Creaking bounced off the stone walls and echoed all around. With a large grin and flashlight in hand, Sage slipped through the doorway and bounded down the old stairs. Once she jumped the last few steps, landing with a light thump she glanced around the dark room. The last rays of slight slowly dying as the door completely shut behind her. Oh well, the dark never hurt anyone, right? Maybe. There’s a decent possibility it didn’t, anyway. However, even with that itty bitty possibility still hovering in the back of her mind, she flicked on the flashlight and peered around the world she just flew into.
The musk filled room was filled to the brim all sorts of ickiness. Water dripping down the stone walls, assorted odds and bits filled the main room and cobwebs creating nifty designs in the high corners. It definitely earned the nickname the dungeon. However, sage didn’t see any shackles to the walls where they would supposedly lock the students up. Major disappointment. But! She did a see a door along the far end of the little room. Bounding over to the door, she took no time in discovering that it was locked. Now, a locked door in a basement of a school wasn’t that surprising but when one hears all sorts of rumors of torture and evil deeds, it’s kinda scary and exciting wrapped into one!
So, instead of just leaving like she probably should have. Sage took a step back and kicked as hard as she could at the door. After two or three kicks the lock finally caved and the door swung in. “SWEET!” She called before slapping a hand over her mouth. Making loud noises probably wasn’t the brightest of ideas when you were trying to be sneaky. Grinning widely she crept through the door, pausing just inside of it. She only got a few footsteps inside when her stomach dropped. The feelings of anguish, determination, and guilt suddenly overwhelmed her. Her knees wobbled causing her to brace herself against a wall. Sage didn’t expect that the rumors were true but those feelings… those feelings gave a different story.
They told the story that something big had or will happen in this confined space. Now, the big question. Were they from the past or the future? Going on the slim chance that they could be the future she decided to buck up and continue on. Despite the wobbly knees and progressing headache she continued down the small hallway, hoping to find someone before they got hurt. People hurting was definitely not on today’s To Do list and if she could prevent it then she sure as h-e-double hockey sticks would. Deciding to take a leap of fate she called out in a soft voice, “Hello...?” After all, it was the quickest way to find someone.
