A blue notebook sits in the bottom drawer of Camila's desk. The word "Classified" is written in sloppy black letters on the paper cover of the book. It looks like an old school notebook that assumed a different purpose after it had no use in the classroom. Inside the spiral spine, a blue pen is hooked on the spirals for easy access. Song lyrics are littered across the first page of the notebook, though one is in a deeper black ink than the others. It reads: "I will try to find my place in the Diary of Jane". The pages of the notebook are standard blue lines with red lines for the margin. The pages will surely be filled by the time Camila graduates from Ashford.

The Beginning of an Adventure

Welp, I've really done it. I've really made a fool of myself and screwed people over. And you know what the best part is? I don't even care! Well, okay, I do, but maybe I should elaborate because that statement was so vague that I'm not even sure I understood it...


So, I guess I should start with when I got discovered. Well, that's thanks to my no good parents. If they wouldn't have talked up their failed experiment, they might still be alive. But they're not, so whatever. Anyway, so I came home to find my parents (and their bodily fluids) all over the living room. The next thing I know, my a** is on a boat to an island in the Pacific Ocean. Hardly a present for an orphan girl, but governments do whatever they want anyway, so who the hell cares?

There is writing on the next line of the page, but it is scribbled out, as if the writer does not want a snooper to read it.

Since I've been in the prison school, all I've met are guys, for the most part. The first one had weird brown hair and was concerned about the marks the handcuffs made on my wrists. Those agents are going to get their butts kicked one day, if I have my way...

Thankfully, those bruises healed before I met the next guy, a white haired kid with blue eyes named Stephen. God, he can be so annoying! He's always in my business and it drives me nuts! The first time I met him, I was having a s*** day and he tried to play psychologist and patient with me. Lemme tell ya, I was having none of that. I almost punched the guy in the face. Of course, when I blew him off, he got angry and burned himself twice and I had to heal him, then pass out. I wish the first time I met him was the only time I met him, but oh, it wasn't... The next time we met, I was just singing by myself and he just wandered into the auditorium. Okay, I know we're in the same grade, but I seriously doubt he was going to his next class... Anyway, so no sooner did he come in, then this girl with short hair, freaky a** black wings, and blood soaked clothes starts trying to have a conversation with us. Well, thanks to the blood, I had a f****** panic attack and nearly fell off the stage! Loverboy tried to "protect" me, but I just told him to buzz off and go rescue a girl that actually wanted his help.

I wish my interactions with Mr. Paulinski would have ended after the auditorium, but I bumped into him one more time before I really pissed him off. The Valentine's day dance was supposed to be fun and, for a while, I was bored to tears. I saw the guy by himself and thought about taking pity on him. However, I saw my friend Ash nearby and got an evil idea. Why not flirt with Ash a little to make Stephen jealous? After all, Ash and I are friendly and it wouldn't mean anything to either of us. But of course, Stephen got pissed and flipped at us both before storming away. I feel bad for making him cry... I didn't think he was in that deep, since we've barely interacted and I've been nothing but a royal b**** every time we have. After the fire boy had his temper tantrum, Ash tried to make me feel better by dancing with me, but I know he felt guilty. I still feel kind of bad for dragging him into something without warning him, but he insists that it's fine. Well, at least he's not pissed at me. Well, whatever; at least that Paulinski kid will leave me in peace!

The writing near the bottom of the page is all scribbled out, as if she had more to say, but did not want anyone to read it. It seems that, even on paper, she does not want to admit to some of her feelings.

Well, I'll write when I have more to report back on.

Lament of a Survivor

I wish that this was all a dream. Someone, anyone, wake me from this horrible nightmare! I haven't been able to sleep for 3 days! I have gone 72 hours without sleeping. It's like every time I lay my head down, all I can see is blood, guns, and death. Do I have some kind of PTSD? I think I might... It's been so horrible lately, there are no words to properly describe the chaos that has overtaken this once semi-peaceful school. I am no wordsmith, but, I can try to talk about the horrors that I have witnessed. I have no idea if anyone will ever read this, but I remember hearing one of my old friends say that either talking or writing about something painful will make healing easier. I don't understand how that is, but I do know that keeping things bottled up can make you physically unhealthy. Without further ado, here we go.

On June 19, 2014, a giant battle was incited between the prefects and the battle front. Details on who started the fight are sketchy, at least, to my knowledge. All I know for sure is that I heard a scuffle outside my window and looked out to see two young men punching each other. I figured it was just a school-yard fight and that a prefect would just break it up. Maybe, if I would have seen the brass badge glinting in the sun, I would have done something and, maybe, people would still be alive...

There are dark spots spattered on the third paragraph, as if the writer had been crying while pouring out her thoughts. The dark spots obscure the writing just a little bit, but anyone who wants to read it can.

It wasn't until I heard metal creaking a few hours later that I found out there was an all out brawl outside. I could feel the school shake as I ran down the halls, panting and desperately trying to shove open the door so I could get to the courtyard to see what the hell all the noise and creaking was for. Well, I knew who was causing it, but I hoped that it wasn't who I thought it was. I hear that some people blame him for starting the brawl, but I don't want to believe them. Chandler wouldn't have risked his life and everyone else's just for revenge... Would have he? Regardless of what I wanted, my suspicions were confirmed when I hear the sound of gunshots. I thought it was going to be the end; the governments had sent their lackeys to exterminate us all, like the mere pests that we are to them.

I was like a deer caught in the headlights, just standing and staring while people grappled with each other in battle. I thought I saw Carter run by, because I felt a rush of air. I don't know who she was chasing, though. I ran over to the shadows, hoping to find Calista, but she wasn't there; however, she was standing a few feet away, tussling with an agent. When she tossed him aside, she commanded me to go to the healers, who were desperate for help. I saw Meredith's blonde hair and made a beeline for her, hoping to help heal the injured. I hoped that she wouldn't turn me away because I'm battle front, but, the way Calista was talking made me think that they didn't care who helped, as long as some were healed. So, I ran over to where the injured were and set to work, hoping to save at least some people. My healing power isn't at a high level yet, so I passed out several times. The last time, though, was the most devastating.

When I came to, I felt like I couldn't breathe. I looked around, trying to figure out who the hell was trying break my f***ing trachea. The force got stronger and I was starting to black out when I finally realized who it was. Deven. The king of the a**holes. The resident psychic with a raging god complex. And he was trying to kill little Camila Reyes, a member of Battle Front for only six months. Honestly, if Stephen hadn't come in at the last second, I surely would have died. But,thankfully, he shot flames at Deven, allowing me time to crawl away to an injured Meredith. I tried to heal the gaping wound, but she had already lost too much blood. She thanked me for my help before closing her eyes. Can you believe that? She thanked me. The prefect commander, the woman of the group I hated with a passion, thanked me for my help. My only hope is that those people I healed got out alive.

More tears are splattered on the sixth paragraph, smudging some of the words. Anyone who is able to read it either has really good eyesight or can read some seriously horrible smudging.

Hands down, the worst part of the battle was after I crawled away. I left Stephen to attack Deven while I ran like a coward. You think that's bad? You haven't read anything yet... So, I managed to get away and head toward the outer east end of the school. An agent managed to sneak up on me somehow and put a gun to the back of my head. I felt a zip of electricity and I knew exactly who it was. I turned around just in time to hear a shot ring around and a familiar, tan form start to fall toward the ground. I shot a few yellow spheres at the a**hole who tried to kill me and a member of student council jumped him, giving him a taste of his own medicine. I turned my attention to the boy in my arms, who was bleeding out slowly before my eyes. Desperately, I put my hands over the wound and poured all of my energy into trying to save him. He placed his hand on my bloodied ones after a few minutes and shook his head. He knew he was going to die. He took a bullet for me. I knew that Samara had been the true girl he had feelings for, even if she was gone. Our last conversation was a joking one, just like the first time we met. I felt my eyes burn; who knew I had the capacity to feel such emotions for others? I didn't, that's for sure. I told him that he'll be able to see Samara soon. And you know what he said to me? His last words to me before the light left his eyes were, "I-I will see Samara soon... B-but I'll miss you, Camila." Can you believe that? Despite the fact that his best friend was dead because of a cannibalistic monster, he said that he was going to miss me. You know, I think I might have loved him...

I managed to get his body out of the way so that Gary couldn't disgrace it. I heard about what he had done to Samara to kill her, and that was bad enough. I alternated between healing and fighting for the rest of the battle until the agents ran out of reinforcements. I managed to sustain a large, second degree burn on my arm thanks to stumbling into a dual attack involving a battle front member and a student council member against three agents with guns. I didn't want to see the damage, so I fled. I must have looked awful, stumbling around the halls with a white shirt stained crimson with the blood of a young man that I'm pretty sure I had feelings for. Apparently, I had a giant gash on my leg that the nurses had to stitch up and they wrapped my forearm in gauze so the second-degree burn I have there wouldn't get infected. (I've been hiding in my room so they won't try to bring me back to the office. I heard Calista's planning a funeral and I want to be there.)

There are dark splotches on the bottom of the page, as if the author had cried over what she had just written. A few lines of the page are blank, but there is some more writing after five or six blank lines.

Chandler. Bridget. Roman. There were so many who were lost, but I knew some of these people, either through loose association or actual contact. Bridget and Chandler were my superiors, seeming to be joking and mostly kind on the surface, though Chandler could take the jokes too far sometimes... Out of all of them, though, I'm going to miss Roman the most. He was the first guy to ever kiss me and tell me I was beautiful in a serious way. He gave his life to save mine, even when he knew the girl that he cared for deeply had died. His loss has hit me the hardest.I'm just thankful I didn't lose Carter or Stephen too... If I did, I might have done away with myself by now. Just don't tell them I said that.

I have to get out of here. I need to go to the funeral to pay my respects. I need to let them know that they won't die in vain and that we will get out of here. Even if I have to die, I will make sure that those who were lost, neutrals, prefects, and battle front alike, will be avenged. They won't stop us next time, I can promise you that.
