Basics
Name: Michelle Baker
Nicknames: Shelly, Shelia
Age: 15
Birthday: January 2, 2000
Grade: 10th
Power:
Earth Manipulation
Michelle has the ability to levitate and move rocks of any size as well as well as sand. She can form these materials into a shield that covers herself and two other people. She can only make one shield at a time, though. She can also make rocks into an armor that covers her arms, legs and torso. It leaves her hands and feet open so that she can move more materials with them, though she does not use her feet as often as her hands. She can also manipulate the natural minerals in rock to transform it into another type of rock, like turning coal into diamonds, for example. She can also form and shape small rocks the way she wants them to look. With time and training, she has the potential cause earthquakes that can cause the area she is in to shake violently, though she cannot destroy the island with them.
There are some limits on Michelle's control over earth, though. She cannot bend metal, glass or any artificial derivatives of natural earthen minerals. She has to look at the rock or rocks that she wants to control if she wants to use them. She can only use rocks that are present and cannot create any out of nothing. While she can levitate boulders, she cannot keep boulders heavier than herself in the air for too long. It is hard for her to place boulders where she wants to and she will often just drop them abruptly. If she tries to lift too many heavy boulders in one day, she will have arm cramps.
Pleasure Empowerment
Michelle can gain power from people’s happiness and pleasure, whether it is mental, social, physical, etc. The pleasant “air” that someone “gives off” can be absorbed into her body (typically through inhalation), which gives her a boost when it comes to physical fighting. It enhances her speed and strength to give her a better chance of having the upper hand in a fight. Of course, this is not guaranteed because pleasure, like most emotions, comes in degrees. The more pleasure someone is feeling, the more power Michelle will gain from absorbing it. There is a limit on energy she can absorb; she can only keep as much energy as her body will allow her to. It should also be noted that, if she is in a combat-heavy situation, that the energy drains fast.
Michelle cannot necessarily induce pleasure in others without knowing anything. In order to induce pleasure in others, she must touch the person for at least thirty seconds and try to catch a glimpse of things they find pleasing. If she can catch one thing, she will remind the person of said thing and draw the power from the positive mental stimulation from the person, place, thing, etc. The amount of power she gains from the inducement depends on how pleasing the person finds the person, place, thing, etc. that they enjoy. For example, if someone only “likes” ice cream and enjoys it sparingly, she won’t gain as much power if the person ate ice cream every other day and “loved” it.
Member Group: Prefect
Canon or not: Nah.
Appearance:
Michelle, despite some aspects of her personality, could be described as “a picture of the innocent”. She is a petite girl, standing only at five feet, three inches. She is an average weight for her age, and maybe slightly lighter due to her pickiness with food. Despite her thin frame, she does have curves, which are still in development since she is still a little young. She has big, blue-green eyes that always seem to project her inner, bubbly happiness that she wants to share with others. Her vision is poor, so she should be wearing glasses, but she refuses to. Her long hair, which is naturally blonde in color, is dyed a light green color, though she is not actually sure how to describe the color green. In lighter places, the green is more of a darker version of mint green, but in darker places, it is more of a dark lime green. There always seems to be a happy smile or a seductive smirk on her thin, soft lips. She is fair-skinned, but she somehow seems to avoid getting burned by the sun in spite of it.
Michelle is what some describe as a “girly-girl”. She does not really pay much mind to the uniform of the school, which consists of a black skirt and shoes, a red button-down, and a white blazer. The silver badge pinned to her blazer does not seem to bother her much, either. She likes to wear makeup, particularly colors that accentuate her eyes and clothing style of choice. She prefers blouses, and skirts to jeans and t-shirts, though she will wear the latter if she’s feeling particularly lazy. Her favorite color to wear is red, despite the fact that people used to tease her that she looked like some kind of Christmas doll, thanks to her green hair. No matter what outfit she is wearing, though, she ties a yellow ribbon in her long, green hair to “change things up”, since her eyes and hair are both a green color.
Personality
Overall Personality:[/i], even if it is humming or drumming of her fingers against something.
Michelle is a very nice young lady. She always introduces herself with an air of kindness and tries to smile as much as she can. She is a very positive person, and it is reflected in her enthusiasm. She does everything she can to make a good impression on someone, since she is used to being liked in some capacity. She loves being around people and likes to engage in conversation with them, even if it seems they are not particularly interested in what she has to say. She is eager to meet friends; not because she wants to compensate for anything, but merely because she enjoys being around others and draws energy from it. She prefers large, crowded rooms of people as opposed to semi-empty ones, so that she can meet a variety of people and swap experiences. Most of the time, she likes to dominate the conversation, but if someone can get her to stop talking, she’ll prove to be a good listener. She likes to give people advice, sometimes even when they do not ask for it. When she notices others in trouble or suffering, she cannot help but try and make them feel better, even if they do not want her to, or it makes them feel like she is “poking her nose where it does not belong”. In all honesty, she is not trying to be nosy; she just wants people to be happy. She has a very kind heart and will do pretty much anything someone asks, unless it involves something illegal. She is more than willing to offer a shoulder to cry on when someone is upset or an alternative to punching and kicking when someone is angry. She will often be the mediator and third party if there is a fight that is threatening to break out.
Michelle is, without a doubt, a kind person, but she is also quite flirtatious, especially around the opposite sex. Most of her flirting or teasing is harmless and joking in nature. She likes to give compliments and teasingly poke or tickle people. Some see this as an extension of her fun-loving nature, but there is a kind of look she gets about her when she does this. A smirk will grow on her lips and she’ll start batting her eyelashes more frequently. She also likes to cross her arms just a little under her chest, but she does so in a casual manner, as if it is not a big deal. There are some times, though, that she uses her female charm to get what she wants. In addition to being physically beautiful, she is quite talented with her use of words to manipulate a situation in her favor. She does this very rarely though, since she does not want to take advantage of people too much.
In spite of all her good qualities, there are qualities that Michelle possesses that could be considered not so great. First and foremost is that she is very hyper and excited. At first, this may not seem like a bad thing, but she never seems to calm down, which grates on people after a while. She has a short attention span, and thus, gets bored easily, so she always seems to be moving around or wanting to do something. She does have patience, but her need for constant activity or stimulation often gets the better of her. She has a bad habit of invading people’s personal space without realizing it until they are too uncomfortable. Despite the fact that she can manipulate people, Michelle does not often realize when she herself is being manipulated or taken advantage of. Her kindness extends to a point of selflessness that is not exactly normal for others. She enjoys being the center of attention a little too much, but she probably would not do anything drastic to get attention. Lastly, she has a constant habit of apologizing, even if it is not necessary.
Likes:
Dislikes:
* Her natural hair color- Michelle did not dye her hair green to be rebellious, unlike some might believe. Rather, she was not fond of her blonde locks and convinced her mother to let her dye her hair. She becomes quite discontent if she notices the roots growing in “too soon”.
* Being ignored- Michelle understands if someone is busy, but someone outright ignoring her or telling her to ‘hold on’ and then leaving without letting her know makes her upset and irritated.
* Not wearing makeup- Michelle is very particular about her appearance. She does not like going out without makeup on. At the very least, she likes to wear some kind of foundation and mascara.

History
Family Members/guardians: Delilah Baker- Mother- 45- Alive
John Baker- Father- 48- Alive
Clara Baker- Twin Sister- Deceased
History:
Delilah and John Baker, both hailing from Manchester, England were married in 1995, but were not able to have children right away. Delilah went to the doctor after a year or so, praying there was nothing wrong with her. Both her and her husband were tested for any kind of fertility problems, but the results were negative. They kept trying until the middle of May, 1999. Delilah found herself feeling quite ill at work and wondered if something was wrong. Once the pregnancy was confirmed, the parents-to-be were ecstatic and quickly started preparing for their child. At an ultrasound later on in the pregnancy, the couple was surprised to find that they were going to have not one child, but two. They quickly scrambled around to get another set of the items they had been given or bought, and were quite grateful that their house would be able to accommodate one more person. The rest of the pregnancy was normal, for the most part, until the girls were born.
Michelle was actually the second twin to be born, only a few minutes behind Clara, the “older” twin. The little girls were hard to tell apart at first, but the small smile on baby Michelle’s face before she started to wail helped the new parents tell them apart. Delilah and the girls were kept overnight for observation. Sadly, Clara passed on in the middle of the night without any real explanation. At first, the Bakers were heartbroken to hear the news; there had not been anything wrong with Clara, so they did not know why she had passed. The nurse reminded them of little Michelle, though, which made them realize how lucky they were, since both infants could have died. The couple knew that the nurse was right, and made a pact to always remember Clara, but to take the best care of Michelle and give her the best of everything.
Michelle’s childhood was a relatively happy one. She was a happy, outgoing little girl who loved to play with others. She had no trouble adjusting to school, though she was not particularly fond of the work she had to do. Her parents would often have to bribe her to do her homework, but she would eventually do it, typically with their help. Michelle was not the smartest girl in the class, but the teacher always praised her for being kind and caring. She also excelled at playing the piano, which she was initially hesitant about doing, since her parents were paying for lessons in something she had never touched before. She had wanted to quit several times, but her parents encouraged her every time and she was able to learn, with great amounts of practice. All in all, she made her parents very proud and she was very happy with herself.
When Michelle went to first form secondary, she started to notice things changing. People who had once been her friends rejected her and started saying mean things to her. She became very upset, but managed to hold her tears in until she came home from school. Her parents always consoled her and tried to make up for the callous attitudes of her peers. One day, all of the teasing and torment became too much and Michelle picked up a rock in a fit of rage. She was about to reel her arm back to throw it when she realized it had slipped from her fist, though she had not moved her fingers. Her peers were horrified to look down and see chunks of dirt and grass starting to pull out from the ground, after she realized that the rock had somehow slipped from her hand. Even Michelle was terrified as chunks of earth began to fly. She was suspended from school and sent home, where her parents tried to teach her as much as they could so that she would not be behind. Spending several weeks at home caused Michelle’s inner tendencies to flare up, and made her quite hyper. Her parents lectured her many times over those weeks, and she tried her best to focus, but she could not. She had been trying to figure out what was going on with her every time she got distracted.
The bullies continued to tease Michelle and some of the new friends she had made when she returned. Michelle was able to take most of the teasing directed at her in stride, but seeing her friends upset made her both angry and upset. One day, at break time, Michelle saw someone push her friend, Elizabeth, and decided that she had enough of just standing by and being walked on. She charged at the bully, managing to shove him into a wall and let loose a flurry of punches while yelling at him. The teacher had to pull the two students apart. The boy was suspended and Michelle was booted out of the school, not only because of her violence toward another student, but because there was something “wrong” with her, and the school did not want the liability of keeping her on the grounds. Mister and Misses Baker were furious with Michelle at first, but when she explained the situation to them, they realized why the school had kicked her out. They did not want a gifted child on the premises, lest someone get hurt.
After some talking, the Bakers decided to send Michelle into the Ashford program in 2014. They encouraged her to seek out help to control her powers. Michelle said a tearful goodbye to her parents in December of 2014 and headed to Ashford. She bumped into a couple of prefects who were on the island and, after having several lengthy conversations with them, she decided to become one herself. It was a lot of training, and she still has a long way to go, but she is proud of the gains she has made and is eager to see to which team she belongs.

Soft, melodious music drifted through the auditorium as a petite young woman sat at the slightly dusty piano. Her eyes were closed and her forehead was creased in concentration, as if she was were trying to remember something she had learned in primary. Her thin lips were stretched into a small, contented smile. She sat with her back straight, properly, as her Mum and piano teacher had taught her. A pale, thin finger struck a key that caused the smile to drop off her face and become a wince. Dark eyelashes fluttered as her eyelids pulled away to reveal blue-green eyes that stared at the faded ivory of the piano keys her fingers were resting on. A soft sigh slipped from between her now-parted lips. Had she really hit the wrong key again? She had stopped practicing for less than a few weeks and she was already messing up. She shook her head a little, letting a small smile cross her face. No, she would not think like that! She stood up from the piano bench, wincing soft as her sock-covered shin collided with the leg of the piano. There was certainly going to be a bruise on her leg the next day, that was for sure.
Her eyes scanned the auditorium for onlookers before she reached down to untie and remove the black shoes from her feet. She took a few deep breaths before standing on her toes and stretching out both arms to the side. She shifted her feet to second position, with her heels touching so that her feet made a “v” shape and pulled her arms up over her head, her fingertips nearly touching to create half an oval. After shifting to different positions to warm herself up, she started doing a few pirouettes, fan kicks, and arabesque poses. Unlike when she was playing the piano, her eyes were open and she was much more focused on what she was doing; after all, she did not want to hurt herself. Her chest began to rise and fall a little more rapidly to compensate for the work she was doing, even though she seemed to be enjoying herself. This was evidenced by the contented smile that was stretched across her face, even when she made a mistake. She had never taken dance lessons before, so she was not hard on herself for not doing as great as she did on the piano.
A loud slam echoing through the room caused her to stumble a little, essentially halting her. Her eyes drifted toward the back door of the auditorium where something (or maybe it was someone) was standing. The young lady could not tell, because it was hard for her to see when things were too far away. There was a fancy term that the doctor had called it, but she could not remember it, so she just said that she had “terrible long-range vision”. She pulled her long, green hair over her shoulder and took a few more deep breaths to even her breathing. She knew she probably should have worn her glasses, but she had been too late for training that day to grab them and still make it on time. Her trainer was quite the sticker, and frankly, she wondered why the older young woman scowled so much. Typically, Michelle’s bubbly personality endeared her to even the grumpiest of people, but it did not seem to be so this time. As the fuzzy image came closer, Michelle realized that it was indeed, the girl who was training her, and boy, did she look irritated. The clipped demand from the older young woman caused the younger one to grab her shoes and tie them as she tried to climb off the stage. She apologized to the other young lady, scratching the back of her head.
“I’m very sorry, M’am. I just wanted to- Yes, I’m aware that I could have gotten hurt. Or punished for that matter. All right, all right, fine. I won’t wander off without telling you first again. I’m sorry.”
The glower she received made her roll her eyes a little and follow the trainer. She did like the camaraderie of being in the prefect recruits, but she prayed that not all of them were as strict as the one before her. She glanced behind her one more time, at the receding, fuzzy image of the auditorium doors. One day, she would be able to go in there without interruption and play music or dance. Sadly, today was not that day. Of course, she was not going to complain, since she was able to work on her hand-to-hand combat, which was nowhere near close to being decent enough to match her piano-playing.
