Basics
Name: Lucas Aaron Moore
Nicknames: Luke, Smiley
Age: 17
Birthday: April 4th, 1997
Grade: 11th
Power: Major Power - Gemstone Empowerment
A peculiar power indeed, Lucas' aura seems to radiate into and absorbed by gems such as ruby, emerald, topaz, and so on. The nature of this power is that, as his aura is absorbed into these gems, he is able to manipulate the stored aura energy to create a number of effects, based on the gem in question. In essence, these gems act as both a storage for his power's energy and as the focus for all the abilities they provide. For instance, if Lucas were to get his hands on a ruby of some kind and keep it in his possession long enough, he could then use it for the ingrained abilites of Fire Manipulation and Fire Resistance.
Currently, Lucas has only ever experienced the use of 7 gems total, the types and their respective powers being as follows
Ruby: Fire Manipulation and Fire Resistance
Sapphire: Water Manipulation and Water Breathing
Emerald: Plant Manipulation and Sunlight Sustenance
Garnet: Earth Manipulation and Earth Phasing
Topaz: Physical Empowerment and Anatomy Intuition
Amethyst: Targeted Restoration and Poison/Toxin Cleansing
Onyx: Telekinesis and Enhanced Intellect
There are some inherent limits and issues when dealing with this power. Firstly, Lucas must make physical contact with the gemstone to establish a "connection" to the gem's abilities and energy reserve. Once he's established this connection, he may will the powers from them as if he normally had them. Secondly, the overall strength of each of the powers he has access to is weaker than that of a dedicated user of said power. For instance, someone who has the ingrained ability to use Fire Manipulation can generally overpower Lucas' ability to use the Ruby's Fire Manipulation, although temporary conditions may allow him an advantage in small instances. Thirdly, each gemstone can only be used for a certain amount of time before the energy stored in them runs dry. On average, Lucas can use a single gem for 3 minutes before the energy is completely drained and the gem needs to be recharged. Lastly, the gems need to stay with a proximity of 5 feet of him to be able to maintain his connection. If he goes beyond that distance, he will have to make contact with the gem as before in order to use it again.
**Note: This power uses both Major Power slots**
Minor Power: Arachnid Affinity
Lucas' aura radiates with a soothing effect that calms and soothes spiders and other arachnids around him. While not overpowering, most spiders will generally not bite him if they are crawling on him, though extremely aggressive spiders will still bite if they feel threatened.
Member Group: Battlefront
Canon or not: At the moment, that's a negative, Ghostrider.
Appearance: Lucas is by no definition a large person. His 5'10" height and 124lbs body give way to a very wirey, borderline gaunt build. His brown eyes give a soft touch to his pointed face while a mess of brown hair falls semi-neatly around his head, his bangs autonomously parted to frame his eyes. His thin arms and legs are someehat toned from his many months of self-defense courses, which gives his lean build enough definition to not appear emaciated.
Lucas actually prefers his school uniform over most clothes, finding it comfortable and appealing to the eye over most other apparel. In those rare few instances when he isn't in full uniform, he takes on a casual dress shirt or other buttoned-down top and pants of some kind, though he is not against pocketed or cargo pants as they sport a utility normal dress clothes do not. He always wears a pair of silver bracelets and a silver necklace, with the bracelets holding a topaz and a garnet and the necklace containing an amethyst.
Personality
Lucas is the kind of guy who you would probably find in the middle of some group of people, generally giving a soft saying or telling a witty joke to try and lighten any mood or keep a light-hearted atmosphere going. He's almost always smiling or some variation of the expression; it's his philosophy that happiness can be contagious as long as someone can keep a smile going, and so keeps said smile on at almost all times. Those rare few times where a smile is not appropriate (such as funerals or court hearings) or he is focused on a particularly important topic, he becomes very stern in his expression and thought.
In general, Lucas is very friendly, slightly outspoken, and very compassionate. Whenever someone is in need of a good friend, he tries his hardest to be that good friend. Friends, to him, should be worth ten times their weight in gold, and he couldn't expect this of anyone if he was not willing to put forth the same effort. Whether it's a shoulder to cry on, an ear to listen, or a hand to help with things, Lucas is more than willing to do what he can. And, while he isn't the best at giving advice or a helping hand, he is always doing so with the best of intentions.
On the inside, Lucas really is cheery, but he is overly critical of himself and how he acts. Deep down, he doesn't want to be a let-down and so tries to ensure he's doing exactly the right thing for the situation. If ever someone gets close enough to him emotionally that he stops trying so hard, he's more than likely to appear very vulnerable. Whoever gets this far should realize that the trust he holds in them is greater than anything else to him.

Father: Richard Moore
Mother: Giselle Moore
Grandfather (Mother's side): Eugene Bordeaux
History: Lucas' parents met multiple times out of coincidence. His father was an up-and-coming businessman traveling all across the US while his mother was an airline stewardess on the planes he generally took. With every flight, they grew a bit closer until one asked the other out. You ask Giselle, it was Richard who asked first, and vice versa. All that matters is that, by the end of 6 months, Giselle and Richard married and, soon after, had their one and only child, Lucas.
As a child, Lucas grew up fairly close to his parents. By the time he was born, Richard had gained a management position at the communications firm he worked at his whole career, so he had plenty of time to spend with his family. Giselle retired and became a stay-at-home mom with Lucas' birth, and since then, has taken part time work when Lucas became old enough to attend school by himself. Every so often, though, Lucas' family would visit his grandfather Eugene on geological digs and such. Lucas' mother was always fascinated by the digs Richard enjoyed the adventure of the digs, himself, so it was no wonder that Lucas took the same fancy as them.
As time went on, a small, government-funded boarding school was being created and the Moores were informed that Lucas qualified to attend the institution, due to his great school record up to that point. Of course, his parents asked him before even bringing up the paperwork for such a place, but Lucas was more than willing, even slightly excited. To him, a boarding school seemed like an exciting proposition, and before the week was out, Lucas was signed up and headed to the school. That's where things became interesting. Sure, he was given a formal education and all, but some of the extra-curricular activities were of questionable intention. Some even included "telepathy concepts" and such, which was odd. A handful of the students, not wanting to bother with the more questionable classes and activities, constantly skipped class, and Lucas was right there with them.
However, after a while, one of the teachers with a mean streak confronted the group and was close to punishing them when one of the boys, Thomas, took off to run away. Lucas knew he wouldn't do such a thing as abandon them, but it did cause the teacher to chase after him alone. Thomas hadn't abandoned them. He drew the attention off of everyone else. No one had heard from Thomas since then, and soon after, all of the students graduated.
That's when life took a couple twists. When Lucas came back from the boarding, it was right before an administration issue cause the school to be shut down. Rumors abounded that the institution was used to screen for "candidates displaying a potential for supernatural abilities," but no concrete evidence could be found. Lucas and his parents dismissed the idea, thinking it a fanciful joke. However, the day after his 14th birthday, Lucas came across something shocking. His mother gifted him her favorite bracelets and necklace, gifts her father gave for her wedding gift. Lucas had kept them close to him at all times and, when he nearly fell from a neighborhood friend's rooftop, he caught himself and acrobatically landed, with a soft glow coming from the bracelet on his right arm. Though his friend never saw the bracelet glow, the scene made them uneasy, so they left their separate ways.
Of course, Lucas brought this up with his parents, and their first reaction was obviously that of disbelief, but when he actually tried to invoke the power again, the bracelet shimmered and glowed again. His parents, shocked at first, we're beside themselves about what to do, but after much deliberation, it was agreed that keeping quiet about the sudden power was best. Lucas did get to be allowed to try learning and expanding on what powers he had from this. It was their belief that learning to use these gifts would instill a greater sense of responsibility. With great power comes great responsibility and all that.
Interestingly enough, it did just that. Lucas very slowly changed from a minorly delinquent rich kid to a rather upstanding guy over the span of a couple years. and that upstanding, responsible attitude landed him where he is now. He and his parents all took a trip to Washington D.C. for an important business deal his father was brokering before the family vacation planned in the same place. Unfortunately, a sinkhole started opening up in a nearby park at an alarming rate, a family being caught nearby almost being pulled in. Lucas, however, managed to get to the scene and, before the family fell in, pulled the ground beneath them over to safety. Unfortunately, when the authorities made it to the scene, Lucas ended up being arrested for causing the sinkhole and the property damage that ensued from such calamity.
Shortly afterwards, the FBI took him into custody and, it was at this point that an ultimatum was given to him. They could release him of all charges, knowing he didn't cause the accident in the first place, but public opinion of him and his family would be hammered by the presses, more than likely causing his father to be fired due to the negative publicity. However, if he were to give himself up and be taken somewhere for further examination, a location known as the Ashford Academy School for the Gifted, all the bad publicity could be kept off. All he had to do was give up and stay at the school, and as long as he did that, nothing would leak. Obviously, there was no actual proof. The agents were blackmailing him into joining their little program. And, unfortunately, the odds were in their favor. Lucas made one last request to talk to his parents in person before accepting their terms, and after a few solemn goodbyes, he was on his way to his new-found prison. One Lucas had planned to break free of when the time was right.
