The days here at ashford continued to drag on endlessly it seemed the longer a person was here. That's what Zander believed, at least. There was only so much for someone to do before things got monotonous. Monotonous and soul-sucking. And Zander hated every second of it.
In fact, the monotony was getting so bad that he decided to do something he thought he would never do: Set up a surprise party in his dorm for his partner and roommate, Erebus Ryder. Why was this a surprise? Well, for one thing, the two never got along real well. Not that they were exactly hostile to each other, but they never did quite agree on any one subject. For another, Ryder always seemed to have some sort of... disdain, or reluctance, to work with people? It's not that Zander was pushy about working right beside him all the time, but every time they were paired for patrols or some such team objective, Ryder always went and did his thing, and Zander was left high and dry. Not that Ryder wasn't working, mind you, but how was he supposed to feel like he was part of a team if his own team didn't seem to want to associate with him?
That's why Zander was determined to get some sort of positive reaction out of Ryder for tonight. And while it cost him an arm and a leg from his wallet, figuratively speaking, he made sure they had whatever they could ask for available: Pizza, beef jerky, chips, small bags of assorted sweets, a variety of sodas (think a pair of 12 can packs with all kinds of cans stuffed in them), and other things too numerous to list. He must have had a whole week's worth of snacks and drinks in here, all set aside so as to not clutter the room. Hell, he even pulled out a couple board games and his old PS3 and a collection of his favorite games for them to relax and have fun. And just as he placed the last game case for the ps3 in the stack near the console, he heard the rattle of keys at the door. Perfect timing he thought to himself, spinning right around and giving a strong, hearty grin to his teammate.
"About time you got off. I thought you only had a couple pages left on that last stack and you were done? Not that I'm really complaining: It gave me the perfect amount of time to set up... Oh yeah, surprise!!!"
