" Lilith recited, drumming her fingers against the counter as she sang to herself. "Soon it will all be over, buried with our past. ... We used to play outside when we were young." The radio was a very nice companion in her dorm, which made the lyrics to the popular song as familiar to her as her own thoughts. She could hardly imagine what her roommate must think of her, all things considered. Probably that she needed some serious therapy. But Lilith doubted she was the only one.[/blockquote][/blockquote]Things were a bit odd now. Since the kidnapping scare, everything was just a little scary. Being alone seemed like a crime, and going outside after the sunset felt like a death wish, even though the threat was nullified. Lilith hadn't quite recovered from the scare. She had distinctly been avoiding Seth and McCoy, which lead to far too many hours holed up in her dorm, snacking on packaged food. When it wasn't enough, she'd sneak into the kitchen and plead for a plate so she could avoid walking among all the other students.
Cowardly? Perhaps. But the friendly sixteen year old felt more reserved lately than she could ever remember feeling in her life. She hardly chanced making eye contact when it was absolutely necessary to venture into crowded areas, like hallways, and she made straight beelines for each classroom, shrugging off greetings and throwing herself into masses of people so that she could just be one of many shuffling through the day. In the classroom she opened up only slightly by having casual conversations with familiar classmates before the bell and answering with concise word choice whenever she was called upon by a teacher.
Today was the day that was all going to change.
Lilith stood above a bowl, stirring the powder of chocolate pudding into the milk until the consistency began to change to a thicker brown mixture. Next to the bowl lay an orange, a lemon, and a handful- five total- packet of honey that looked distinctly as though they'd come from a fast food chain. Once she was satisfied by the consistency, she shifted her attention to a smaller empty glass bowl, emptying the packets into the bottom of the white concave item.
Humming to herself as she busied her mind with the task she'd promised a friend so long ago, Lilith grinned at the mixture, before giving in to the notes filling her head. Singing could take her mind off the incessant wondering. Maybe there was something to the tastes, but more than likely, her teeth would just ache from the amount of sweet acidity this concoction contained, so she let herself sing softly.
"There's an old voice in my head that's holding me back... Well tell her that I miss our little talks.
