Nicknames: Chris
Age: 14
Birthday: September 3, 2000
Grade: 9
Power:
Precognition
Christopher has the ability to see coded visions of the future. Usually, these visions come to him during a seizure. They appear as a set of images or numbers that he has to interpret the meaning of. Usually, he only has one vision at a time during an episode, but he has been known to see two visions during the same seizure. Despite the fact that he can see the visions, his memory of them is rather inconsistent, because, during a seizure, a person has a lapse in consciousness because of electrical overload to the brain. This overload prevents the coded vision from being stored properly in his memory.
Decoding
Christopher has the ability to decode any kind of puzzle or code that is given to him. All he has to do, for the most part, is look at something and his brain puts the pieces together rather quickly from there. He often utilizes this ability to interpret the visions he sees during his seizures, if he can remember them. Despite the fact that he can solve any crossword or Sudoku puzzle in a matter of minutes with this ability, he represses it while doing these activities to enjoy some mental stimulation.
Psychic Lightning Manipulation
Christopher has the ability to manipulate his own psychic energy to use in a fight, if necessary. He is able to utilize the electricity in his mind to create psionic energy blasts that exit from his hands. These blasts can have effects on the minds of others, mainly by scrambling their thoughts and messing with their brain's’ bioelectric fields. It can also affect electrical machines nearby. However, this power is in its very beginning stages, so the effects are not as powerful as they would be in advanced users. A major drawback of this power is that using it too much disrupts his own bioelectric field, specifically in his brain. Using this power too much will trigger his epilepsy and he will most likely have a string of seizures.
Member Group: Neutral
Canon or not: Nah.
Appearance: Christopher appears younger than his fourteen years, and, as a matter of fact, people used to call him ‘kid’ a lot. He is rather short for a young man, only standing at about five feet tall. He is on the thin side as well, weighing in at about 100 lbs due to a poor diet in his home. His extremely fair skin makes him seem like a fragile doll with a porcelain face; something that should be displayed rather than played with. His eyes are rather large and his irises are a deep, dark brown that almost match the black pupils that lay in the center of said irises. He tends to keep his eyes focused downward. His mother taught him that it was “respectful”, even though this is only true in some cultures. The rest of his facial features, including his nose and his lips, are thin and small, which only serves to help the doll comparison. His snow white hair is shaggy, thick and difficult for him to manage. He often just lets it be how it pleases, since he hardly has the patience or the attention span to fix it. His posture is a little awkward, since he tends to round his shoulders and almost curl in on himself, even when he is speaking with someone.
Christopher’s style of dress is rather unusual. When he is not wearing the school uniform, he prefers to wear light colors. He does not really pay much attention to his outfits, so he tends to throw random pieces together. Usually, he wears a long-sleeved, white button up shirt and a pair of light blue jeans. Other combinations include t-shirts and jeans and the occasional pair of hand me-down sweatpants. A lot of his clothes seem to be a little too large, as if they were gifted him for whatever reason. He prefers to keep them clean, though he does not like to button his typical shirt to his neck, mainly because he feels that it is uncomfortable and might even make it hard to breathe.
Personality
Overall Personality:
Christopher is, by all accounts, an introverted young man. He prefers to keep to himself and to not bother anyone. He usually carries around Sudoku or crossword puzzles to entertain himself and to calm himself around other people. Despite the fact that he is curious about other people’s actions and behaviors, he becomes very anxious when there are too many people around. He prefers to watch from a distance, where no one can really touch him or hurt him. This might stem from what happened to him as a child, but he refuses to talk about those events because remembering them also gives him anxiety. He is diagnosed with Social Anxiety, which cripples him in social situations. He finds himself feeling panicked whenever he has to talk to people and sometimes, if there are too many people talking to him at once, he will flee. More often than not, this situation will lead to a panic attack, which scare him quite a bit. He is able to pull through them, but not without the sensation of crushing chest pain and severe sweating. None of these things are helped by the fact that he was treated very harshly by his mother when he was a child, and, from those experiences, he learned that not saying a word and keeping to himself was much better than getting hit. His shyness is deeply ingrained, though he can say hello if the situation seems appropriate. Beyond that, though, he tries to avoid interaction as much as possible for fear of making someone angry or getting hurt, somehow. He does, however, like to think. He likes to ponder about the state of the world and how things would be different. Many people would say this is childish daydreaming, but he likes to think that maybe, during one of his many sessions of pensiveness, he will be able to find an alternative to a solution that many people are taking that is not efficient.
Christopher is, for better or for worse, a rather negative and slightly sarcastic person as well. If he had any friends, they would know that he sees the world in a very grim light. He can point out almost every bad thing he sees in the world at the drop of a hat, but it takes him some time to figure out the more positive things. He is quick to criticize society and how it treats the people contained in it. He sees human nature as selfish and egotistical. He does not want people to give all of themselves away, like a saint or something, but would rather see others actually care about each other and offer helping hands to those in need. Deep down, he believes that his mother just needed help and that, if she had it, he probably would not have been hurt so much. He also knows that he lives in reality and that was is past is past. As negative as he can be though, he is usually realistic about said negativity. He does not believe that the human race will eradicate itself with it’s own stupidity; rather, he likes to think that some people will see the problems the world has and find a better solution for them, even if it takes thousands of years for them to do so. He also has a sense of sarcasm that can really only be appreciated by those who share an understanding of the language he uses. Usually, this side of him comes out when he can get past his anxiety and actually get to know people. Really, he uses it as a mechanism to make jokes or poke fun at the world and how he sees it and himself so that he can become more comfortable with the new person he is with.
Deep down, though, Christopher is a very kind person. He has the innate desire to help anyone and everyone he can, but he is limited by his anxiety. Making friends is very hard for him, but when he does manage to make them, he is loyal to them until the end. Despite his realistic negativity, he has hope that he can improve himself and maybe, if he can do that, then he can help improve the world. He is a very strong young man, who has been through a lot in his short life and can power through a tough situation if he puts his mind to it. He really does not like violence and tries not to fight unless he absolutely has to. He does not know that his one power could be a culprit to contribute to his seizures, but, if he did, he would certainly not use it at all. He tries his hardest to make the best of every situation he is in, even when the odds are stacked against him. He likes to believe that the underdog will come out on top, even if he is beaten down repeatedly. In a way, he is also optimistic, but he prefers to keep this side to himself, because he knows that too much of thinking that way is a bad thing. He likes to keep himself grounded and tries to see things from multiple perspectives. He is very polite to people when he disagrees with them and it is actually very hard to anger him.

History:
Lenora and Douglas were seniors in high school when they started dating. Their relationship was passionate and fast-paced, so much so that they ended up conceiving a child mid-way through the year. Thankfully, Lenora was able to graduate high school, but she was not able to start college before giving birth to their son, Christopher, who was born in September of 2000. The young couple decided soon after the birth of their son to get married, despite their parents’ vehement protests. They flew to Las Vegas, leaving their newborn in the care of a nanny, and married in October before returning to Georgia, where they both lived. Soon after, both of their parents evicted their children from their homes and told them to find a house to live in a get a job, because babies were expensive. The couple were able to rent an apartment in Atlanta and were quite content for a few months, until Christopher came down with his first major illness.
Lenora had taken Christopher to the park one day because he was a rather fussy baby and liked to be outside. What she did not realize was that one of the little kids playing in the park had measles. The little boy was not old enough to receive his immunizations and had caught the disease from the girl, who had touched him while saying hello. After waiting a few days, the young mother realized that the condition was not going away and she went to the emergency room as fast as she could. The doctors there scolded her for not taking better care of her son and having his immunizations done. After this incident, Lenora demanded that her husband work as many jobs as possible to pay the hospital bill that came in afterward, since they did not have insurance. Little Christopher found himself locked in his room at night while his parents screamed and argued about money downstairs. His cries were largely ignored by the couple, who did not seem to remember they had an infant upstairs. Many night, the baby boy found himself curling up in a dirty diaper, sniffling as he fell asleep. One thing was clear: The Sanders were not ready to be parents.
As Christopher grew older, he noticed that his father was barely ever at home. The poor man had taken a full time job as well as two part time jobs, just to keep the family afloat. He wondered why his mother did not go to look for work as well, but she insisted that ‘someone has to watch you, you little brat’. His mother was very cruel to him, calling him terrible names. Once he was old enough to start getting in trouble, she would lock him in his room as a punishment. He often sat silently on his bed, looking out the window and wondering if there was a better life beyond the rotten filth that lurked in the city. School was not a lot better than his life at home. Sure, it gave him a respite from his mother, but cruel children called him the same names his mother did and worse because he had a hard time reading. They called him stupid, retarded, and bullied him physically as well, with fists and feet and elbows in his ribs. Of course, his mother did not really seem to notice this, even when he told her about it. She was more interested in his poor school performance, which was mostly due to his untreated dyslexia and another condition that was starting make itself known.
Christopher found it very hard to remember what happened in class a lot of the time because he blacked out. At first, when he told his mother about it, she wrote it off, telling him that he was just lazy. She only came to believe that he had a condition when the nurse at school had called her to inform her that her son was seizing. After making sure the insurance would cover it, Lenora dragged Christopher to a plethora of doctors. Needle after needle and test after test, nothing seemed to be wrong with any of the little boy’s body systems. The last doctor the young boy saw suggested a neurologist and low and behold, the Sanders family received an answer. At the age of 9, Christopher was diagnosed with Epilepsy, with Absent Complex Seizures. Whenever he went into a seizure, he often stared out into the distance, as if he was daydreaming. The only indication that he was having a seizure would be a subtle twitch of his hand or eye. Lenora and Douglas did not have the money to put Christopher on the medication to help his seizures, so they were not as strict with his grades as compensation. Of course, this did not prevent Lenora from beating Christopher while Douglas was at work for whatever reason she could fabricate. Usually, it was because he was being “defiant”, because he was scared of the children in the neighborhood and did not want to play with them.
Christopher developed worsening social anxiety over time, and barely interacted with his peers at school. He struggled with schoolwork because of his dyslexia and his seizures. He really thought that nothing could be worse than what he was going through. Of course, the world was going to prove him wrong once again. When he turned eleven, he had an unusual seizure. He actually remembered it because there was a string of numbers in it. He grabbed a decoder book that he had borrowed from the library and struggled to decode the message that he had seen. ‘You will be judged for who you are’ was what it had said and the young man became very confused by it. He told his mother about it and was promptly sent to bed without any supper, along with a few smacks for good measure. He also started noticing that he could solve crossword puzzles with relative ease in English class. He started picking up the newspaper on his doorstep and started doing the Sudoku puzzles as well, because he was rather talented with numbers. Or, at least, that was what his teacher had said. After a while, solving puzzles became almost like second nature to him and he was finally able to be proud of something, even if he had to hide the bruises and scars that were gifted to him by the person who dared call herself his mother.
The final straw was when Christopher accidentally retaliated against his mother. She had been drinking heavily on the night in question and she was threatening him with a sharp object. In a panic, he curled in on himself and kept thinking that he wished she would go away and leave him alone. He felt sparks and an almost electric-like sensation in his head and, before he knew it, his mother was on the floor. He could not see her chest rising and falling and panic set it. He grabbed the knife she had been holding and stuck it firmly into the wall, running away from the scene as fast as he could. He did not even think about his father at the time; he had killed his mother by basically overloading her brain with the electricity from his own. How he was able to do that, he was not sure, but it scared him. He ran to the nearest police station and started to ask them about powers and being able to see things before lapsing into a seizure. The police sent the boy to the hospital, thinking that he was mentally unwell and, after evaluation, one of the hospital personnel got in contact with a government agent. The agent persuaded the young man to come to Ashford, because it was “safe for people like him”. He was wary of this suggestion, but he had nowhere else to go, so he accepted the offer.
