Basics
Name: Arthur Bishop III
Nicknames: Art, Arty
Age: 18
Birthday: 30th October, 1997
Grade: 11th
Power:
1. Reactive Power Replication-
For the tl;dr crowd here is a list of his limits (full description below):
- Must be physically damaged by the power to use it
- Can only use one power at a time
- His own natural abilities influence his skill at using the power adopted (example: bad at strength=bad at strength-related powers)
- If hit in rapid succession with multiple powers, he can only take on the last one he is hit with
- Can only use the power until the damage from it has been fully healed (see power 2 for more detail)
- Requires a 10 minute cool-down period before he can take on a power again
- Abilities are not cumulative-- he only takes one at a time and once it expires he can't use it again unless struck by it again
Arthur possesses the ability to copy other people's powers. Of course, such a power comes with a long list of limitations. For starters, he can only use powers that he has physically taken damage from. Since Arthur must always be injured in order to use his power it is both a strength and a weakness. Additionally, he can only copy one power at a time and his skill at using the power depends on his own natural abilities. For example, he is somewhat lacking in raw, physical strength, so if he copies a power that requires strength he will not be able to use it to its full potential; meanwhile, agility is one of his strengths, so when he copies a power that has its basis in agility he will be able to use it with a relatively high level of skill. Another limitation is the amount of time he needs to cool-down between copying powers. If an opponent uses different powers on him in rapid succession he can only adopt the last one used on him and he can only use that power until the damage that allows him to use it has healed. He must have a cool-down period of 10 minutes before taking up another (or the same) power, but with practise he may be able to shorten his cool-down period to something more practical. Finally, he does not have the ability to remember and use old powers at will. He must take on damage from the power he wants to use each time before he can use it again.
2. Rapid Healing-
tl;dr Limits (full description below):* Dead nerves
- Loses the power he's replicating once the injury is healed
- Rapid-healing minor injuries are still subject to the 10 minute cool-down
- Cannot heal any injuries that the body could not heal naturally including:
* Lost limbs
* Traumatic brain injuries
* Severe internal injuries
* Illnesses/damage caused by illness
* Fatal wounds
- Cannot heal others, only himself
- The more fatigued he becomes, the longer recovery takes
Since, realistically, the human body can only take so much damage before it simply stops functioning, Arthur would only be good for a handful of fights if he couldn't heal himself; however, Arthur’s healing powers can be as much of an advantage as they are an obstacle. Although his healing happens automatically, once he has healed himself of the damage that allowed him to use the other character's powers, he will lose the ability to use that power. This adds an interesting element of timing to Arthur's battles as it forces him to race against his own healing powers to do as much damage to his opponent as possible while he can still use their power. The more complex the injury is, the longer it takes to heal and the longer he can use his opponent's power, but he will still always be at a disadvantage due to the fact that he must be injured to use his powers in the first place. If the injury he suffers is a minor one that takes a very short time to heal, then consequently his window of opportunity to attack is also very short and he must act quickly before he loses the power and has to wait 10 minutes for his cool down to wear off.
Additionally, there are limits to the kinds of injuries that Arthur can heal. He cannot heal any damage that was not caused by a power, and he cannot heal any damage that the body would be unable to heal naturally. Dead nerves, lost limbs, traumatic brain injuries, severe internal damage, or wounds that would otherwise be fatal, cannot be healed. He is furthermore unable to heal himself of any illnesses or damage caused by disease, even if the disease was caused by another character's power to begin with (*Note* Virus manipulation or any other illness-causing powers are not something he can replicate). He is also unable to heal anyone other than himself. Healing times can vary anywhere between 30 seconds for minor, superficial injuries like a small cut or burn, and 5 minutes for more complex injuries such as organ damage. Arthur is further limited by his own physical endurance. His breathing problems put him at a disadvantage when it comes to prolonged combat, and with every new injury he receives, the harder it becomes for him to recover.
Member Group: Prefect
Canon or not: Not
Appearance: Tall and leanly muscular, Arthur has a achieved a high level of fitness through his years of training. What he lacks in raw strength and endurance he makes up for with speed and precision. His hair is naturally silvery-white making him appear older than he really is, and his steel-blue eyes have an unusual, almost metallic quality to them. Good hygiene is very important to him, especially with his allergies, and he always appears well-groomed with his hair combed neatly, never a lock out of place. He has fair, English skin which has always been acne free, but occasionally becomes red and irritated when in contact with one of his many allergens. Not the most imposing of men, his quiet nature and unassuming looks cause him to blend in with the crowd, but that's the way he likes it.
Arthur dresses formally even when there's no need for it. He prefers to wear long sleeves and pants to protect his sensitive skin from whatever particles may be lurking in the air. Though the school uniform is not something he would pick out for himself, he has no strong feelings towards it either way. In fact, he seemingly has no strong feelings towards anything and his expression is usually one of blank indifference, occasionally interrupted by a polite smile. He has notably good posture which, combined with the fact that he almost always wears dress pants, accentuates his tall figure.
Personality
Overall Personality: Ambitious, reflective, and a compulsive perfectionist, Arthur possesses a quiet confidence that has earned him respect among both his peers and his mentors. Raised to be a proper English gentleman, he is polite and modest, preferring to allow his actions to speak for him when it comes to proving his skills. However, to call him kind would be too generous. Arthur can be very harsh in his evaluations of both himself and others. He demands not only success, but perfection which is a dangerous expectation for one's ego. On the surface, he oftentimes comes across as being aloof or even snobbish, which many people find off-putting. However, he does not necessarily mean to be unfriendly. He simply suffers from "resting bitch face" and is typically so caught up in his own thoughts he doesn't realise what kind of impression he's giving off. In conversation he is nothing if not polite.
Arthur is a gifted student. Like most things, he takes his studies seriously and demonstrates respect towards his teachers, becoming annoyed when other students are disruptive. He learns quickly and enjoys studying various topics (especially languages), even in his free time. Outside of school, he is a talented martial artist and fencer, having taken lessons in both from a young age. Although Arthur's preoccupation with details allows him to achieve a high level of skill in his subjects of interest, it also causes him to miss the big-picture. He is so meticulous and particular about how things should be that he forgets to ask himself whether it really matters. As such, he ends up wasting time that could otherwise be spent productively. Furthermore, his over-achieving nature makes him difficult to work with and relate to. When working in a group setting he refuses to delegate responsibilities to others out of fear that they will not be able to adhere to his strict expectations. This quality can also bleed over into his personal relationships making him difficult to get along with and explains why he has very few friends.
Ultimately, Arthur is motivated by both his need for approval and his fear of failing to live up to the high standards set by the previous generations of his family. He values personal responsibility, order, and control. Having never been allowed to make his own choices, Arthur compensates for his lack of control over his own life by being rigidly self-disciplined. From a young age he has been put under excessive amounts of pressure from his family, but was never taught how to cope, causing him to construct strict emotional barriers that prevent him from expressing his own fears and desires. However, as hard as he tries to ignore them, he cannot deny the existence of his own emotions. There is a quiet anger and subtle sadness about him that he cannot seem to overcome. He plays a dangerous game balanced on the fine line between order and oppression.

History
Family Members/guardians:Behind the Character
Father: Arthur Bishop II
Mother: Elizabeth Bishop
History: Arthur had the best of everything growing up, a fact that he is resigned to be thankful for. His father, a successful ambassador for the UK, came from a long line of wealthy politicians and was away on business most of the year. Being able to afford private tutors and nannies to take care of Arthur, his mother had little need to be around her son which gave her plenty of time to devote to, well, herself. Of course, being a professional gold-digging trophy wife comes with its own set of issues such as knowing that your husband is away screwing exotic women in every country in the western world, but to Elizabeth’s undying credit, she remained faithful to her husband (and his money). Whether Arthur is aware of his parent’s dysfunctional marriage or not, it’s hard to tell, but either way his relationship with them has always been so one-sided they might as well be strangers.
In spite of his parents' absence throughout his childhood, Arthur has always been driven by the need to please them. From a young age he was expected to not only uphold the family tradition, but surpass it. He admired his father and modeled himself after him in the way that children often do. However, Arthur's efforts were almost always met with criticism. He learned quickly that perfection was not something to be rewarded, but expected and created himself around that basic principle. Of course, the price of perfection is not cheap. Ironically, the harder he tries to achieve perfection, the more he is forced to sacrifice which has led him down the slippery slope of obsession and repression.
It is also important to mention that Arthur has always been plagued by allergies. Cats, dogs, horses, pollen, dust, latex, perfumes, certain fabrics, soaps and dyes-- the kid can't go anywhere unless armed with a box of tissues and a 12-pack of Benadryl. Winter is the one season that gives him any relief. Though most of the time his allergies are merely an inconvenience, he sometimes experiences severe asthma attacks which require immediate medical attention. He takes medications to help control his reactions, but there is only so much he can do about them. Twice he has attempted to go through immunotherapy, but both times had to stop after developing a severe reaction. However, some good has come from his breathing problems. In order to help strengthen his lungs, his parents hired a tai chi instructor to work with Arthur in what was undoubtedly the best decision that they ever made for their son. He learned fast and enjoyed the sport which not only improved his health, but also his confidence. Later, he would move on to study several other forms of martial arts and adopt them into his modern fighting style.
At the age of thirteen, Arthur made the transition from home education to being educated at one of the finest boarding schools in London, as was the family tradition. While there, he continued to study martial arts and picked up fencing, growing more well-rounded in his interests as he matured into the young man he is today. It was there that he and his friend/enemy, Devlin Ainsworth, discovered their powers while sparring after class. There was no tragedy or unnecessary drama behind the incident, and to this day Arthur questions how the Ashford agents found them out so quickly.
Naturally, his parents jumped at the opportunity to send their "gifted" son to the ultra-exclusive academy. Arthur was more hesitant about attending the school, skeptical of its intentions, but never voiced these concerns and quietly complied to his parents' wishes. At Ashford he was almost immediately recruited to be a prefect. He takes his position seriously, firmly believing that the Ashford Project is a good thing and that its gifted students should be kept away from the general public for the sake of order. However, he does not see it as his job to oppress his classmates and tries to lead by example, exhibiting a refined sense of diplomacy in his authority.
Arthur's new life at Ashford will allow him to explore his own interests and apply his skills. He will have to come to terms with the fact that his aspirations of continuing his family's legacy will likely never come to fruition. Instead, he will be forced to confront his own feelings and learn to cope in a world where, for the first time in his life, he is free to make his own choices. While Ashford has traditionally been a place of oppression, for Arthur it just might be an opportunity for freedom.
