Basics
Name:
Arabella Sophia Langley
Nicknames:
Ara, Bella, Ace of Spades
Age:
sixteen
Birthday:
September 9
Grade: (7th - 12th)
: 12th (she skipped a year)
Power: Statistic Vision - Arabella's main power is to literally see the world in numbers. The power is always working and as such, Ara is able to see numbers wherever she goes. However, she is limited to seeing the numbers for the possibilities she knows exists. For instance, if she witnesses someone running, she can see the possibilities of the person falling, jumping or tripping. However, she cannot see the possibility of a dragon swooping in and snatching him, as in Arabella's mind, its not probable. Just because she can see the possibilities of something does not mean she can predict what the person will choose to do. She can merely see the likeliness in terms of what she knows and the information she has, thus, if a person were to do something out of character or choose the less likely of the possibilities, she would have no way of predicting it.
For now, her statistic vision only allows her to see the the direct possibilities in regards of an action. For instance, if a person is standing still, she can see the likeliness he will walk away or sit down. However, she will not be able to see further than that, such as the possibility of him falling down after walking away,at least until he actually begins walking.
Also, due to the logical nature of her abilities, when Arabella feels intense emotion, it causes her whole vision to go blurry, givng her intense migraines. Emotions also run the risk of skewing the numbers she sees, as it tends to override her judgement about what to look for.
Enahnced Intelligence - Arabella is able to quickly retain and memorize information as it's presented to her as well as recall facts she may have come across or gone over. She's able to understand factual concepts such as science and math, however, she finds much difficulty in understanding abstract concepts and meaning such as emotion, poetry, ect, ect. Arabella also has retained a rather decent medical knowledge, able to quickly tend to her party's wounds if called for.

Appearance: Considering she's a sixteen-year-old girl, Arabella is rather underdeveloped. Arabella is immensely petite, standing at only 4'11". If it wasn't for her mannerisms, she might be mistaked for younger. Her doll-like figure is tiny and slim with very little body fat. Her skin is porcelain with practically no flaws that perfectly compliments her hair and eyes. Arabella's hair is a soft pink color, full and thick, when left down its length reaches her waist. Typically, her hair is tied into a high ponytail with strands left to frame her face. Arabella's face is what someone typically calls cute, her features small and delicate with a tiny nose and mouth. The most notable feature are her eyes, a pink hue just slightly darker than her hair, large and framed by heavy lashes, what most would describe as innocent, if it weren't for her expression. As if matching her doll-like appearance, Ara's face is typically devoid of emotion, a blank, glossy look in her eyes. Almost as if she's perpetually bored.
Arabella's wardrobe is well kept and tidy, not necessarily preppy, but consists largely of collared shirts, ties, ect. Arabella is almost never without her PDA, gadget (many of which are used as recording devices), and/or book in her hand.
Personality
Use at least six positive and negative characteristics and give a one sentence explanation. Also include at least one strength and one weakness.[/b]- Even without her powers, Arabella has always been immensely intelligent. She's always calculating, attempting to explain and justify the actions taken by those around her, explain the world. She's a dedicated learner, who enjoys taking in new facts and information. Her intelligence also allowed her to skip a grade. She most likely wouldn't even be in class if it weren't for the government needing her to observe those at the school.
Positive:
* Patient- Especially for a teenager, Arabella is immensely patient, she knows that numbers can shift at any time and thus can wait for the best possible opportunity to present itself.
* diligent- Arabella is extremely hardworking, she puts all her effort into everything she deems worthy of it, no matter how seemingly pointless the task may be to everyone else.
* logical- As Arabella is not governed by emotion, she is able to see situations by solely the facts and not allow emotion to cloud her judgement. Thus, making excellent calls when giving directions. She always makes sure to think a situation threw before she makes any rash decisions that could jeopardize her mission.
* Survivor - With her powers, Arabella is able to turn unfortunate situations around, at least to the point where she and her party can survive it. Even if she doesn't have much care for life, a part of her continues to press forward and try to keep her party going as well.
* Strategist - Being a strategist and support was Arabella's primary function to the government. Their weapon to increase their odds in battle, manipulating the numbers in their favor. Having been government trained, Arabella is quite able in assisting her party and running reconnaisance with little to no suspicion from outsiders. She's also able to keep hidden during battle in order to watch the outcomes and be capable of quickly processing them.[/ul]
Negative:
* Overthinks- Arabella is extremely intelligent, she's a walking scientific journal, however, this causes Arabella to overlook simply explanations or try to explain things that simply can't be. She lacks much of the common sense that most people possess.
* Lack of Social skills- Arabella's primary interactions have consisted of people older than her, who simply use her for her abilities. Other than her team, she doesn't have many acquaintances her own age and while she knows the science of interaction and relationships, engaging in them is another story. She often says whatever pops into her head with no consideration of other's emotions and doesn't know how to make small talk.
* Apathetic- Due to the nature of her powers, Arabella refuses to feel emotions, she's taught herself to be cold,calculated, just like a machine. As such, she doesn't know how to respond in situations of high emotions and if she does begin to feel emotional, it causes her powers to falter and possible produce false information. Due to the nature of her powers, she's also able to see both the good and bad possibilities of life. Losing this sense of surprise has greatly reduced the amount of meaning life has for her. If she already knows where her life is going, then why bother trying to change it?
* Mission First- For Ara, the mission is her entire life. She knows nothing outside of it, thus she's quick to put it first, before others and before herself.
* Follower- While Arabella may see the moral issues of the Ashford project, she sees the world in the statistics the Ashford program has given her. She sees the world as a dangerous place and thus, may truly believe Ashford is helping. She is also aware of how the government is simply using her, but she doesn't care, because she is also expanding her own life expectancy by working for them rather than against him.[/ul]
Likes:
* technology-
* Reading- Ara prefers nonfiction, but she likes knowing as much information as she can, as that helps her identify all the possibilities and then see their percentages in battle.
* Facts - Cold, hard, true. There's no thinking about it, nothing complex to worry about. They help her understand the world because she requires an explanation about everything, she needs life to be explained, otherwise she'd question what the point is. [/ul]
Dislikes:
* Physical Exertion- Optional explanation
* Fiction- Optional explanation
* Discussing herself- Optional explanation
* failure- [/ul]
Extra: Arabella's language is largely cordial and sometimes sounds if she's constantly utilizing a thesaurus. When speaking to others, she has a habit of looking past them, which she typically is, as she's usually watching the numbers rather than the person themselves.

History
Family Members/guardians:
Robert Langley - father - deceased
Beatrice Langley - mother- deceased
History: Arabella was born in the Eastern United States to two international businesspeople, Robert and Beatrice Langley. Despite their busy schedules, the two loved Arabella more than anything else. They nurtured her and helped her grow, providing the est education and life they could give their daughter. The little girl Arabella once was is a far cry from the young woman she is today. The reasons for the drastic change coincide with a single event: the death of her parents and her powers
Arabella had been seeing numbers all day, complaining that her head hurt, that she didn't understand. While it could easily have been explained as a product of a child's imagination and too much studying, her worried parents chose to have their child examined.
As they drove to their physician's office, Arabella began to connect the numbers at the actions of her parents. Being a rather smart girl, she could see the patterns, and the numbers became more organized in her head, rather than a chaotic mess of meaningless digits.
There was one number that stood out to her, a number that was much higher than all the rest, but she didn't know what it was for or what it meant. She brushed it off, little did she know that that number was determining the fate of her parents.
The number in question was the possibility of a car crash.
The last thing she heard her mother say was that everything would be alright. Little did Arabella know was those would be her mother's final words. The impact was sudden, a drunk driver speeding a red light, colliding with their vehicle. When rescuers arrived, they found Arabella tangled in a mangled pile of metal, barely breathing, but miraculously alive.
When she awoke, the first thing Arabella did was ask about her parents, but somehow, she already knew the doctor's answer despite his hesitation. There was no other option, it was 100 percent, her parents were gone.
Arabella's began to break down in grief and pain and regret. If only she knew. If only she had paid more attention. Her parents may have still been alive. The pain was overwhelming, both emotional and physical. The more she unleashed her frustrations, the more her head ached and her vision began to blurr, the numbers making less and less sense. The doctor's found her to be hysterical, injecting her with tranquilizers to help her relax.
When Arabella awoke, she was no longer in the hospital, but a government facility. The agent was a stern-faced older woman who explained to Arabella that they would be using her powers to "save the world" and that they would be able to "protect her". She had already failed to save her parents, maybe now she'd be able to do something and to top it off, she would be kept from harm from the horrible, chaotic thing they called life.
The event left Arabella with survivor's guilt and a form of PTSD, she placed a block on her mind to keep herself from breaking down and experiencing the intense pain her emotions caused her. Her mission became her everything, the only thing she could possibly rely on. With her skill set, Arabella became part of an elite group of government-trained gifted and was sent to Ashford Academy to be their informant.
