A meet and greet. A mandatory meet and greet. I already know enough people, dammit. Yes while Carter was generally a nice person, she got a little peeved when she was specifically told to meet new people when she already did that just fine on her own. Though her peevishness might also be due to the fact that she couldn't blow the whole thing off. She was stuck in here till they decided to let the students out a la release the hounds style. Everyone would probably stampede their way out, either fed up with the forced social time or relieved to be let out after being cooped up with so many strangers. Though invariably some would be sad, actually enjoying the function.
In fact if it wasn't for the lovely detail that this shindig was held first thing in the morning, she might have had a little fun. But since it was, Carter was not happy. She could be a morning person on the rare day, but mostly she was the "don't talk to me before I have my coffee" girl. As it stood now she was still half asleep, coffee-less, and verging on annoyed and she hadn't even talked to anyone yet except some light chatter with the people she did know. The worst part? She had to be decked out in full Ashford Academy regalia. Blouse, blazer, and...skirt. Though she wasn't as anti-dress and anti-skirt as she was when she was little, she still wasn't over the moon she had to wear one every day. She usually changed into a pair of shorts the first chance she got after the last bell rung.
This is gonna suuuck. Carter looked around at the crowded auditorium as she pulled her blue hair into a messy, pastel bun. The last she needed at the moment was her hair getting into her face and annoying her more. Alright I know them, I know them, I know them....Turns out the mandatory meet and greet had yet another mandatory part; talk to the new students or else. So here Carter was, trying to look like she didn't completely not want to be here, and looking for students that didn't look familiar in the slightest. She was honestly hoping that one would take the initiative and come up to her to save her the trouble of weeding one out but the chance of that happening was slim to none.
Finally! During another of her bored looks around the room she spotted what looked like a new student. She grinned in victory before heading over to them. "Hey. New I'm guessing?" See? She could be nice without her coffee. For the time being anyway and providing whoever she just went up to wasn't a complete jerk.
