Basics
Name: Jonas Kent
Nicknames: Jo, Jo-Jo (though he doesn’t like this one.) Prefers to go by Jonas.
Age: 16
Birthday: 1st December
Grade: (7th - 12th): 10th
Power: Animation- Jonas has the ability to bring his drawings to life. Well, almost at least. The catch is that they are imprisoned in the surface on which they are created. For example, if he were to doodle a dragon in the margin of his notebook, the dragon would be able to maneuver its way around the page, but would not manifest as a 3-Dimensional being. Some of his characters are capable of speech and all of them are animated with characteristics of their own inspired by Jonas's imagination when creating them. While this power is a great party trick, it has little practical application and Jonas feels like it's pretty lame compared to the powers of the other students.
Member Group: Neutral
Canon or not: Not
Appearance: Jonas has nearly grown out of his awkward phase. Tall and broad, he could have the body of an athlete if he cared for sports, but instead he prefers to chill in his dorm, drawing and snacking, and as a result, has wasted what could otherwise be a naturally muscular physique. That being said, he's certainly not fat by any stretch of the imagination but has developed an almost charming layer of chub, particularlly in the belly area. He is a natural red-head but the freckle gene seemed to skip over him leaving him with clear (although sometimes acne prone), pale skin. With baby blue eyes and a seemingly permanent smile, he comes across as being laid-back and approachable. He could be considered handsome, if you're into that sort of thing.
His sense of style would be something of the hipster persuasion. He has a weakness for accessories such as scarves and hats (especially beanies) and rarely leaves his dorm without his aviators. During school hours he reluctantly surrenders to wearing the uniform, but casually rebels by sloppily doing his tie and only bothering to tuck his shirt in when he gets yelled at. As soon as the dismissal bell rings he changes back into his street clothes. Jonas's outfits typically consist of jeans, sneakers, a t-shirt and a button-up checked shirt. He is also in the process of stretching his ears for gauges.
Personality
Overall Personality: On the surface Jonas exudes an air of easy confidence. Friendly, fun, and always up for a good time, he possesses a certain charisma that makes him almost inherently likable. However, lurking below his happy-go-lucky attitude lies something of an inferiority complex which he attempts to compensate for with humour, drugs, and non-stop socliaising. He fills his world with superficial distractions and avoids his problems with an almost admirable stubbornness. Humour has become a shield which he uses to defend himself from the criticism of others. He feels that if he can make everything into a joke, then no one will take him seriously, so when he fails he can pass it off as a joke and negate the consequences.
That being said, Jonas is not a bad person. He values freedom, creativity, and acceptance and he tries to live his life in such a way that reflects these values. Although his insecurities make him prone to jealousy, he has no intentions of hurting anyone and has a strong sense of fairness. His people skills make him a good communicator and he likes to settle arguments between people with as little drama as possible. Jonas feels most at ease when he's in a crowd. When he's surrounded by a group of friends, just hanging out and goofing off, he becomes relaxed and his bubbly personality comes through.
Jonas has a wide range of friends and gets along with most people, but there are still a few personality types that he's guaranteed to be put-off by. He has no tolerance for snobbishness, condescension, and he has a healthy disrespect for authority figures. As a result, he's always had an uneasy relationship with his teachers, parents, and anyone else who sees it as their job to tell him what to do. School has never been his forte, but he is creative and a good artist despite lacking confidence in his own work.
In his free time you can find him either out partying or sitting in his dorm drawing, listening to music, or watching cartoons. He has a childish appreciation for life and can be reckless and impulsive in his decision-making. Mistaking chaos for freedom, he has a fierce independent streak and needs to work on his self-control. He's a bit of a show-off and will do anything for a laugh. However, he avoids and procrastinates his responsibilities and sooner or later it's bound to catch up with him.

History: Jonas grew up in San Francisco, California where his father worked as a successful architect for a large building firm. His mother stayed at home with Jonas and his older sister, Eleanor. The relationship between his parents was always an uneasy one. His mother had never wanted the whole domestic house wife sort of lifestyle, but eventually caved into it with pressure from her husband. She hoped that maybe having kids would help transform her into maternal figure, but she quickly found out that she was still herself, but now with two children to look after. Stress and resentment consumed her life and she ended up becoming very strict with her children in her desperation to keep them under control. Meanwhile, her marriage was tested as Ted began spending more and more time at work, trying to avoid his angry, stressed-out wife. This created a paradox in which the more he stayed away, the more stressed she became which only prompted him to avoid her further.
Needless to say, this was not a particularlly happy environment to grow up in, but Jonas's early childhood was spent oblivious to his parents' struggles. Instead, he was far more interested in making his sister's life a living hell. The two of them got along all right as kids besides the typical sibling rivalry let's-beat-the-crap-out-of-each-other kind of thing, but as they grew older they proved to be two very different people. Eleanor always seemed to excel at that which Jonas struggled. Better behaved, better grades-- she clearly won their mother's favour from an early age. At first Jonas didn't notice or at least tried to ignore his mother's favouritism, but as he grew older he became increasingly frustrated. No matter how hard he tried to be like his sister, he could never live up to her accomplishments. Jealous, he decided to become everything that she wasn't and started to rebel. What he couldn't see was that Eleanor was also jealous of him. He never had to live up to the same expectations that their parents placed on her. The tension grew between the two until they could hardly stand to co-exist in the same house together.
By this point Jonas was doing everything in his power to stay out as long as possible. His grades plummeted and he started involving himself with the "bad" crowd both as a means to stay out of the house and as a sort of half-assed revenge on his parents. This was also about the time when he discovered his lame power and the Ashford Academy took notice. At first he resisted joining the school, unwilling to move away from his new friends, but eventually his mother made up his mind for him. Deciding his reckless behaviour had gotten out of control, she decided to send him away to the academy, hoping that maybe, just maybe the school would be able to crush the rebellious nature out of her son. Jonas felt betrayed by her choice and is determined to prove that he is who he is and she will never make a conformist out of him.

RP Sample: Early morning found Sigmund already at the laboratory. He wore a crisp white lab coat and hummed a little as he strolled down a florescent-lit corridor. A parcel was tucked under his arm.
The corridor was lined with identical metal doors, each one painted with a white number and displaying a letter-sized flap just large enough for a plate of food to be shoved through. The Good Doctor paused outside the last door in the row and pulled a ring of keys from his coat pocket. Still humming, he pushed the door open and let himself in. Everything in the cell was starkly white and the scent of disinfectant was so heavy it seemed to weigh down the air itself. A metal bed was chained to one wall and a bucket sat in the corner, but the cell was mostly empty. Except for the girl. A pretty young thing, her emaciated frame trembled as Dr. Delacroix inspected her from the far side of the room.
"Good morning, my dear," he said cloyingly with his feral smile. The girl seemed to shrink as he approached her. Tutting, he placed a hand under her chin and forced her eyes to meet his. "My poor pet," he said, examining her face coolly, "such beauty marred by fear. What a pity that you couldn't behave yourself and ended up here with me. One can only imagine what looks like that could get you. They have already gotten you more than you deserve with me." The doctor shook his head solemnly and released her chin. "But I suppose it could be worse. You could have ended up one of those sniveling disgraces we like to use for our little project. Aren't you thankful that I saved you?" he said, allowing his hand to trail down and linger near her thigh. "I even brought you a gift today. See how I spoil you?" He dropped the parcel on the floor at the girl's feet. Smiling, he said sweetly, "pick it up and change into those. I have a job for you."
