Power
Shapeshifting
The exact nature of the power is unfounded. All that anyone knows about this power is what you can see it has done to the one who it is affecting. It easy to tell that it has changed the user's appearance to that of a large anthropomorphic wolf, but whether Okami will ever be able to change back, or into any other form at all, is not known.
As well as having changed looks, the shape-shifting power has also given him the benefits that an animal has. The sense of smell, hearing, and sight, have all been made stronger. Odd flexibility, and a tail, have been given to the student, however, that can be debated upon on if it is actually beneficial. The hair, as well as the one functioning eye, that the form gave to Okami can simply be called a complication. Though the fur all over the wolf-man's body keeps him warm, he is now forced to wear thinner clothes, and normally pants made with a hole suited for his tail.
It also does not help that the fur gets everywhere.
Precognition
This is the ability to perceive events before they actually occur. Likely because this ability is something that the wolf-man has no idea how to control, it mainly works through Okami's senses. Perhaps the most often use of this power is how he feels pain before any is given to him. Because of things like this, the wolf will be slow to respond to many of the things he hears to assure himself that nothing is being said without confusion. The most disorientating effect this has on Kolton is when his ability is acting through his sight. It often gives him the feeling of vertigo when he tries to look around too fast. What happens is he will start to look in a direction, and the power may kick in and show him what he will see momentarily while he continues to move.
This power, when fully developed, will likely give Okami the ability see full events before they happen. However, they have yet to reach that point. Any event shown to him by his ability can only be recognized through one of his senses. The usual trigger for this are moments of stress. If some things like being nervous, excited, or angry are to occur within a few minutes, it is almost guaranteed to set this power in motion. However one of his senses from that point in the future are reacting to something, they will begin to react that way before the event occurs. With the lack of any idea on how to control this ability in general, and how unpredictably it works, it can easily be seen as very disadvantageous.
Solar Empowerment
The ability to rejuvenate, and strengthen, one's body by using heat from the sun's rays. Jake's body will become tougher, and harder to break, when in direct contact with sunlight. It will also have any wounds that the wolf-man has heal quicker than normal, though not rapidly. Though unknown as to why, this power does not activate as strongly when using heat from any other source, and fire itself can quite easily harm Jake if it comes into direct contact with him. It is possible that it does damage faster to the boy than his body can heal, but it is ultimately not known.
However this power may work when the young man's body is fully developed is also unknown. Possibilities of him being able to expel heat, or use his body to manifest light, may one day become an option for him, but this power's full potential eludes everyone. Just as with his shape-shifting, Jake cannot control how affected by his ability to draw in energy he is. If in the sun for several hours at a time, it may force him into a state of being overly active. It causes the teenager to be overly excited, and given a need to move constantly if he has not been already.

Preferably, yes, though I understand if you'd rather someone new not have a canon character.
Appearance
Because of his unpredictable powers, it is hard to say there is any definitive appearance the teenager has. Currently, Okami's appearance is that of an anthropomorphic wolf. This form has a very muscular build, which is surprising considering how little working out he does while possessing it. He stands at about six feet, and six inches, tall. The blueish gray hair on the wolf-man lies flat along his body, except his tail, and on his head where it fluffs out similarly to a mohawk and turns to white.
Okami has one blue eye that never seems to show exhaustion, the other is blind and hidden behind an eye-patch. There are two pointed ears on the wolf-man's head that reach above his odd hair. And he has a strong jawline that goes well with his broad shoulders, as well as his upright posture. Very little on the shape-shifter's body shows any sign of inactivity. It is plain to see that Okami is very tense, and though it is difficult to make out the muscles clearly, it is plain that he is often flexing.
The type of clothes that the animal-like being normally wears are loose-fitting to accommodate how hot he gets in under his fur. The usual garments worn are plaid shorts, T-shirts with graphic designs, and tank tops. Due to his feet having hair, the student goes barefoot when permitted, though he offers no complaints because the skin on his feet have become tougher with his transformation. It is actually not uncommon for him to go shirtless, either. Key-chains, as well as necklaces, are not uncommon for Okami to wear, he feels they suite the appearance he has been forced into rather well. it is rare to see him in pants outside of uniform, and unheard of to see him in any kind of thick clothing. However, there is the possibility of him showing up to certain events in a suit.
Personality
Overall Personality[/s]
Okami usually comes off as a blunt, but caring person. Because of how awkward the student can be about his feelings, and how little he normally talks about them in general, it is often difficult for people to understand what he tries to express. Because of that inability to talk to others well, he often practices on himself. This usually leads to him asking about topics other than himself when in conversation with another person, to avoid anything that would otherwise embarrass him. And for the reason that he finds learning about other people interesting.
The uncontrollable nature of the poor soul's powers tend to leave him on edge a lot of the time. This becomes obvious in how when he walks around he often stumbles, though he rarely loses his balance entirely because of how used to the sensation he has become. The ability to see his future in general pricks at the wolf-man's mind, but something that bothers him as well is his inability to change his appearance to anything else. If approached in the wrong manner, it can easily anger him. That being said, he is a very forgiving person, and it is unlikely for him to hold grudges if you did upset him. The young man would much rather make those around him laugh by making jokes, and takes part in many silly endeavors that may make him uncomfortable to keep everyone happy.
Since he has quite a few things that set him on edge, Okami puts the things that make him relax on a high pedestal. Enjoying himself, and the company around him, are things he does whenever he can. His ability to skate, and play guitar, was something he had before his strange powers were recognized, and he has only improved his prowess in both since having changed. Something else that is seen many times is the wolf laying down, trying to calm himself down from everything that's eating away at his brain. These things are what the anthropomorph will always make time for.
They are the little things that he believes are necessary for him to keep sane.

History
Okami, he called himself Jake at this point in time, had been living a relatively normal life. It also was not one you could say was too interesting either. His parents gave him a lot of freedom to do what he wanted, but not so much that he could get away with disobeying a few house rules they had for their only son.
Though not exactly special, Jake had quite a few things to keep him occupied throughout the time he spent before Ashford. He sketched for a while, but found other things to appeal to him more. The reason the teenager decided to buy a bass instead of a regular guitar comes back to a silly conversation between him and his parents about how there were not enough 'cool bassists' in the music industry. The idea of learning to play any kind of guitar in general was brought up to him as teenager, something his father thought would exciting for his son to do. Maybe it was Benjamin's idea of trying to get Jake into a hobby other than skateboarding, since that hobby brought the boy home with lots of injuries. That being said, the young man became quite good at it.
Though there were hints about his precognitious power throughout much of his childhood, because there had been no obvious reason for anyone to think of Jake having special powers, it was not until Jake had involved himself at the academy that the power was realized. When his parents had approached a doctor about the signs, they were told that 'your son is just going through practically harmless episodes of vertigo'. Jake himself even assumed the same thing, until the year he turned sixteen. A pain woke him up by surging through his body while sleeping one night, and his transformation into something otherworldly began. It obviously caught his parents off guard, and they were definitely not sure what to do about the turn of events their son went through at first. While Jake had shown no mental, or instinctual, changes, not much time went by before they decided to send him to Ashford for his own safety. Because they were unaware at the time of what truly waited for their son in the school, Benjamin, and of course Maria, sent their only child with a chain-link necklace that bore a cross upon it.
"No matter what happens there, do your best, and come back to us.
You can look however you want when you do, and take your time.
Just remember to come home."
Shortly after moving into the dorms of Ashford Academy, Jake decided that he wanted to give himself a different name then the one his parents gave him. Even though he does not necessarily care if anyone calls him by his real name, he prefers to be called 'Okami' until he returns himself to what he believes is normal. When the teenager finishes his time at his new school, he intends to return home. Whether or not he does become human again is irrelevant to that goal.

Somewhere in the forest near Ashford academy, there laid a student trying to clear his mind. Jake had come to this place under the trees often since he first arrived about a month ago and it quickly became a place of solace for him. It felt as if many of the other students were still trying to get used to the idea of the reason why they had to come to this place, and being around something like a wolf-man could only make it seem like a bigger punch in the face than everything already was. Being away from home, surrounded by so many strangers with who-knows-what going in their heads...
That had to be a difficult thing to come to terms with. For some reason Jake did not feel too worried. Maybe it was the grass beneath his body, or the fresh air around him, but something about this place put him at ease.
"Maybe I'm turning native." The idea made him start laughing at loud when he brought it up to himself, and started talking in the most stereotypical news anchor voice he could... "This just in, werewolf turns completely feral and starts living his life somewhere deep in the woods outside of Ashford Academy."
The teenager was chuckling while talking about himself, trying not to be too loud in case if anyone happened upon him when taking a stroll themselves. As if someone would wander so far into the woods, this place had to be empty. Except for the obvious things a forest would have in it, of course.
"Actually, would it be right for me to call myself a werewolf?" The thought only crossed his mind a few minutes after he spoke the words aloud, and it made him wonder what he should actually be calling himself until he could be human again. A werewolf has the ability to change back, so I can't really call myself that. This made him feel uncomfortable, not knowing about what he really was. Wolf-man sounded too generic, calling himself anthropomorphic would be too hard to say in regular conversation, and saying that he was a furry might lead to some unwanted stereotypes. And then a memory in his brain got triggered.
"I can call myself Okami!" The boy exclaimed excitedly and sat up. "Not only does it sound cool, but it's foreign so that makes it even better." Jake then sprawled himself out under the trees, with a big grin on his muzzle as he thought about what he had come up with. Another nice thing about the name, it meant "great wolf" in Japanese, but the happy soul did not bring that up to himself. Feeling satisfied, the smile got lighter as his words continued.
"I can call myself Okami until I'm human again, until then..."
