed his childhood until something odd occurred. Unknown to his Parents, he was kidnapped and a ransom notice was sent to them, it nearly bankrupt them, but they paid the ransom and the police went on their trail. Though Lyle was indeed let go, however by some cruel twist of fate, they injected him with a mutated version of flesh eating bacteria and it began to destroy parts of his body.
Taken into their own lab, they said they could save him, faster and better than anyone else as they kept track of his blood work and body. It was their own child and they had painstakingly made sure that most things would never effect him. They slowed the process immediately, producing chemicals to stave off the bacteria as they tried to figure out how to remove it. Instead, his Father suggested something else and within one of his locked vaults, he produced a vial of unknown substance, a genetic compound that was supposed to wipe away all foreign bodies from an individual. Perhaps it was madness through love, his Parents agreed to give it to him unbeknownst to the world.
Lyle died that day, his heart stopped, his body went cold and his eyes glazed over, his Parents cried and covered his body, yet that was just the beginning. They heard an odd noise in the middle of the night, the roof of their clean room was sheared away and the body of their boy had disappeared. One excited, the other freaking out as they followed the trail off into the distance. The police that had been watching the place in case the Kidnappers returned were strewn across the ground in pieces. This was when they saw Lyle in his Nightmare form, blackened creature of death and razor sharp limbs. His Father copped on immediately and called him by his name, scarred with bullets and the acrid smell of caustic material dripping from him, Lyle roared, confused as he jumped away.
Lyle vanished for a long time, though the Parents kept telling the government that they shouldn't harm Lyle, that he isn't in his own mindset, the first reaction that most people have when facing a Monster, was to harm it. It was the way of humanity, months later, a dirty, hurt and heavily scarred child made it's way back home. Teeth blackened, eyes filled with shock and with a frail body. His Parents embraced him, any news of him was covered up and they knew the government would come for him. So they didn't report his appearance, instead they continued to teach him and showed him all the skills necessary to survive the world. It was a different kind of parenting now, gone were the days of play and gentle laughter.
Perhaps the world wasn't ready for a Gifted to take on his form, his Parents didn't care, as long as he was still human at heart, though they tested and recorded everything about him before he was sent off with close friends to get military training so that he could defend himself from assailants whom wouldn't listen to words. When he returned home, he was a very different person, more scars and wounds covering his body from the world that still called him a monster and yet Lyle smiled, welcoming the sight of Home, before he was taken away not long after. The world wasn't a good place, nor perfect in any sense, but it was the only place where one could lived their lives, for better or for worse. Moved to an Island with others like him, he wondered what kind of life he could lead now.
